  1. Emma created a youtube channel for Our Shared Shelf, where she posted the full interview of Gloria Steinem.

I watched it yesterday (while correcting my studen't tests haha) that was really interesting. It gives me a new approach on some subjects (porn, why is feminism important among matters such as poverty, war, etc). It definitely gave me some answers and subjects to keep thinking about. I'm glad she did it.

I hope we'll have a similar talk with bell hooks and Alice Walker.

  2. I read the second book 'The color purple', loved it. Really touching, mind opening, sometimes it was shocking to read about racism, rape, etc... made me feel angry at times, but this book is definitely truthful and brings hope.

  3. Love this interview! I actually haven't sat and read an interview of hers in years, I just read quotes now and again.

I love her so much. I'm happy she's dedicated to something and passionate about something.

    I agree with you :)

I'm glad she takes time to find who she is in life, that is SO important. I see so many people (among my friends or other) that don't take the time to really know themselves, and are running after happiness, enclosed in a situation that can't satisfy them of make them happy.

I respect so much that she's not running after money or fame.To me, she's a great inspiration.

  4. This is really interesting, but I guess if was more about just books in general maybe it would be more appealing to everyone. I'm actually not interested of the feminist books much, yet it would be great to give it a try!

She's not seeking fame or likes, she's not a Kardashian haha

She wants to guide people into widening their view on feminism. Now if someone doesn't feel concerned (like you), well, this book club is not for you ;)

She's not here just to make you read, that's not the point of her group.

  5. Exactly!

That is a brilliant idea of hers, I'm actually willing to participate if I can get the book.

That is a perfect way to spread feminism : share ideas, make people think and form an opinion whithout having a real leader influencing the dialogue (I mean, during the talks afetr reading the book, the leading idea being what's in the book).

[That's the exact moment when I regret the most not being bilingual in English, cause I can't properly explain myself as I would do in Franch!]

  6. I also think you may have good intentions, but I'll be a bit negative as well.

Emma has said in the past she would rather people donate to a charity than give her something.

As far as I know Emma is more of an Apple person and wouldn't have much use for a custom top-end PC.

How do you plan on delivering it to her?

    I agree on that.

It is a thoughtful idea, very kind of you to think of that!

However, because of her wealth, any objects she needs she can get it... I believe she'd prefer a donation to a well-chosen charity, or something personal such as the projects we do on EWN.
