I probably don't have to mention it, but Kickstarter is a platform that gives everyone the chance to help fund all kinds of creative endeavours, be it games, books, music, movies, devices etc.

Personally, I've backed these projects:

Tides of Numenera

Project: Eternity

And another one on Indiegogo, a site with basically the same concept:

Grimoire
(best pitch videos ever, lol)

and two others that failed (got cancelled or didn't reach their funding goal).

Have you backed or are you planning to back any projects? If so, which?

I only backed one project which was Project Giana

I wanted to back Project: Eternity, but then I decided that I still have enough games that kind that I didn't played yet. But I'm still looking if there is an interesting project which I might back.

I backed SGC(Screwattack Gaming Convention) and thought of backing Star Citizen...but didn't have the money at the time...but I like he platform very much.

Star Citizen looked very interesting, and IIRC they had one of the first really polished presentations on the site.

I'm also thinking about Shroud of the Avatar, but it seems to be mostly concerned with online play and I don't really like MMO's.
