  1. One of the best action films ever. Can't say I feel the same way about the sequels. I've seen this movie so many times and it's still great. Love the part where the lady is telling him that "this channel is reserved for emergencies only."

  2. I thought Emma looked a little sad and upset at the begining of the Bafta's as well but i just chalked it down to the events of the previous day and Emma being a bit upset at what happened.

    You're gonna hafta fill me in. What happened the previous day that would upset her?

  3. I was thinking about this for years now and I didn't find an answer. Maybe someone in this forum will have one.

    We all now that in Harry Potter an Half-Blood has an muggle and a witch/wizard as parents.

    Voldemort = muggle + witch

    Snape = muggle + witch

    What about Harry?

    His parents are both were magical. We all know that Lily has muggle parents but she is a witch and James Potter also a wizard. So I don't understand why all people say that Harry is a Half-Blood like Snape and Voldemort. Maybe he is 1/4 a muggle and 3/4 a wizard.

    I hope it isn't that confusing.

    I've always wondered that myself.

  4. I don't blame you for wanting to keep that part of your identity. You don't want to become homogenized with the rest of Europe. But as far as them being respected and admired from abroad, it just ain't so in the U.S. Over here they rank on about the same level as the Kardashians. They are good for tabloid material but beyond that...

  5. I think she could've been honest about not being familiar with Emma without being rude. In the biz it's called getting Big Timed. When a celeb feels they're too important to waste their time on you then they're Big Timing you. Journalist deal with this all the time from sports figures and celebs they have to interview or cover. It's just unfortunate that Emma being presented an award got big timed by the presenter. Sure she may be more well known in the fashion world than Emma but to the world at large Emma is by far more well known world wide than this lady. It just seems like an attempt to steal some of Emma's spotlight.

    On the flip side, I can't see Emma ever Big Timing someone...even the smallest fan. I've read accounts from people who have met Emma or run into Emma in the most unlikely places and they all say how sweet and kind she is and how humble she is. This lady could learn a thing or two from the person she presented the award to. I hope Emma never becomes so jaded and loses this about herself. Other celebs should pattern themselves after Emma.

  6. This lady is asked to present this award and doesn't at least study up a bit on who she's supposed to award? I guess she just thinks it's all about her. I was speaking with a lady who's in her 70s a few months ago and she knew who Emma was although she has not seen any HP movies. She even knew enough about her to have an opinion. She said she thought that Emma dressed too old for her age. Although I don't agree with the opinion, she was able to carry on a conversation about her. So this Vivienne chick being 69 does not mean she's too old to know who Emma is.

    It just comes off as being self centered. It's basically saying "I'm too self important to be bothered with finding out who you are." It's not being honest, it's being rude.

  7. Saw it again on TV last night. I have to watch whenever I see it. I have the DVD but my wife has it now. Need to get it from her.

    Maybe the best film ever made. I can certainly appreciate Citizen Kane from a technical standpoint but emotionally I think Shawshank beats it. Shawshank is about universal truths that seem to touch everyone. Quite possibly the best movie ever put to celluloid. And that's not hyperbole.

  8. There's a reason they call them the greatest generation. And we're losing them with each passing year. These were just regular men who realized that freedom wasn't free. They looked into the face of evil and were willing to sacrifice everything to keep their loved ones back home safe.

  9. I keep seeing news stories about Prince Williams upcoming wedding and it got me to thinking. What is the British people's feelings toward the royal family. Are they still a big deal? Is it still a big part of your national identity? Or are they more on the peripheral now and not really thought of unless there's something big, like the wedding coming up?
