  1. The writer they're in talks with doesn't write kids movies. His first feature is coming out this year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4_bdS3_gr0 It may not be the same style, but Disney is definitely going to market this like Oz and Alice in Wonderland. If he tries to release the same retelling in the same year, he will have to fight the marketing might of a Disney blockbuster.
  2. Disney is moving forward on a Beauty and the Beast reboot as well. http://www.deadline.com/2013/03/next-disney-fairy-tale-blockbuster-how-about-trance-scribe-joe-ahearne-reimagining-beauty-and-the-beast/ Since Del Toro has an FX pilot on his schedule next, and Crimson Peak goes into pre-production at the end of the year, I think he's either going to push back production to next year, or completely cancel the project. I don't think he'll want to compete with Disney on this one.
  3. Variety is saying she's passing on Cinderella. https://twitter.com/marcgraser/status/311306678098354176
  4. Yeah, I think this will really open up her options in the future. I think Casting Directors will see this as an audition for roles that they normally wouldn't even consider for her.

  8. May 17, 2010: Two months after the release of Alice in Wonderland, Disney buys a pitch from screenwriter Aline Brosh-Mckenna (The Devil Wears Prada, 27 Dresses) about a live-action re-imagining of the classic fairy tale. August 12, 2011: Director Mark Romanek is pursued and eventually confirmed to direct. Insiders describe Brosh-Mckenna's script to be a "re-imaging of the classic tale where the prince is set for a politically arranged marriage, until the evil plan is threatened when the prince meets Cinderella." February 29, 2012: Director Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) is brought on by
  9. If they create competition, then they can pressure others into accepting. If you hear that other A-list stars are interested in a part you like, you're more inclined to make a deal.
  10. Seems to me like Disney is just playing the field and using her name as leverage.
  11. I don't think they'll be another event as formal as this until the premiere at Cannes in May.
  12. Another pic from the same makeup artist and hair by Ben Skervin. If she's working with professional hair and makeup artists, in what looks like her hotel room over multiple days, then I think she'll be doing more than just private parties.
  13. THR says she was at a WME pre-Oscar party on Friday night, so that's probably what the makeup pic was about. That might have even been what she wore.
  14. They're actually taping the Spirit Awards right now, so I guess she didn't go after all. Although I just read that Perks did in fact win Best First Feature, and Stephen thanked Emma in his speech. Maybe she really is going to the Oscars...

  16. Update: Dan's Google Plus account says he will be presenting at both the Spirit Awards and the Oscars.
  17. There are only two televised award shows that nominated Perks: The People's Choice Awards and The Independent Spirit Awards. Perks is nominated for Best First Feature and Stephen Chbosky is the official recipient. Emma flew back to LA this weekend and the ceremony is tomorrow night. Some people are saying she might be attending the Oscars or one of the after party's, but I think this is much more likely.

  19. Emma flew to L.A. yesterday. What she's doing there isn't entirely known, but the signing is taking place tomorrow night. So if you live near LA, I'd say it would be in your best interest to be at the Barnes & Noble in the Grove well before 7 PM.
  20. This is the first colorization I've ever done.
