  1. I know this is an NFL forum and this clip is from a college game but what a great hit. The guy was out cold before he hit the ground. The flag was late and undeserved - it was a completely legal and clean hit, just a very violent hit. Guy went to the hospital but is gonna be OK. If they're gonna throw flags like this then they ought to just have 'em all wear skirts and have tickle fights.

    AWESOME HIT!!

  2. I've never been to Soho, but if Emma is shopping there, the shops must be pretty good :) so i will definitely have to go in a few years when i have the money :) Emma looks lovely :)

FYI SoHo is not so much a place as it is an area of Manhattan. It's short for SOuth of HOuston street.

  3. Woop! At least someone else does. Seasick Steve is great BTW

Oh Seasick Steve. I thought you meant the blues. You know like Robert Johnson, Son House, Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters et. al.

  4. American fashion, eh? Unfortunate.

Hey, thanks for being a dick, Bill. In case you haven't noticed some of us on here are Americans. Not to mention what she's wearing doesn't look anything like American style but whatever.

On a side note: She's buying a crapload of cups and chips...Partaaaaaay!

  5. Rowling is a lover of words so the words and names she chooses for her stories all have meaning and a background. She didn't just pull a name like Dumbledore out of the air.

Here's something I found on Harry Potter wiki. A lot of this stuff(e.g. avada kedavra=abracadabra) we've all figured out for ourselves but it's good to get it straight from the horse's mouth so to speak-

During an audience interview at the Edinburgh Book Festival on 15 April, 2004, J. K. Rowling had this to say about the spell's etymology: "Does anyone know where avada kedavra came from? It is an ancient spell in Aramaic, and it is the original of abracadabra, which means 'let the thing be destroyed.' Originally, it was used to cure illness and the 'thing' was the illness, but I decided to make it the 'thing' as in the person standing in front of me. I take a lot of liberties with things like that. I twist them round and make them mine."[13]

Here's the link to the page - http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Killing_Curse

Not to mention that kedavra also sounds like the word cadaver which the recipient of the spell is. So the spell has multiple meanings and different levels.

  6. Correct me if I'm wrong but after just having a quick browse of Emma's wikipedia page it says she was reluctant to sign on in 2007 for the last films, so she would have missed HBP and both DH films..

Yeah, it was either after GoF or OOTP. Either way she would've missed three or four films.

  7. I hadn't seen this movie in years. I caught it on TV over the weekend. Forgot how good this movie is. I've always wondered about Kevin Spacey, he tends to play the types of characters where he's evil or just an ass or what-have-you. What's this guy like in real life? He can't be that great of an actor can he?

Below are spoilers to two of Spacey's movies - Se7en and The Usual Suspects. Both are very big spoilers so if you haven't seen the movies and have any intention of seeing them then you might want to avoid the spoilers right now.

He plays the killer in Se7en. And does so in such an amazing and convincing manner. It's very subdued. What you would imagine a real killer being like. This is not the over-the-top, scene chewing type of performance that Anthony Hopkins gave in Silence of the Lambs. No, this is a performance based in reality. Truly hateful and terrifying.

He plays Kaiser Soze in The Usual Suspects and again is the very methodical, maniacal sociopath.

He played a jerk of sorts in American Beauty. He was definitely a jerk in Horrible Bosses - a funny movie but Spacey did not play his role for laughs. You really didn't like his character. He played the evil Lex Luther in the failed Superman reboot several years ago.

Se7en is an excellent movie. Probably not one you want to see several times. But if you do see it, be sure to see the true version and not some chopped up broadcast TV version.

  8. But seeing as it was only the 4th movie, do you think that they could have gotten away with another member as Hermione?

Like, do you think that they could have got someone else and everyone would have grown as attached to her? Or had Emma made too much of an impact to everyone by that stage?

Good points. This was kinda the direction I was going. I think it would've been difficult as everyone had grown attached to Emma as Hermione at that point.

It was pretty easy to get away with replacing Dumbledore as 1) he's a peripheral character and 2) the actor is obscured by the robes, the beard and the long hair. As for Hermione, not so much.

For instance, look at the TV show Cheers. Kirstie Alley was on the show longer than Shelly Long but since she replaced Long she was always viewed as the new girl.

  9. What if the sky was blue... oh wait..

I said this thread would take some imagination. Obviously it's not for you. Move along.

The only other person that I can think of that could act that role would be Annesophie Robb. But shes too young

    Excellent choice.

I would have been very sad!!!! Emma brought heart, soul, and spirit to the Hermione role-she was what I pictured to be Hermione. I am just very happy that she decided even at such a pivotal age (what 14/15/16?) to come back to complete her work on the Potter series for the remaining 6 years. I mean this was not an easy task-yes she makes boatloads of money and such but to say I am putting my life into this movie series for another 6 years (same w. the other guys) must have been a rather difficult decision. Not to mention the daunting task of playing day in and day out for what 9-12 months each time for filming.

You're right, it was a big decision. She was probably worn out and signing on for 6 more years would have been daunting. Not an easy decision for her. Maybe an easier decision for Dan and Rupert. As it seems Dan was committed and wanted to be an actor and had no qualms being famous. For Rupert he didn't have to deal with the fame on the same level as Dan or Emma.

  10. I believe it was after the 4th movie that she considered not coming back.

What if she had bowed out? Who do you think they would've gotten? If you couldn't have Emma come back, then who would you like have to seen in the role? How would it have changed the series? What would have become of Emma? Would she regret it? Get back into movies? Or just be happy being normal again? How would you have felt? Would you continue seeing the movies without her in them?

This thread is going to take a little imagination, so let loose.

  11. Saying "it's natural" isn't a good enough excuse. Taking a dump is natural too but I doubt too many of you would be okay with it if I just dropped my pants and took a crap in the middle of a restaurant you're eating in. But I covered up, so it's okay.

Also, don't like when a woman's got her boob out in public and we're supposed to act like it's not there. They scowl when we look at them. It's a boob...in public. C'mon!

  12. I wouldn't say that, I would say more that the age of forums is dead. With things like Facebook which are more inclusive and offer more variety on what you can do, forums have started to die out. After the last two films I wasn't expecting a big boost this time around. There are thousands of fans for HP and there always will be, there are just different ways of expressing that now.

Other forums that I visit (not HP forums) are pretty lively.

  13. I believe the trio has done all their TV interviews. The premieres went by in the blink of an eye. Everything happened so fast that the build up and the excitement didn't have time to germinate. I really expected a lot more traffic in here since this is the last one but it seems to pretty much just be the old faithfuls here.

It's all over but the crying now. :sob:
