  1. But I think the world would be a little more interesting if there were some monsters here ;)

There are. They drive windowless vans.

As a Gnostic, I don't have that hard of a time accepting the existence of the supernatural. That being said, I also tend to view all folklore, mythology and sacred texts as allegories. So.... a little from column A, a little from column B.

  2. That's what really hacks me off about the whole thing. Anyone can claim to know what God's will is but when they start contradicting one another, you really start to wonder if any of them are right? If Jesus had possessed the good sense to stay in his grave he'd likely be spinning in it.

  3. How do you feel towards racists? Have you ever joined in for a bit of 'fun'?

I can proudly say that from what I've seen these last few years, it's improved greatly. Do you think it has throughout the world or just the same or even worse?

Wait, what? A bit of fun?? Putting aside the fact that you appear to have chosen the worst possible way to phrase your question, racism is a now useless vestigial trait of our ancient ancestors. Back in the days when most humans were just small nomadic tribes whose diet consisted of raw meat and the parasites they pulled out of each others' hair, competition for resources was fierce and people learned to dislike and distrust those who were not of their social group. In this day and age the world is poised at the moment where the fecal matter is about to hit the rotary air conditioning blade and we have a snowball's chance in Hell of getting out of this mess unless we put aside our differences and work together to fix this mess we've gotten ourselves into.

The stone age is over. Racism serves no constructive purpose whatsoever. As a side note, I always thought my father was racist until he started making nasty remarks about his race. At that point I realised he was simply a misanthrope.

  4. Great. I just got here and already I'm double posting, but this got my attention:

God laid down the laws of what is right and wrong.

Murder is wrong. Murderers belong in prison.

Therefore, people that go to prison for murder, belong there. Although I do agree that we tend to throw a lot of people in prison for useless things (drug addicts, going to prostitutes, etc.) While I don't agree with drugs or prostitution, I think we should legalize weed and prostitution, because it's ridiculous to throw people in prison over that. Nobody was really hurt.

Weed is a tricky one. I actually know people who have been addicted to it but that's beside the point. Medicinal marijuana in capsule form is hunky dory but smoking it is right out. Namely because you never know what the dealer put in that crap and inhaling any kind of smoke is bad for your lungs. Pretty much all illicit drugs are harmful to the user and possess little to no beneficial qualities that can't be gained with legal, non-toxic substances. Also, addiction (to anything) is completely life destroying. Then again, alcohol and tobacco are both legal so I guess the powers that be either don't care or have no idea what the hell they're doing.

As for prostitution... believe me that a lot of people get hurt over that. It's a black market commodity, which means that it is totally unregulated and as a result, sex trade workers often face horrendous working conditions, violence, etc. Two of my best friends and one of my old girlfriends were prostitutes; they lived lives I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I would recommend taking a look at the works of Victor Malarek, specifically his books The Natashas and The Johns. He unveils a lot of nasty truths about the illicit sex trade industry. I'm not sure why prostitution is still illegal in the U.S. and Canada, since all the arguments against legalization suck. While legalization would likely make the industry safer (due to regulation and the application of labour laws), organized crime isn't likely to easily release its death grip on the trade. Unless of course, it became the de facto method of laundering money, which would once again put a black mark on the world's oldest profession.

The only half decent argument against legalization that I can come up with off the top of my head would be that, logistically speaking, not so much open a can or worms as a can of horrific eldritch abominations from the farthest reaches of the cosmos, but don't get me started on that shit.

  5. I was a Born Again Christian for almost three months before certain... discrepancies between scriptural text and the things I was hearing in church caused me to do a little digging of my own into the history and mythology of the Ibrahamic faiths. Now I'm more or less in the Gnostic camp, since it's the only way I can reconcile any kind of western faith with my own upbringing, experiences, values and knowledge.
