No idea where to put this but as it says health I just decided to post it here.

I've had a VERY sore left eye for 4 days. Today is the worst it's no longer red it is going purple. I admit at first I itched but I stopped. I googled how to sooth it and it said to wash it out, though you do that by holding warm cotton on the outside of your eye lid. Never worked. I asked someone I know and they said to rinse it out in cold luke warm water and all that did was dry it out!

Please does anyone have any tips. It's 3 days until my doctors appointment and it's so SO sore.

My first suggestion would be to tell the doctor it's getting worse and can you move your appointment up. If that doesn't work, do you have access to an urgent care facility? Your eyesight is not something you want to risk.

The eye is purple, or your eyelid? It could be a reaction to something. Stop using any makeup or other facial products, especially anything new, until you find out what's going on. Not sure what you mean by warm cotton. I would try a washcloth/facecloth/face flannel dampened with warm water and hold that gently on your eyelid.

Make up infection would be my first thought. Also do you wear any contacts? I can't quite tell what it is or how to deal with it, but since it got purple I'd go straight to the doctor, telling them it's an emergency. Or even calling them and ask for some tips over the phone at least? I mean as dook said you can't afford risking anything about your eye sight. I'd be terrified!

It sounds like either an infection or an allergic reaction. If it's starting to discolor and turn purple my first thought would be infection, itchiness would also be a symptom of that. Since you've suffered from it for at least 4 days I'd say that's further indication of infection (Unless as Dook pointed out you've started using some type of new makeup or product that you haven't used before). I wouldn't wait, I would do what Dook suggested and call your doctor and try to push the appointment up. If that's not an option then seek an urgent care facility. If it is an infection it can get progressively worse, fast, so it's not a good idea to leave it untreated.

The warm cotton is the same as warm wash cloth. It's just cotton wool. >.<

It's purple from the inner corner and spreads out. I admit my itching turned it from red to purple so I stopped and today it's just red. I only wear foundation and I've used it for 3 years, so I'm down on make-up. My right eye burns but it's not sore, itchy and burning like my left. If it's still bad tomorrow morning a family member will be taking me up. I just really need something to sooth it because it's horrible and you can't exactly take paracetamol for this sort of thing.
