Winter Storms...

Recommended Posts

So... any of you Americans like me on here sick of the arctic storms already? Driving in this ice really sucks but... fun haha. 3 days of classes canceled at my university and possibly a 4th day. Everyone's pretty much been snowed in for the past week.

I like his explanation.

When you were talking about storms I thought this was for what happened in Australia.

Not only Australia gets storms. :P But good question, any news on that?

Well I heard about it, even Arizona is very stormy these days. I'm not sure what happens in northern Arizona, but the south part where my family lives is very stormy, without any snow though.

It's winter. Snow happens. I get so tired of all this sky is falling science and it is nothing new. Right now it's global warming but 35 years ago it was global cooling and the scientists were really worried about a second ice age. Fear mongering is all it was.

If it snows too much it's global warming. If it doesn't snow enough, it's global warming. Wake me up when it snows just enough.

Personally I haven't noticed that big of a difference in how much snow we get from when I was a kid to now. Yes, there have been some fluctuations in weather from then to now but the pendulum always seems to swing back the other way eventually and correct itself.

Maybe it isn't global warming at all. Maybe it's like in the book of Revelation - the floods, the wild fires, the tsunamis, the earthquakes in parts of the world that don't normally get earthquakes, birds falling out of the sky. Maybe no matter how green you try to be you will never have an affect on it because it's preordained. Think about that.

Hm, skeptical towards global warming much?

These past two winters (more the last one) in Sweden have been colder than average during 1900, but I don't see that as anything strange. Earth is ever-changing!

But I admit I'm sick of winter, especially here where my apartment building is located, the winds are just... sick, can barely walk outside sometimes.

BUT all the other natural catastrophes that's been happening around the globe these past few years have been insane.

According to the forecast, the UK is going to be battered by storms for the next 2 weeks, followed by some snow at the end of the month. :whaa:

Is it because of Global Warming, I don't know, but there seems to be a lot of freakish weather all over the world lately.

Yeah, and maybe it's just winter. You know, since winter usually brings cold weather. And when it rains during cold weather, it turns to snow. That may be why we have been getting this so-called "high amounts" of snow, now suddenly called a man-made phenomenon. Also, can you please explain to me what this is:

This proves what? Glacial retreat is a natural thing. And, I say again, this proves what?

P.S. Scientists are now calling it Global Climate Change, not Global Warming :P

Although that chart does show above snow fall totals, it certainly doesn't confirm global climate change. Frankly I'm a bit torn on the subject of climate change caused by mankind. If I had to pick, I would say that the drastic weather is caused my La Nina, which has been shown to change weather patterns.

I was just posting the graph to show people how much snow we actually got :P. I didn't mean for it to be interpreted as global warming (etc).

Mini Winter Olympics FTW!!

We got an immediate freeze after rains the other day. Some buddies and I went to a local park and pulled a sled with an ATV, waaay more fun than downhill.

Now THAT sounds like fun! :yesyes:.

Also, the same thing happened to us a few nights back. But once noon came the ice was gone.

Way to hijack this thread and turn it into a Global Warming debate... *facepalm

In any case, severe winter weather is nothing new.. just annoying.

Sorry about that sirb. I suppose I didn't help any by replying to that video. I also hate my threads get jacked.

fun to drive in too

I'm guessing you have a 4X4. It is fun to drive in when you have that. We've been hit recently with snow as well. I always like to get in the 4X4 and go out in it. I end up pulling out people in Camrys and Mini Coopers and such that are stuck. I honestly don't know what they're thinking trying to drive those tiny cars in such conditions.

We already got them. High winds, rain etc. My boyfriend set flight in a gust of wind i was holding onto the handle bars... we were laughing after though. It feels impossible to breathe in it.

Unfortunately, I don't. We would have a lot of fun sliding with my friend's 4x4 F150 in a parking lot. I make do with the few 'powerslides' in the FF I have. Getting and maintaining traction with such a small car and such slick roads is a little tricky but not impossible.

Tame the winds! Only then can you learn how to fly. j/k On the lighter side, spring is right around the corner and hopefully things should calm a bit then.

It will be valuable to determine if chronic downstream changes, such as the deposition of insoluble protein aggregates, can be reversed by inhibiting upstream events such as the formation of misfolded proteins where do i buy clomid online with viagra A p value will be calculated for each individual probe based on a paired, non parametric test Wilcoxon rank sum test
