Roberto
"The companies are eyeing an April release but sources said the film is undergoing reshoots this month, so the time might be tight." http://deadline.com/2017/01/stx-entertainment-valerian-luc-besson-europacorp-1201877916/
Thessalie
Did someone see the movie in the US?I saw that in France it's coming late in July! On the 19th to be exact (source Allociné http://www.allocine.fr/film/fichefilm_gen_cfilm=234164.html) I however went to see the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, it's dreadful https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_circle_2017/I'm sad for Emma, she didn't get so many good reviews for her movies. I mean, Natalie Portman started with a full load of great movies acclaimed by the critic, I wished the same for Emma.
Roberto
It has some pretty serious flaws in its script. Some of them are due to decisions made at the outset by writers David Eggers and James Ponsoldt, while others are because the studio Europacorp intervened after production and forced reshoots and editing to take place that made the movie feel downright incomprehensible. So yes, it's not very good. Having said that, all the major performances are still solid for what they were working with. Also, Danny Elfman's score is excellent.

Thessalie
Really?! Ugh it looks so good tho! Although I guess I really just have to judge for myself. :/Sure, I always judge for myself as I often really like movies considered not to be good.Like I analysed Tom Hanks 's movie ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, I loved some negatively reviewed movies of him. I however wished she had a strong resumé, I'm scared of her becoming an actress not recognized and not appreciated for her talent.

I don't know how many people are on Tumblr on this site but there's been A LOT of Emma hate ever since Beauty and the Beast came out.Oh really? I'm not there often and I only pay attention to the fan art and pictures. Is it because they don't like her interpratation? On watsonuncensored there is a discussion about her acting skills on the last post which is really interesting. Seems like she can do great but is often constant in her acting. She seems nervous on camera and has few ranges of emotions (like she only know one way to show exitment by screaming with the same scream).

It reminds me of when everyone was like OBSESSED with Jennifer Lawrence then all of a sudden everyone started hating her. From what I've read it seems more that she's being hated on for her being open about feminism. That's when it started. If it is her acting tho, I think that's 100% stupid because we have to remember Emma was playing the same exact part for 10 years (minus Ballet Shoes). She's still growing in her craft. People are just finding reasons to hate anything or anyone these days.
Gabby
I thought "The Circle" was a decent film. Watched it back in April in Toronto and was very confused about how it was still premiering months later in some other countries... it probably leaked ages ago, too. And, about Emma's acting, I personally believe she needs practice. She was unfortunate in a sense that her very first acting job made her famous worldwide, and now that she is known as someone who's been acting for so long, people expect her to be extraordinary... forgetting she spent a huge chunk of that time playing the exact same character, as it was previously pointed out. It's like she needs to do the opposite of other actors - go from huge blockbusters to smaller films, even though any small film is likely going to receive a lot of buzz simply because she is in the cast. I know her fame is always going to be immensely helpful for her, but I consider this to be a downside. Also, I wonder if Emma has had acting lessons? I don't recall reading about it, but I've heard of several actresses that have been doing that for years, such as Elle Fanning and Lily Collins. You can already see Lily's improvement from "Mirror, Mirror" to "Love, Rosie" and "Okja", and I'm shocked anyone thought Elle even needed it, so it's nice that she still makes the effort. Ashley
Well, I finally saw the Circle and although, I really wish the ending was a tad longer, I don't get the hate. I thought the acting was good and the story was well done. It reminded me a bit of the TV show "Black Mirror." I love Mae. Her character was really complex. She went in looking for answers to help her family, was easily manipulated by the company (kind of like a cult) and then got revenge. I really really enjoyed it. I also thought it was going to be farther into the future, and I'm glad it wasn't. It made the thriller part better. Advanced technology creeps me out and this technology def creeped me out.... Overall, id def give it a 4/5 I personally think it's one of my top fav Emma performances, probably right after Colonial. Edited August 30, 2017 by Ashley
Thessalie
Well, I finally saw the Circle and although, I really wish the ending was a tad longer, I don't get the hate. Me too : saw it and I, too, don't understand the hate. It's far to be the sh*ttiest movie of the year, as it seemed to be when you read Rotten Tomatoes. I thought the acting was good and the story was well done. It reminded me a bit of the TV show "Black Mirror." I love Mae. Her character was really complex. Advanced technology creeps me out and this technology def creeped me out....I guess that's part of the problem for many people.1) It's not very scary, not so much suspense, just things happening one after the other, I wouldn't call it a thriller2) People compare to Black Mirror and see a bland version of it. I didn't watch BM but read reviews, BM is always coming back as a comparison and I guess it succeeded to be what The Circle aimed but missed to become... ...if that makes sense. Sorry sometimes I just wish I could record my voice, I'm more a spoken than written person. __I was a bit disturbed by the fact that Mae is always changing her mind. Only stupid people don't change their mind, I know, but she starts from being critical and aware, then in a day she goes the opposite way. That was a bit tough to follow. Also, I have to admit I must have missed a bit of the meaning of the movie because I didn't have the subtitles, but I didn't get what really happened to her best girl friend. On a more positive note, I'm glad we have a movie with Emma being this present and with so much dialogue. I'm tired of having her on screen saying nothing, being pretty (yes, even in HP). I'm tired of having her on screen saying nothing, being pretty (yes, even in HP).I think people miss the "thriller" part because we are so close to this kind of technology right now, that it doesn't really SEEM that scary because we literally are documenting our every move on social media, just a tiny step forward and we'd be in "The Circle". What scares me is the cult aspect, because I've legit been in one. So it scared me in that aspect. And lol you sound fine! I was watching the behind the scenes and they said the book is really just all in Mae's head and putting that onto the screen would be very hard in a less than 2 hour film, so I see what you mean. It can be hard to follow when you have to trust the director and cameras. Her friends job was really demanded. In the beginning of the filming she mentioned constantly going from country to country and Mae says something like "goodness, do you get any sleep?!" And she says something about "oh I'm fine I slept a few hours on the plane and I have pills." And then at the end if I remember correctly she says something about almost dying. So the company was literally killing the poor girl because it was so demanding of her. And I 100% agree. This film and Colonia, she really seemed to have an actual character with an actual complex personally. Not that Hermione didn't, but i just feel like Emma just literally IS Hermione. Her personally is just way too much like Hermione's.
