  1. Yeah she modifies their memories so they don't remember her, but they still know each other and their lives. She also makes it so they feel like they HAVE to go to Australia so she can get them out of the country.

Well, they don't remember their lives. They think they are someone else, different names and everything. And no daughter.

  2. Yes, it's not in the book. JKR said Hermione found her parents and restored their memories in a press conference.

Was it an Obliviate charm? In the book Hermione tells Harry and Ron that she has modified her parent's memories, and that if they survived she would find them and lift the enchantment. Later in the book, Hermione says she has never done a memory charm, just that she knows the theory, before she uses Obliviate on Dolohov. So, I think she didn't erase the memories with Obliviate, just added new ones so they thought they were someone else.

  3. dook, I wouldn't even label it as the media making news out of nothing. The article is in actuality a blog. And as we know anyone can write a blog and not cite any sources. That's exactly what happened here. I think dazza is exactly right, there are no direct quotes by Emma so take it with a grain of salt.

There has been a lot of "news" sites also saying she is looking for a sexier image, and none of them that I have seen had relevant quotes from Emma. The blog is just repeating what others have said, which is what most "news" sites do.

  4. I joined these forums during the first week PoA was released and I remember at the time that the forums were pretty crazy, I don't think that it has been as mad as it was for PoA for any of the other movies. I think what it is that attracted people to Emma during that movie is her performance, she had a great releationship with Alfonso Cuaron and I think he allowed her to experess herself more as an actress. Emma had also grown up a lot since the second movie, perhaps even more so than between any of the other movies, she was starting to grow from this cute girl and into a beautiful young woman. Now, when I look back to the first movies I love everything about Hermione.

She did grow up a lot between CoS and PoA. I think that was the biggest gap between movies, and Emma was also the age for a girl's growth spurt. I don't think the public saw a lot of her in that time either. 2003 was a really slow year as far as Emma news. And then 2004 was huge. I think that, and her growing past the cute kid stage, is why so many people noticed her then.

  5. I don't think I've seen any quotes anywhere of Emma saying she wants a sexier image. She has said things about leaving Hermione behind, and with the new photoshoots in Marie Claire etc. the media has declared she is going for a sexier image. Except they forget she already had what they called "sexy" shoots over a year ago.

I would say it's just another case of the media making news about nothing. Everyone is now talking about how now Emma won't have her own perfume line. :rolleye: She said that a long time ago. How is it "news" now?

  6. Shame that we can't see it here in the States. I'm sure we will eventually, sometimes they show behind the scenes when ABC Family does their Harry Potter Weekend Marathon that they do several times throughout the year. But I've already seen bits of the running behind the scenes, I already knew about that zip wire thing they used for the camera, you can really tell in the film too because everyone is so blurry. haha.

I wouldn't expect it to ever be shown in the US. That expat shield that Laura mentions would work to view it on ITV. You can also find the whole program on youtube, in 3 parts.

  7. I will really miss the Harry Potter days too. I was re-watching the past movies lately. I kept reminiscing during certain scenes, thinking of footage or photos that had been released, or leaked from the set. Remembering all the excitement on fan sites every time something new came out about the next movie.

I am looking forward to see what else Emma will do, but I don't think anything will ever match the HP experience.

  8. I guess I would say it was Prisoner of Azkaban that started it for me too. I had liked Emma's performance since that first scene in Philosophers Stone, and I would say I was a fan, but not active at all. If I saw some news item about her I'd read it, but I didn't go looking for forums and such.

I saw PoA with a friend who is a huge fan of HP. She hated it. She was almost in tears at the end of the movie she thought it was so bad. PoA had been her favorite book so far and she though they had ruined it.

I hadn't at that time read any of the books, so I couldn't compare the book with the movie, or see why she was so upset. I started with PS and also started reading more online about HP in general, and about my favorite character Hermione. During the buildup to GoF is when I really became an active fan.

Anyway, I kind of rambled off topic. Hermione will always be Emma to me, but I hope Emma will be much more than just Hermione.

  9. You should see some of the stuff he did in his early days on shows like Blackadder, you really couldn't imagine him doing what he does now on House, it just shows him to be an incredible actor. I have read that during the filming period for House, he keeps the accent when going about his daily business too.

I had only seen Laurie on one other program besides House, and he had a really thick accent, the kind that Americans would have trouble understanding. I don't remember what the program was, I think he was playing a criminal. After that I was really impressed with his American accent. Then I saw him on a talk show in his normal voice which is much more in the middle. He does have quite a range.

  11. Calm it down Winder.

Did I say I was trying to find out or googling it? NO! I said let's speculate. It was just a subject for discussion. Something for fun. Kinda like "what would you do if you had Bill Gates' money?" Purely hypothetical but fun for discussion anyway.

I got an idea. How bout I buy you some reading comprehension lessons for Christmas. Maybe that way you wouldn't jump to conclusions before actually reading and you could get off my d**k.

When we started this forum, we decided that we would be a bit more lenient on what words could be used.

However, "Language used in a disrespectful or abusive manner will not be tolerated on the forum"

I suggest you tone it down a bit.

  12. How do you think they feel, getting asked the same questions over and over?

A lot of the print interviews are the same because the journalists were all at the same press conference or whatever, so they're all working from the same source. And of course a lot of sites just copy/paste interviews from other sites and pretend it's their own interview, some even claiming "exclusive".
