Movie characters you admire

Recommended Posts

Not necessarily a role model but what movie characters presented a personalty which you admired or looked up to?

One of mine is Gordon Gekko from Wall Street. This slick, smooth guy represented that executive badass character I quite liked. Although he's the villain in Wall Street (not much as one in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) he's just the kind of guy that owns power.

There are so many. Andy Defrain from Shawshank redemption, because he never lost hope even when life was so unfair to him.

Samwise Gamgee from LOTR, because he was a real friend. Not once did he lose his faith in Frodo and their goal. He faced all the same misfortunes and he was more patient and strong. According to me he was the real hero. Not Frodo.

Deborra Morgan from the Dexter series lol. She is a badass, she is honest and devoted to the law and her duty. Also a great sister and friend.

There are so many others; i'm sure i'll come up with many later.

Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. She's well read and headstrong and awesome! Jane Eyre, too.

I also love Isabel Allende's female characters, such as Clara, Blanca, and Alba from The House of the Spirits. It's one of my favorite books. :)

OH sorry i thought it was books. well, these could be movies too, I guess. But yeah I'm still keeping this here xD

You will like this......Darth Vader!

He always seems to know what to do and he's not above getting his hands dirty himself, but he tolerates crap from no one and if you bungle it too badly too often, you're dead.

There's probably others, but yeah, DV is definitely one. Tbh, I thot he was "da man with a plan" from the very first moment I saw him!

That goes without saying! Darth Vader is the greatest and the most epic movie character of all time!

Gosh there's so many!

Buffy Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer for being the best woman ever! Enough said.

Sam & Frodo from Lord of the Rings, they were faced with the most difficult task ever given to characters and they did it. So strong :sob: And Sam is the most brave character ever. Ever.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid for being strong and independent and make her own decisions that will take her to her dream.

El Mariachi from Once Upon a Time in Mexico simply for being unbelievably awesome, and he goes out to have revenge on the people who slaughtered his family.

I'll end this never-ending list here. ^_^

Another one of mine is Edmond Dantes from The Count of Monte Cristo (book and film), I like Jim Caviezel's version of the character. This guy is just another "badass" and is one of those stonewall types that doesn't give up on his goals, even though he is bent on revenge.

Lmao uhmm i agree Darh Vader is one of the most epic characters of all times, but is he really a character you look up to? Even as Anakin, he was impatient, always doubt the ones who were trying to help him, did stupid things due to his passion without thinking, wanted power so much, ending killing Padme instead of protecting her. And as Darth Vader, he was just an emotionless machine, except the end. I accept he was a tragic character and yes he was a fearsome leader but is this what you look up to?

Lol...I guess the answers in this thread tell a lot about the psyche of the individual. We like characters whose traits we can empathize with or that we'd like to emulate in certain ways.

So yeah *gulp* I guess one of my guilty secrets is out!

:o

Well Lord Vader is one of my favs because he's the kind of person that simply commands power. Darth Vader in the original trilogy was seen as the most evil character but was also the most powerful. Everyone, including the rebels who knew about him respected him. His subordinates in the Imperial military fear him when he's around.

But the kind of power he commands isn't really to strive for...? He puts fear in people, they don't respect him for being smart or having done something great, but simply because he'd kill them if they didn't respect him. :P

I really didn't see it that way. What you describe is the way they see the emperor in StarWars.....I always felt that people (in the movie) saw Darth Vader as a fear-inspiring but very competent leader....even honorable and just....tho he set high standards and his justice was harsh.

LOL what a controversial character he must be if we talk about him this much...

Haha he's not controversial, it's that you admire him that's controversial ;) And kinda funny. Yeah I suppose that's the emperor, but I sorta see him and Darth Wader as one since they kinda are on the same team. ^_^ It's like saying you admire Saruman and he was on Sauron's team. If you see what I mean.

Holy c***! Not Saruman.....but that vision of Galadriel with the one ring had me going like "Yeah, that's more like it..."

The character I admire is Private Joker from Full Metal Jacket because he's a bit funny, serious and sensitive all at the same time.

He does personify the "duality of man" he himself explained to the colonel when asked about the "Born to Kill" helmet and the peace symbol on his flak jacket.

These are my movie characters that I admire:

-Forrest Gump

-Yoda in the Star Wars movies.

-Frodo, Gandalf and Legolas in Lord of the Rings and finally

-Hermione Granger in Harry Potter.

We all want to be that young lil' know-it-all from Hogwarts don't we?

That's why I like him, especially when he says " I wanted to see exotic Vietnam... the crown jewel of Southeast Asia. I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture... and kill them. I wanted to be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill! ".
