  1. I take it their name comes from Sanford and Son. Yes, I know that the lead dude's name is Mumford but as none of the other members are his sons I take it that the name is a bit tongue in cheek.

All their songs sound the same. Although some of their slow songs sound a lot like Mazzy Star.

  2. I would add Oasis. Most overrated band  I can think of. But their time is over... hopefully!

I don't know about the most overrated but they're up there. They were part of the Brit Pop movement which was a reaction against Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and other Seattle grunge bands. I remember one of the brothers (don't know which one - they're kinda like the Olsen twins as one is just like the other and it doesn't really matter) talking about how he hated Nirvana and they were stupid or some such. Not to mention Oasis tried to copy the Beatles and often had lawsuits brought against them because their songs were clear rip offs of other people's songs.

Any time you come from a place of jealousy then you're musical message is gonna be compromised.

  3. I cant remember which celeb said this but they said that whenever they have to do sit down interviews in a hotel and they have 10 mins with a reporter for like 4 hours. That they seriously all ask the same questions, just in a different way.

Fortunately the HP cast are very well looked after, and the HP people will have selected interviewers who wont ask questions that Dan/Emma/Rupert/Tom don't want to answer. Their questions will be looked over before they can even get into the room. Everything is regulated just so that they can have control over the media, because if they didn't it would be chaos and Emma would get questions like this asked. "How much money do you have in the bank?" and "How many boyfriends have you had" both of those questions are not related to the HP movie lol.

That goes for pretty much every star doing an interview, not just the HP stars. Many times stars or their publicist will get a look at the questions to be asked ahead of time and then neg any that they don't agree with.

  4. Each time a new HP comes out or if there's fresh news in the Emma world we get flooded with a ton of interviews both in print and on video. But they all have nearly identical information. Some are just reprints of interviews or articles appearing in other publications.

And it seems year after year during the HP premieres etc. the interviewers tend to ask the same or nearly the same questions. Regis has asked Emma if she's ever had a crush on a cast mate or dated Dan or Rupert for 10 years now. Tell me he's not going to ask that question when she goes on Regis & Kelly for the DH Pt. 2 interview.

I'd just love for interviewers (or even just one) to ask some original questions. Some probing questions that will reveal more about Emma's personality etc. Some thoughtful questions. A lot of these interviews sound as if they were written by 5th graders. Please just give something insightful. Something different.

  5. I'm not agree. Rupert and Emma have a great chemistry!! Did you feel the relationship between Ron and Hermione forced?? :0_0: The way they look at each other is pretty intense!!!!!! My heart almost explodes with all their love! The piano scene, the caffe scene, Ron's speech... very subtle moments, but still adorable

I'm sorry, but the H/Hr dance was embarrassing. It was very odd and out of characters. At the end of the scene I was like: what was that?? Very awkward. I must say that I loved the scene when Harry and Hermione were at the graveyard, it was very sad but sweet at the same time (these are canon Harry and Hermione).

Anyway, I liked the three of them. They were amazing, and together, they are powerful!!! I love the trio!! :)

I really wanted the R/Hr relationship and chemistry to work for me. It would've made an already great movie even better for me. I'm glad it worked for you and was an enjoyable experience for you. On the flip side I thought the H/Hr dance would've worked great if not for the poor choice in music. I'm not trying to offend those who like the song but even a good song at the wrong moment can ruin a scene.

I'm with you on the graveyard scene. I wished it'd been a little longer and given us and them a little time to linger in the moment and on the emotions and memories on things passed and things that never will be.

  6. I'm getting a divorce. My wife cheated on me. It's difficult. I just can't get the thought of her sleeping with other guys out of my head. Some days are better than others. I'm feeling particularly blue right now.

I still love my wife but as cruel as she's been, my fondness for her is fading. It's not just the sleeping with other guys, she's also over time attacked my manhood repeatedly (and no that's not a euphemism for kicking me in the n*ts). When she gets angry or we get in arguments she tries to make me feel like less of a man and says very cruel things.

After finding out about her infidelity, I tried to save the marriage. I set up marriage counseling and we went. She saw that I was willing to do anything to save our marriage and used this to further manipulate me. I'm starting to see it for what it is now.

So I'm feeling really down in the mouth today. Yeah, happy Thanksgiving, merry Christmas and a happy New Year too. The Holidays are shaping up to be a real punch in the heart.

I may put on a strong front to you guys but really I'm a thoughtful, sensitive, sentimental guy. It's difficult for me to deal with things coming to an end. It's hard for me to move on to other or new chapters of life. I tend to dwell on the past. I'm sure you can see that by reading some of my posts.

I enjoyed seeing the new HP movie. Even though it's make believe for a movie, it makes my problems seem not so big when you see the trio running for their lives.

I don't really want to go into deep detail as I don't like giving out too much detail and info on the Web. I'm not asking for advice or anything, I just wanted to put this out there. I just needed to get this off my chest. I came here to be with like minded people and possibly some kindred spirits. Hope you guys understand.

Mods, I didn't really know where to put this so if it's the wrong forum, feel free to move it.

  7. That's not necessarily Daniel's choice... Was it him or Rowling that wrote the books? She said that he and the other characters had to change clothes in The Seven Potters, and also to strip down in the lake scene, not Dan. Did you expect Harry to wear Fluer's and Hermione's clothes while flying? That'd be quite weird... I suppose they could've cut the changing part out but it's all in the book. Harry took his clothes off for the lake scene so he would have something warm to get into when he got out, the lake was icy with snow all around.

Easy. I was just joking -- I really need a sarcasm font.

  8. Found this quote about Hermione's torture scene:

    Q. What was Watson’s reaction?

Yates: The first time we did it, I [did] yell cut. Emma said, ‘You cut too early! You cut too early!’ She was getting to this intense point. And I said, ‘Well, it was getting scary, Ems!’ And she said, ‘No no no no, let me try, let me try.’ There were one or two moments that were really powerful, where Emma was able to just let go a little bit and forget for a moment that she was acting. And the screams were quite horrible to listen to. It was a very odd energy in the room. She was kind of exploring and exorcising demons really, and serving the scene doing that. I felt in that moment, and in that day and in that room, she kind of crossed the line as an actress. She discovered something within herself that will make her a great actor.

It seems that either Yates or the editors or both cut way too much of the scene in the editing room leaving very little in the actual movie. This was one of the most powerful scenes in the film. And as Yates stifled her acting by yelling cut too early, they stifled her again by not showcasing her full ability on screen.

And so this scene that Yates feels made Emma cross over into the realm of great actress is lost to the cutting room floor. Genius decision bra.

  9. wanted to get off my seat, walk up to the screen and punch Bellatrix in the face! (check my profile pic, you'll see it won't be a basic punch, it would be more professional ;))

    noavatar.png

This is your profile pic. Doesn't tell me a whole lot about how you might punch.

Seriously though - As much as I didn't feel there was any chemistry between Harry/Ginny I also felt with Ron/Hermione that it just wasn't there. Their "affection" for one another just felt forced. It felt like they were affectionate toward each other because the script told them they were supposed to be.

Dan and Emma have always had way more screen chemistry than Rupert and Emma. I'm assuming that this was at least part of the reason for the H/Hr dance. The director and producers saw that the chemistry between Rupert and Emma wasn't going to carry the film emotionally and romantically as the fans have come to expect. In order to solve this problem they put the two people with the best on screen chemistry together in what could've been a touching scene. Unlike some on here, I thought the song ruined the scene. It is not a danceable tune and wouldn't have made them want to dance. I hate when directors can't pick the correct song for a movie scene. I thought the same mistake was made multiple times in Watchmen.

Anyway, back to my original point. I think the filmmakers thought without some kind of romantic chemistry a good portion of the movie would be sunk and so latched onto whatever they could get. Over the years of the franchise it is also obvious that Dan and Emma are better and closer friends than Rupert and Emma. This comes through on screen.

A question. The scene of H/Hr kissing is obviously digitally enhanced. But how much? It's obvious Dan can't keep his clothes on - just look at him in Equus and the many scenes in Deathly Hallers where he's in his undies, almost nude, in a bra etc. But the question is, were they really nude in the kissing scene or is that all or mostly digital?

    **EDIT**

Forgot to say that the Hermione torture scene affected me the same way Dave.

In fact, I did go up and punch the screen and then they got their little movie theater security guards (who altogether weighed about 150 pounds soaking wet) to try and throw me out and I said "You're gonna have to do a lot better than that." So they got this big 6'9" 345 pound guy to throw me out and well...he's breathing through a tube right now. But I just read where Helena Bonham Carter suffered an unexplained broken nose at that very moment and now her nose looks like Voldemort's nose. BTW, can I borrow $10,000 bucks to post bail? ;)

  10. How is Jo getting on by the way mate, I haven't seen her since the London Premiere we were in.

Maybe I'm reading more into this than is there, but is this to mean that perhaps she wouldn't be well? Did something happen to her? I don't know her other than that she started emma-watson.net and that she moved on to do the official site but I'm just curious.

  11. I voted for Snape however, I don't know that I'd call it perfect casting as much as acting. I've been a fan of Rickman since Die Hard. I know that the Potter series is supposedly full of great actors but sometimes I feel that label is bestowed on people who have acted for a long time regardless of ability.

I know that this may be heresy to some of you but I believe Alan Rickman does the best acting job in this series and it's not even close.

  12. What about the location? What if your far from family and friends? What about the weather? The majors? The choice of classes? The other students there? What about the close ratio of 9 students per professor? What about the scholarship? The tuition?

If this person don't consider any of that, and just focuses on meeting Emma it might just be a waste/terrible 4 years. They might also take away a chance from a student who applied because they chose Brown as a whole.

I can think of a lot of worse case scenarios than "you get a great education."

That's what college is all about - leaving your parent's house. Going out on your own. If you've got a problem with that then you can just stay at home and go to the community college.

    I'm loving the emotional speech.

What? Is this supposed to be funny or something?

  13. I'm feeling ya Rathbone. You look back at how much they've changed and how far they've come as well as how far the stories have come. It makes you kinda sad and makes you nostalgic for the "old days". It's a good time to reminisce about it all. Watching these old vids it's difficult to believe that they're the same people.

The actors have had plenty of time to deal with this and move on as they wrapped shooting back in the summer. But for the fans we're just now coming to terms with the end what with this movie and then the FINAL movie next year. But you gotta give yourself this time to feel this and enjoy and appreciate the journey.
