  1. Maybe Dan is just something smarter and more imaginative when it comes to the question how to deal with paps. And as far as I know he normally is not wearing a kilt (what brings me to the point that is is not forbidden for women to wear trousers).

I don't think it has to do with being smarter with the paps. Women have it worse because pap pictures of them interest a broader spectrum of the population. Potentially interested people include men who don't say no to oggling a girl leaving the gym in a skimpy outfit, women that enjoy gossip and/or criticising fellow members of their gender and women interested in fashion who want to see what It-girls are wearing. I guess Emma being a rather high-profile, beautiful and stylish actress definitely makes puts her among the people whose picture is worth enough money for a pap to camp out a hotel or throw himself on the ground. Which is rather sad. But that doesn't mean we should expect Emma to consider wearing the same clothes everyday in order to get rid of paps. The mere idea is outrageous. She has stated often enough that she enjoys the process of dressing up and clearly fashion played a big part in her career being taken to the next level. Why on Earth would she want to renounce something that she enjoys and that is part of her "brand" anyway just to try and get rid of those pathetic paps with no life of their own (who would probably keep chasing her anyway, in case they could spot her in the vicinity of any guy that could pass as a new boyfriend)?!

Then, of course, there's the issue of double standards being applied to women, but quite frankly, it's not an issue that's specific to tabloïds. I have to deal with double standards on a daily basis. Yes, it's frustrating. I'm pretty sure most girls and women on these boards know exactly what I'm talking about. What you read in tabloïds is just a symptom of a disease that society is not exactly getting cured of anytime soon.

  2. Of course it is part of their job; they are persons of public interest. And they want a good image and good publicity and under normal circumstances they pay a lot of money for that. Otherwise they would wether be famous or known. And as long as it is not prohibited by law I would suggest to smile a little, avoiding complaining about "creepy pap-shots" even on BBC1.

I'm sorry, but no, actors are not "persons of public interest" in any way that would justify the world wanting, let alone needing, to know details about their private lives. Seriously, what good does it do society to know what club Emma partied in or who she had lunch with? None. Therefore, not a public interest matter.

I also think you make a really wrong correlation between being an artist and wanting to be famous. Somebody like Michelle Williams for instance has no interest in being famous, or even having a good image - she only wants to do a good job in good movies and she doesn't seem to care what people think about the way she leads her life. Somebody like Paris Hilton, on the other hand, craves publicity because she has no talent whatsoever and being in gossip mags is her only way of existing in the public eye, something which she, along with countless other starlets, seems to think is an end in itself.

I think Emma has stated often enough that she's in this industry for the acting, not for the fame game. So I don't see why she should pretend otherwise. And I don't see why we should pretend she should do so either. As far as I'm concerned, I really admire her - I don't think I could have dealt with the privacy intrusions she's had to deal with, and from such a young age too.

Would YOU want the world to see shots of your underwear, to read your private emails or to know about your breakups?! Life is difficult enough as it is. Don't you understand it only makes things more painful and/or embarrassing if you have to deal with what happens in your life both in private AND in public? Don't you understand we don't own people just because we pay a few euros/pounds/dollars to watch their movies?!

Emma is probably one of the very few celebs who always try to smile and be polite towards paps. She's shown this countless times in the past. But can we please wrap ourselves around the fact that she is human? She can't always smile to people who keep popping up out of the blue calling her name every single time, so they can have a snapshot of her and then judge her outfit like a prize dog, or her hair or her make up or her personality based on how she responds to them.

What if she had a bad day? Does she have to "smile a little" just for some people who don't even respect her and she knows that? I mean, would you? Because I wouldn't.

I totally agree with you. I consider myself a rather decent, polite and friendly human being but on some days I just can't bring myself to smile or make the extra effort to be nice to random people. I think most of us are that way. So why should people who get harassed on a whole different level be held accountable to an even higher standard than the one we hold ourselves accountable for?

  3. I've changed the post on the main site to link to the video on the Fallon show website.

Thanks, Dook! Just watched it again thanks to you :)

I got to watch it-she was HYSTERICAL..."dangerous as a fluffy bunny rabbit." ;)

Her dance moves-damn the girl can move!!!!! :)

It was probably one of the best interviews ever...I also think Jimmy Fallon is really funny..."payback" comment was awesome ;)

Wish I had the link-so sorry!!!

The payback comment also cracked me up. And her dangerous face... Then again the whole interview was hilarious!

watched it twice last nice before master changed the video, dude it was amazing, she's funny but jimmy took her by surprise with 'yill you teach me'', I saw the wheels spinning in her head lol, she made it hilarious.

I do think the whole thing was scripted. It doesn't make it any less hilarious, of course, but I really don't believe the Hollywood industry leaves much room for improvisation, especially on those late night shows.

  4. I have a question for Emma, but I'm not sure whether it's too personal... or even answerable, to be honest. But it's something I've been rather curious about for quite some time:

"As both an actress and an Ivy league student, how much do you draw from your academic knowledge and your readings when preparing for a role or a scene?"

  5. Hi all,

I have a special request to make as I'm in dire and urgent need of a talented graphic maker.

To make things short, I am a volunteer for an NGO called Room to Read, that focuses on education in Asia and Africa and in particular on equal access to education for girls, and we are currently organising a fundraising event called "Namaste India!" - basically the idea is that, on Saturday 16 June 2012, in many cities all over the world (in Australia, Canada, USA, Egypt, Switzerland), yoga classes will be given by volunteer yoga teachers and yoga studios and all the proceeds will go to Room to Read Girls' Education Program in India.

For more information about the event: http://namasteindiaroomtoread.blogspot.fr/2012/02/introducing-namaste-india-room-to-reads.html

For more information about Room to Read: www.roomtoread.org

I'm in charge of organising the Paris event. I have the yoga teachers and yoga studios all lined up, I have a sponsor... but the volunteer who was supposed to design the flyer is too busy to do so before next week-end, and even though we are still waiting for some missing information, we need to start working on a draft flyer asap - this project is of the utmost importance for the Paris Chapter of Room to Read and we need to advertise it asap.

In other words, I need your help. PLEASE. Is anybody here willing to help me out?

If yes, PM me and I'll send you all the info (the text, the logos to add and so on). I have no particular request, except that it shouldn't look too artsy and that it should be in a format that is easily printable. Please keep in mind that even after a first draft is produced, it will need to be amended to include some last minute information.

I can't offer any financial reward, just my eternal gratitude...

Thank you for reading this post.

  6. Oh man. I haven't been on here for AGES. Last time I was here was like, September.

    BUT

I AM HERE AGAIN BECAUSE EMMA WAS AT THE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING PREMIERE AND I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT.

SHE ASKED THE PRODUCER A QUESTION DURING THE Q&A AND THEN HUNG OUT WITH CHRIS COLFER AND THE GANG AT THE AFTER PARTY [ACCORDING TO SEVERAL TWEETS].

    AND THAT'S JUST FANTASTIC!

Also, she looks gorgeous, as always. :)

I'd be curious to know what she asked the producer :)

  7. Just wondering if somebody among the amazingly talented graphic makers on these boards would mind using some of their (precious, I know) spare time to design an avatar and/or a sig for me with this picture:

    Thanks in advance!
