Questions are always thrown around that pertain to the subject of "what do we like in the opposite sex?" Well, this thread is not for that. Instead, we will discuss how that fondness of particular features come about. Is it because of genetics, something one develops as they age, or something completely different?

Most of the time, attraction comes to genetics. Humans are pre-programed in their heads to seek a suitable mate that will ensure offspring that'll sustain the species. For example, most women look for a strong, fit man. The subconscious finds those traits attractive because he would have superior genes compared to other men.

Of course, there comes the personal and emotional aspect of attractiveness. Potential mates would be those who would be caring for any offspring. Human children are very dependent on their parents the longest compared to other animals in the animal kingdom, thus a mate that would seem to be more dedicate to the protection and care of the young is what humans find attractive.

There is a third aspect and that does not come from nature but rather culture and one's environment. It's the attraction not driven by genetics or subconsciously by fully conscious preferences in a potential mate.
