Jung And Myers-Briggs Typology

Recommended Posts

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. These preferences were extrapolated from the typological theories proposed by Carl Gustav Jung and first published in his 1921 book Psychological Types (English edition, 1923).

My class and I had to do this in Biology back in early September. I was skeptical at first, but after I completed it it described me perfectly!

After taking the free, multiple choice 72 questions test by answering it honestly, you get your results back, which are free. You get a description of the type, and possible jobs that are perfect for you.

I'm an INTJ (3% of pop.)

P.S. In case anyone was wondering, Emma Watson is a INFJ (1% of pop.) personality

Interesting...

My type is ISTJ

I am:

* very expressed introvert

* distinctively expressed sensing personality

* moderately expressed thinking personality

* slightly expressed judging personality

Careers which are suitable for me...

Avionics, TV-Radio Technician, Electronics Electrican, Mechanic, Truck Driver, Police, Security, Administrative Management, Accounting.

Interesting that a lot of those jobs are quite hands on as I actually work in manufacturing as a hydraulic hose technician.

Yeah, this test is really quite accurate. For example, it says that I would be good as a lawyer. In school, my class had a mock trial and I was deemed best lawyer. It also says that I would be a good computer programer; I'm learning how to make apps for the iPad and iPhone :P.

I forgot to put this before:

  • I live in the world of strategic planning
  • I value intelligence, knowledge, and competence, and typically have high standards in these regards, which I continuously strive to fulfill
  • I am tremendously insightful and usually am very quick to understand new ideas. However, my primary interest is not understanding a concept, but rather applying that concept in a useful way
  • I am a natural leader, although I usually choose to remain in the background until I see a real need to take over the lead. When I am in leadership roles, I am quite effective, because I am able to objectively see the reality of a situation, and am adaptable enough to change things which aren't working well
  • I have insight into the Big Picture, and am driven to synthesize my concepts into solid plans of action
  • I also can be really good at telling jokes, and exhibiting a sarcastic wit with a poker face.

This describes me perfectly

Famous people:

  • Augustus Caesar
  • Steven Hawking
  • Hannibal Barca
  • Niels Bohr
  • Thomas Jefferson
  • Isaac Newton
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower

The test says I'm a INFJ (1-3% of the population). Most of it is accurate. But I also have values of an INTJ if you ask me.

Some famouse INFJ's are: Goethe, Martin Van Buren, Jimmy Carter, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and others.

I'm ISTJ as well, although it tells me that I'm

  • moderately expressed introvert
  • moderately expressed sensing personality
  • moderately expressed thinking personality
  • slightly expressed judging personality

Apparently I'm very moderate.

To give it credit, it suggested "Computer Programming", among other careers, which is, by and large, what I do.

I did this for one of my classes at university and was pretty interesting considering many Fortune 500 companies use this personality type indicator.

I got ENTJ, the "Fieldmarshal" personality: Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging.

The MBTI describes ENTJ's as:

Frank, decisive, assume leadership readily. Quickly see illogical and inefficient procedures and policies, develop and implement comprehensive systems to solve organizational problems. Enjoy long-term planning and goal setting. Usually well informed, well read, enjoy expanding their knowledge and passing it on to others. Forceful in presenting their ideas.

For the most part that's true although I do believe that I'm more of an introvert (kept coming up as an extrovert every time I took it though). I see myself in many of the other types but ENTJ seems to be my dominant type. According to Keirsey, they're more comfortable and most driven towards in a leadership position in their job field. On a side-note, Emma's apparent type of INFJ mentioned before is considered the "Teacher" personality.

Notable people who are ENTJ's are: Margaret Thatcher, Harrison Ford, Napoleon Bonaparte and Bill Gates.
