gwendelin
So, I've been working since I turned 16 and I've graduated High School but never started college. My reasons being I just wasnt sure what I wanted to do or where to go. I could have gone with all my friends but the college didnt have a music program I was interested in. Im really good at playing violin and I was considering going to Juilliard School In New York. But Im really interested in being a producer and song writer too. Plus I'd kinda like to go to a school with a great sports criteria. Football, Tennis, Softball ETC. I guess I'm starting this topic so if your going to college or planning on going, you can brag about it and discuss and agree and disagree hehe My top three schools of choice are: 1. Juilliard School 2. Berklee College of Music 3. University of California - Berkeley
Sgt Harbinger
I cannot say which college is the best one for sure. It is your overall decision which college you go to, but my advice to you would be go to a website and read some reviews that some people have posted about each college and, if it comes down to it, base your decision off those reviews. If 15 people have a complaint about a school, and all 15 people have that same complaint, it is most likely a sign to stay away from that particular school, depending on the complaint. Emmafan456
Yes,college definitely helps you on the way to a great future i agree, look at reviews of what people have posted online about some colleges that are local to you and you are interested in :)and don't choose a college/course just because your friends are going there or taking that option or you'll be stuck with something you're not interested in,which isn't right...you have to enjoy the course, whilst gaining experience to help you get a job hope this helps
gwendelin
What college would you go to if you could go anywhere?
Karen
Well, I'm a bit biased because I live in Boston, but Berklee is seriously an AMAZING school for music! I don't think people realize just how tough it is! They place an emphasis not only on music but on your schoolwork as well. If you do want to apply there, research the addition process really thoroughly because I'm not sure if you'd actually have to come to boston to audition or if you can send a CD. Definitely research thoroughly! But I can assure you that if you want to do music, berklee is INCREDIBLE.
Sgt Harbinger
What college would you go to if you could go anywhere? As for me, I would go to Ohio State University, but that's just me because I'm from there and I've had friends go there. But, if we're talking about colleges from Cali, I don't know. However, research is a must before going to, or even inquiring about any college. You don't want to make a decision that you will later regret, especially when it comes to colleges. Sgt Harbinger
LOL so you'd go to Ohio State just because your from there? What you wanna major in at Ohio State? The problem with going to an "out-of-state" college is that you don't know the town, you don't know the environment, and you don't know the people. If I went to Ohio State, I would already know the town, I would know the environment and I would have friends that are already going there. Getting tangled up with the wrong group at the wrong college could be dangerous.
gwendelin
I guess I can understand that but now it feels weird going to college after I've been out of school for 2 years. Is it true community college is cheaper but cant be as effective and efficient as a 4 year college?
Sgt Harbinger
Is it true community college is cheaper but cant be as effective and efficient as a 4 year college? I'm really sorry that it took me 98 years to reply back to this haha. Um...well a community college is cheaper then a big college. However, do not let the "big name" colleges fool you. Most community colleges are just as effective as say...UCLA or Stanford at teaching the correct material.

Is it true community college is cheaper but cant be as effective and efficient as a 4 year college? You can only get an associates degree from certain community schools. Or you get some type of like certificate and have to finish somewhere else. Atleast that how the community school near me works. You do two years there, then you transfer to the bigger university close by. I go to that uni so I know tons of people that went that route to save money. But, a instate public universities are also much much cheaper. My school is $16,000 a year. Which is nothing compared to most schools. And, trust me, the education is just as good!
