Well, I know we all had books and novels that we just had to read in high school or college. Then you took chapter tests and before you know it you were done with the book and you took the test over the whole thing. As far as required readings for me, I can remember only a few of them:

Lord of The Flies

Fahrenheit 451

A Tale of Two Cities

The Great Gatsby

To Kill A Mockingbird

So, what were some (maybe all if you can remember them) of the books that you were required to read in school?

Edit: Oh...feel free to discuss the books as well (whatever books you had to read.)

What??? I admit it's not Kafka's best work but it is wasn't horrible. I think people most people are put off by existentialist literature which is what Kafka was good at, particularly with this and The Trial.

God I seriously have read hundreds. I'll name a few and forgo authors otherwise I'll be here all night.

Lord of The Flies

The Lord of the Rings (all 3)

The Hobbit

Fahrenheit 451

The Great Gatsby

To Kill a Mocking Bird

Jane Eyre

Life of Pi

Henry V

Romeo and Juliet

Hamlet

A Midsummer's Night Dream

Othello

A Clockwork Orange

The Trial

The Metamorphosis

Things Fall Apart

The Diary of Anne Frank

The Catcher in the Rye

Uncle Tom's Cabin

Animal Farm

1984

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich

All Quiet on the Western Front

Catch-22

Brave New World

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep

Handmaiden's Tale

The Left Hand of Darkness

Frieda Kahlo's Biography

The works of John Keats (Bright Star)

Heart of Darkness

Johnny Tremain

Red Badge of Courage

Sherlock Holmes (Adventures, Memoirs, and Return of)

Slaughter House Five

Night

Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

A Single Man

Woman Warrior

War of the Worlds

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime

Honestly there are still quite a few I've left out. When all is said and done I'm pretty sure since 6th grade up to this point I've probably read over 100-150 books for school. Of course if you aren't counting school the amount of books I've read is far higher and if you count short stories and poetry the figure is astronomical ^.^.

I had to read that and annotate that stupid thing for theatre studies, had to turn it into a play. It was so frustrating lol.
