  1. Billions of blue blistering barnacles! Haddocks a great character, the only thing missing from the movie was his pipe. Andy Serkis did a great job with him, much much better than the Haddock from the animated series. Simon Pegg & Nick Frost were great as Thomson and Thompson too, loved the wallet scene. They are already planning a second and third movie and maybe more after that. Hopefully Tintin in Tibet will be one, probably my favorite book but they are all good. Looking forward to seeing more characters, such as Professor Calculus introduced.
  2. Stoke have had a great start to this season, both in the league and Europe. We have had some stupid results though, to remain unbeaten against Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd and then go and gift stupid goals and lose to Swansea and Sunderland. We are yet to win a game following a Europa League game, I am a bit skeptical whether that is to blame but hopefully we can change things when we take on Bolton tomorrow. Man City are looking very very strong this year, I think the title might be theirs this time.
  3. No, I haven't been to any yet, not enough time off work or money. I have been to all the home games though. Prices of flights are scandalous, they more than tripled from UK airports to those places less than an hour after the draw was made. Ukraine, Israel and Turkey are all quite far, if we drew a team from Belgium, Germany or Holland I would have almost certainly gone. Still a chance yet, we are sitting comfortably at the top of our group and look certain to qualify for the knockout stages, amazing considering we have rested some players for these games.
  4. I really enjoyed it and I am glad they kept it animated. I was re-living my childhood, I read every Tintin story when I was a child, timeless classics.
  5. I think that the second half of this season has been a bit hit and miss, started off brilliantly, and I really enjoyed yesterdays episode with the Cybermen, that is what Doctor Who should be about, sometimes I think Stephen Moffat over complicates things, but overall I am enjoying the series and looking forward to next weeks final episode. While I preferred Russell T Davies style he has lost a lot of credibility with me for the abomination which was the last season of Torchwood, he has some making up to do in my book.
  6. The Mighty Potters are in Europe for the first time since 1973 and having beating Hajduk Split 1-0 and 1-0 in the last round we now face FC Thun of Switzerland. I just hope that we make the group stage so that I can organize going to an away trip myself. That's the only downside to European competition if you like to travel to most games like me, European games are midweek and I have to work!
  7. I've been absolutely horrified by the scenes this week. I hope every single person involved in these riots are caught, they are just complete and utter scum and nothing excuses their actions. How can we go from the unity and feeling of national pride that the Royal Wedding brought a few months ago to this in such a short space of time? These people are NOT British and I don't want to be associated with them. Getting their taxes back? I would be surprised if most of them even know what the word means, never mind having paid any. Get them locked up!
  8. Not been on for a while, been very busy in the last few months and off on holiday this weekend, hope to start posting again soon though. This season has been absolutely brilliant and the mid season finale was fantastic. The reason for the split is because Steven Moffat is working on Sherlock, but the good news is that Doctor Who has been commissioned again for next year, with Matt Smith once again as the Doctor. To fill the gap I have ordered a few of the original series box sets as I have never seen them before. The weekend before last I went to the Doctor Who Experience in London's Olymp
  9. Last time it wasn't too bad and we were able to go to the toilet for most of the morning in the MacDonalds in Leicester Square right where we were waiting, then I just had to hold on until it all finished around 6pm. I knew it might have been a problem though so I didn't drink much, just minimal amounts throughout the day. As it's in Trafalgar Square this time I don't know what the situation will be like. As for getting something to eat my advice is take some food with you, although London is one place you wont go hungry, there are hundreds of cafes, restaurants, fast food chains and other e
  10. I have only just caught up with Saturday's episode 'The Doctors Wife' in the last few days as I was away at the weekend. I thought it was brilliant and one of Matt Smith's best yet, this season has been incredible, only three episodes until the season break now. At least I can fill the gap a bit when I visit the Doctor Who Experience in London on 11th June.
  11. Congrats to Porto, nice of them to save it for us ready for our collection in Bucharest next May...
  12. Move over Europe, the Mighty Potters are coming for the first time since 1973. Thanks to reaching the FA Cup Final, and as Man City will be in the Champions League, our season will now start with the Europa League on July 28th! Just a little something I made....
  13. The 3-1 over Arsenal was good, but we have done that before Always nice to get one over Whinger. Well the final didn't go to well, we didn't play well and Man City were too strong for us, when our players were climbing those steps at Wembley to collect their runners up medals I have never been prouder> We have come far in the past few years and I have a feeling it won't be too long until we are back at Wembley again.
  14. I actually think that Steven Moffatt is a better writer but I think Russell T Davies style is more suited to Doctor Who, that's not a criticism as I like them both. Even before Moffatt took over full time, the few episodes he wrote were always darker, more complicated and thought provoking, 'Blink' being the perfect example. I think it's been a great start and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
  15. I didn't watch it all, I saw quite a bit of it here and there throughout the day as I was going about my business, it looked like a fantastic ceremony and Kate looked stunning, I hope they are both very happy together.
  16. ^^^ I remember you, welcome back to the forum. It would be nice if you can join us for the Premiere, although I am still not 100% sure myself, more like 50/50 for me at the moment, will know for sure before the end of June, just hope I can still find a reasonable priced hotel room by then. I don't think there are any definite plans yet regarding meeting time, place etc.
  17. I thought it was a brilliant opening to the new series, Doctor Who at it's very best, I can't wait for Saturday's episode.
  18. Haha, 'Delilah' is our adopted song... I recorded this after the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UsjET9CRTc& Not Stoke fans at their best, a lot of us were still in shock at what we just witnessed. The guy near the end is one of my friends, he doesn't know yet that I recorded him and put it on YouTube
  19. On Sunday Stoke thrashed Bolton 5-0 in the FA Cup Semi Final at Wembley and I was there. I have been speechless all week, coming to terms with what I actually witnessed and the fact Stoke are in the FA Cup Final. Sunday was perfect, all the rubbish I have seen over the years following Stoke in the lower leagues has been worth it for a day like this.
  20. Very sad news about Elisabeth Sladen. They are going to pay tribute to her in Saturday's episode. R.I.P
  21. I miss the 90's because I had hair back then! Born in 1983, I did most of my growing up in the 90's, they were my school years and I remember them fondly, it was the period that I became interested in music when I started buying cassette tapes, I love 90's music, even some of the cheesey stuff (only occasionally though)! I used to record the top 40 every sunday and listen to it throughout the week on my walkman, these days I have hardly heard of most of the top 40 (a clear a sign as any I am getting old!) Life was simple, with no mobile phones, no internet and only 4 TV channels a lot of
  22. Super Jon Walters v Chelsea.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElrjTbLuZk4
  23. We absolutely battered Chelsea today and very unlucky not to have won the game, our best performance since we have been in the Premier League, we hit the bar twice and caused their defence problems all game. Super Jonny Walters with a 'Messi-esq' goal the icing on the cake, ran rings around £21m David Luiz.
  24. The Safety Dance by Man Without Hats is a brilliant suggestion, a great song. Nena with 99 Red Balloons (or 99 Luftballons) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14IRDDnEPR4 Gary Numan - Cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldyx3KHOFXw
  25. Has anyone seen the full trailer yet? It looks brilliant, and starts over the Easter weekend.
