International Best Dressed

Recommended Posts

What are some people (celebrity, political, etc.) whos fashion sense you admire and you think deserves recognition?

I'll start with the first lady of Qatar, Sheikha Moza Al-Misned. Unlike many other monarchical wives in the Middle East, Sheikha Mozah has been a high-profile figure in her nation's politics and society, actively involved in Qatar's government. She has been named as one of Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women. And just recently she was listed in Vanity Fair's 2011 international best dressed. I think her style is the epitome of elegance.

Do you really mean it? She has basically got blankets over herself. However I have to agree that it is much better than the usual islamic “fashionâ€.

Ehm! You don't have any respect to others? Seriously why you're alive? As I'm Qatari girl (Muslim) dear you don't have the right to say something like this about sheikha Moza! Ok even you better stop posting around the forum cuz all what you say is rubbish and if u don't like the Islamic fashion you don't need to share it ok keep ur comments for ur self no one interesting to know ur opinion ^^

Back to topic, I agree with ya Tara her style is so awesome and elegant!

I do not understand what you wrote but I presume that it was intended to be insulting. You are utterly wrong about the demand for my opinions – just like yourself, I share them without specifically being asked to because I am on an internet forum which is intended for sharing opinions. I am not trying to enrage the members of this internet forum, I just present my sincere opinions which are unfortunately disliked by the majority and to which they object.

Regarding this thread, my opinion is that I do not see a difference between

and

and that is the fact.

However, I have the deepest respect for people who are truly well-dressed:

Edit: I have just noticed His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales on one of the OP's photos. The topic now seems to be much better!

^ you said "She has basically got blankets over herself"

Pffff even I don't want to argue with ya!

And the above photo that does not consider as a fashion :) (the women)

That is correct. (Or bed sheets, if do not know what blankets are.)

The OP did not state any such condition: “What are some people (celebrity, political, etc.) whos fashion sense you admire and you think deserves recognition?â€

I can assure you that men's fashion exists. Now read the article, finish your milk and head to the bed, young lady.

and

I agree with you Tara!!! She has AMAXING style!!!

I always have admired Emma watsons style of course. She is actually one of my favorite fashion icons! As for who else? I don't know. Thats a tough one. Fashion today has become so much more relaxed than I like. So many of the women I once admired are now wearing clothes that I really don't like!!!

But, I do love Victoria beckham's style!!! She always looks amazing!!!

This is one of the most inappropriate posts I have ever seen. Why are you insulting someone's religion like that?

I am not going to try to deny my disapproval and a strong aversion to Islam, but as I was warned that the free speech is not a value round here, I have decided to keep these opinions to myself. Commenting the “fashion†of a certain group of people with common features is however irrelevant and should not be prohibited. People usually say that rappers look stupid due to wearing their trousers too low in combination with oversized tees or that hipsters look ridiculous with their hipster frames. We all are used to prefer some styles over others so I do not see a reason why should I be quiet about the fact that Islamic “fashion†is the same as taking a bunch of bed sheets and putting them over the body. I am unconcerned about the women who live in a “cage of clothes†because they have chosen not to fight the oppression, but if someone claims he likes their style, I believe I have the right to claim otherwise and to give reasons.

Even as a orthodox Jew your post offends me!

I can see that by looking at your photo, but does it really offend you? I am not denying the Holocaust, young lady, only commenting on clothes...

Umm last time I checked rap is not considered a religion. You are blatantly disrespecting someones religion! Free speech has nothing to do with this at all! You should not speak about things you know nothing amount. I have many friends who are Muslim, and I have discussed both the Hijab and Burka with them immensely. What you are saying is just downright offensive.

You can see that by looking at my photo? What does that even mean? If it didn't offend me, why would I say it did? What the heck does this have to do with the Holocaust?! You just keep digging your whole deeper and deeper. How many offensive comments can one person make in a single post?

Seeing as this topic will mainly target people who do like Sheikha's fashion, comments like these are bound to attract negative comments in response. Sure, you don't have to agree with the original post, but maybe it's best you just keep these thoughts to yourself.

Now, back on topic please.

I shall just politely answer the questions given to me hereinbefore, if I may.

Why is religion so different? It is a belief which affects one's life and the same could be rap – or I should rather say hip-hop, which is a form of musical expression and artistic culture including clothing style. You are so ignorant that you forget to question the dogmas. There is no relevant difference between a religion and a culture. If I have decided that my newly created religion considers Jews responsible for every disaster which has ever happened, would it be disrespectful and wrong for you to call me an idiot? It would be impossible to prove me wrong but I bet you would change your attitude then.

Free speech is an important right which is currently being devalued in the western society under the pressure of homosexuals, muslims, black people, gypsies and even our own governments. I believe that if a homosexual has the right to organise a protest action, claiming that they should have the right to adopt children, heterosexuals should have the same right, which is to express their negative attitude towards homosexuals. The same with muslims. Here in the UK, there was a case of muslims being angry over a mascot of a local police constabulary – it was a dog and since they hate dogs, they forced the police to put the campaign to an end based on a religious claim in our country! In our Christian country with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II being the Supreme Governor of the Church of England! How dare they?! I know of many more examples which I am not going to bring up as I do not want to get banned.

The nose, obviously. :sweatdrop: I used the Holocaust denial as a typical example of something that could offend a Jew. There is no rational reason for you being offended by my statements on islamic “fashionâ€.

If you meant a hole, then I do not mind it. Unlike you, I am calm and unconcerned by your attacks. You can keep on, I am used to academic debates which are far more tense. In fact, I am just a bit tired after a long day at work.

Was this necessary?

No, it was not. Just like a hundred per cent of posts here.

Your a sad man with no sense of direction in your life with nothing better to do than try annoy people online.

That member has been banned, so let's drop it now and continue on with the original idea of the topic.

I only realized that after I posted *facepalm* Im slow lol

I was thinking about who else I really admire fashion wise. I am going to add Anne Hathaway and Florence from Florence and the Machine.

It is a shame William Cavendish does not know the difference between Sharia Law and the Qu'ran (it actually goes against the teachings of holy scripture; read section 2:256 of the Qu'ran.) There's also a difference in Sheikha's style compared to the 2 women in black. She wears hijab, the other 2 are wearing burqas. How exaggerative of him.

I love Florence's style as well! Very bohemian, indie. Another celebrity style I like is Zooey Deschanel's:

William Cavendish. I have to agree with you about the "muslim fashion" as you put it. Not when you said that it looks like they're wearing blankets..That was just unnecesary and offensive. But I agree when u said it was "opressing" However these women can't fight the law simply because they have no rights. Imagine living in a society where you get stoned to death or tortured for going against the goverment. It's terrible! I don't think the women choose to were the burka or a niqab, they are simply forced. But I think that if they had more rights a vast majority of them would stand up and fight. Your comments are simply unneccesary.

Thanks!
