Is Filch Evil?

I was just watching 0OTP, and Filch likes chucks paintings, and kind of punishes kids? Is he evil? In the books, he too seems like uh mean.. rite? Just a Q

I don't think he is evil. Not in a Voldemort sort of way. He could be mean and cruel to the kids at times, but I think it's because he is so bitter about being a squib in a magical world, and the kids remind him of what he will never be.

I agree with dook, and Dumbledore probably wouldn't allow him to live in the castle if he couldn't be trusted.

I personally think that Filtch is just looking for attention and approval in his life, and that is why he is easily controlled within the castle. He is neither good nor evil perhaps? I have never really figured out what I learned from Filch except for the fact that he made such interesting little diversions from the main storyline in all of the books.

Well I guess thats a good question since his cats eyes are red but I dont think that hes evil, instead I think that hes grumpy and unsure of himself since he is a squib.

I don't think he's really evil, he just wants to punsih students in a cruel way but I don't think he's really evil.

Nahh he isn't evil. I read in one of the books that he's just angry that he could never be a full wizard. He's a squib (I think that's what it's called). He's probably misunderstood too.

I think he isn't evil. He is very sad, that he is a squib.
