  1. I might be the odd one out, but I'd rather not have another HP book. I love the epilogue and the fact that JKR made it clear for all to see what happens in the trio's future. Marriage, kids, happiness. And in interviews post DH release she even elaborated a bit on their careers. Still she left much open for our interpretation, our imagination. To fill the gap in the seventeen years between the end of the war and the epilogue and the loooong time that comes after the epilogue (just look at the amount of Next Generation fan fics). I am happy with the story she told. I am afraid, with all our expectations and everything we have in our minds for the trio's lives already, an eighth or even ninth HP book would be a letdown. And that would be awful.

What I would like to have is this encyclopedia with all kind of facts. But no new stories for me. However, should she write another HP book, I'll read it of course.

  2. Great, Jon. Now you've made me really hungry.

When I first saw the fanart, I was scared it was really THE KISS. But then I realized it was a manip. A good one at that. Of course the real one will be even better. Maybe not so much the main course, but the cherry on top of the cake. Or the icing, Or the mousse au chocolat after a five-course dinner. ;)

  3. I'm happy to hear that Desplat did the music for DH2 too. Although DH1 and DH2 are counted and considered as two seperate movies, they are one entity. And that should show. We already know that DH2 will be faster and more action-oriented, but there should be some kind of continuity to both of the movies. Do we know how is the director of photography? Did Eduardo Sera do DH2 as well?

As for the music: There just HAS to be a R/Hr theme. There just has to be. On the HBP soundtrack there is a Harry and Hermione song. Of course  Gag. I'm just glad we got at least a Harry and Ginny song too. But for DH2 there just has to be this sweet, light, deep and wonderful Ron and Hermione song.

  4. I was doing this when I saw THE KISS :ohyeah: I was like they just call it THE KISS. I love the fact that they dont title it "Ron and Hermione Kiss" it is just THE KISS. LIKE THIS IS IT...the kiss will lead to many hospitalizations across the world ;) "In world news, the epic kiss of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger took place and many fans were rushed to the hospital to revive them" ;) I would have placed THE KISS in top 5 def...(yes for me too #1 ;))...but to make top 20, that is pretty dang respectable!!! ;)

Ha, ha, you're on a roll. Yes, it's simply THE KISS. No further explanation needed. EVERYONe with the exception of a select few know who is meant anyway. :P

Luciana, I noticed they took moments from the books after I asked that question. :D I was too lazy, or rather my computer was so slow and I lost patience, to go through all 100 moments. Some of them were movie only moments too, but I agree it's pretty amazing THE KISS comes up on 18th already.

I can't see the vid you posted from my country, Luciana.

  5. 100 greatest Harry Potter moments.

    18: THE KISS :yesyes:

    http://www.totalfilm...s#ixzz1MBTDnTJA

I'm gonna check this. But how can they include moments they haven't seen yet? From what we heard from the lucky people who got to see the test-screening, the kiss - oops, sorry, THE KISS ;) - will be really epic. Sounds to me more like a top 3 moment (well, for me personally likely No. 1 of course)

In two months time, I will have seen the movie and THE KISS. :ohyeah:

  6. OMG. LoL. Katherine that was hilarious. Harry's funky dance moves.

And you're all right. The pic with Ron holding Hermione in MM is just sigh-worthy. Is that a word? It isn't? Well, I guess I invented it then. Sigh-worthy. Ron and Hermione are sigh-worthy.

  7. I think Ron looks kind of petrified. Maybe he had just witnessed Fred's death. :( He must have been devastated. Hermione looks like she just let go of Ron and reaches for something. Maybe really her beaded bag.

Is that a scene from the trailer? LoL, these scenes flash by so fast, I only notice most of them via screencaps or these little animations.

Btw, has anyone seen the Royal Wedding in London today? Wasn't Kate beautiful. And that dress was a dream. That's something I could see Hermione wear for her wedding. :D

  8. Hermione, where did you get that pic in you siggy from? The one with the trio and Neville? I've never seen it.

And OMG, have you seen the DH2 trailer. This is going to be epic, bombastic. And they even had a short R/Hr in it (a longer scene with them running in the RoR holding hands) :ohyeah:

  9. Happy Easter my fellow HeRos!!

I so adored how Hermione put her head on Ron's shoulder at Dobby's grave and Ron stroking her hair. That was actually the scene we should have been watching at the end of HBP at Dumbledore's funeral. I'm still miffed they cut that out. Not just Ron comforting Hermione, but the whole DD funeral. Wrong, just wrong, IMO.

Can you imagine? In 3-months time we'll have seen THE KISS. :ohyeah:

I also can't wait to see all that couply behaviour they'll supposedly show in DH2. More glances, more touches. And all of that culminates into THE KISS.

And welcome to the forums, R/Eal love.

  10. What a great breakdown of all the R/Hr scenes in DH1. Thank you so much, you rock, girl. :ohyeah:

I think I'll have to fetch out the manual for the DVD-player of the tv-set, whichever, and look for this zoom in function. LoL

I would like to say some words to H/G. It's really tragic, but movie-wise, this pairing is a catastrophy. I know some people didn't like how the couple was developed in the book either - and I'm not solely talking about H/Hr-ers - I personally did like the H/G romance, even if it doesn't come remotely close to how much I adore R/Hr.

Ginny was more present in the books and I think that helped later when Harry developed feelings for her. In the movies, she was barely to be seen. A couple of blink and you miss it moments, and that was that. I think they mainly dropped the ball in OOTP. We do see a couple of scenes in which Ginny is shown to be somewhat jealous of Cho, but the two most important scenes for H/G have been cut. Twice in the book, it was Ginny who helped Harry in situations when he was depressed or stressed. I.E. it is Ginny, not Ron or Hermione, who Harry confides in that he desperately wants to talk to Sirius. It's also Ginny who can get Harry back to his senses when he fears that he's possessed by Voldemort after he had "seen" the Snake-attack on Arthur. Both scenes that illustrate a deep connection, IMO. But they've been cut and then suddenly in HBP Harry is shown to have the hots for her. And, to add insult to injury, they are not even shown as an official true couple. I mean, in the book, they were together after all. Nothing of that in the movie. Then in DH1 we get her asking him to zip up her dress, a lifeless kiss and nothing after that. I had wished they would have at least shown Harry spotting her dot on the Marauder's Map. But zilch.

Fortunately, we R/Hr shippers get much more. I'm not happy with everything the movies gave us or rather cut, but in general, the romance is done very well. Well enough for Ron and Hermione to earn themselves the title of "movie romance of the year 2010" in this one online poll. And they aren't even an official couple yet. Wonder how many polls R/Hr will rule after THE KISS. :D

  11. Katherine, Jon, Vida, Kristen et al. don't worry. Even after DH2 is out in the theatres, I won't go anywhere. And I know you won't either. We'll still be here discussing the books, the movies and what we think happened with R/Hr after DH2 until JKR finally delivers on that Encyclopedia she has promised us for years. LoL (and even beyond that).

I finally have my DH1 DVD and rewatched it. I'm not as bothered by the dance scene anymore. If anything, it reinforces R/Hr because it clearly shows how miserable both are, especially Hermione. And it clearly shows, while it was a nice distraction for a couple of moments, Hermione was still heartbroken and she clearly chose Ron when turning away from Harry.

I still think the scene was superfluous, unnecessary and OOC. And I'm still bothered by what the WB tried to achieve. They tried to create a "What if" moment. Thing is: They failed. Maybe it was the delivery, I don't know. But the scene didn't feel sexually charged or romantic. Also I didn't think Harry was hitting on Hermione or expecting a kiss at the end or something like that. It just felt like Harry trying to cheer up his best friend for a while.

Nothing could overshadow the R/Hr goodness that's in the movie anyway. OH, the cheek stroke in the café, the piano-scene, the almost hand-holding at Grimmauld Place, the glances, Malfoy Manor and how Ron and Hermione hardly kept their hands off each other after that scene. :)

Can't wait for July. KISS you may come.

  12. I'm absolutely thrilled by what I hear about THE KISS so far. Count me in on those who will die with happiness. Unfortunately, I think resuscitation will be too late for me. I'll be gone to R/Hr heaven. :ohyeah:

I am a bit vary about possible comparisons between the FAKE LocketHarry/LocketHermione kiss and the REAL Ron-and-Hermione-love-each-other-and-finally-admit-it kiss. But I like what Dylan Spartz said. Definitely more energetic and passionate. H/HR was to creep Ron - and us - out. R/Hr is to ... well... "kill" us by the sound of it. ;)

I am a bit disappointed right now though. I was sure I'd find my DH1 DVD in the mail-box today and was mentally preparing for an evening with Harry, Ron and Hermione. But zilch. Will have to wait for Mondy. *sigh*

  13. Thank you for posting Amanda, it's such a cute scene!

In all honesty, I don't mind at all that it was cut from the movie. As cute as it is, it just doesn't seem very canon R/Hr to me and although it's lovely to see them hanging out without Harry, I'm glad they focused on more canon moments. If that makes sense.

OMG, isn't that the sweetest scene ever???? I absolutely adore the Piano scene, but this has got some tension to it, if you know what I mean. I agree that it does look very natural, a bit like Rupert and Emma were being filmed skipping stones in between takes (I don't ship R/E though LoL) . While it's not a canon scene, I totally can imagine Ron and Hermione acting like that without Harry. The thing is, we don't really ever get to see them without Harry, but we know that they are spending time together alone. So they must talk about stuff we're not privy to, and they must do things like playing cards or wizarding chess (that's actually canon). And since they fell in love with each other, I guess not everything they talked about or did was related to Harry. :) But I agree that it was likely better that this scene has been cut. Ron was shown to get more and more moody and jealous and such a scene would have totally contradicted those feelings and in the end audiences wouldn't have really understood why Ron left. It potentially would have made him look really bad.

OT: Big thanks to dookdookdook who helped me log back in. :3m_sie: I had forgotten my username (which isn't identical with my screenname)

  14. Great read. Again, Luciana has found a gem.

However, I have to disagree with this a couple of points:

He may start out less than worthy, but he grows to deserve her.

I take offense in the notion that Ron, at which point ever, wasn't worthy. He was always worthy. Of Hermione, of everything and everyone. All of them, Harry, Ron and Hermione were always worthy of each other's friendship and love. Yes, they have flaws and they needed to mature and grow up. But being immature and inexperienced doesn't make someone unworthy. It just makes someone unready. So, Ron had to become ready for a mature and committed longtime relationship (as did Hermione) and that's why it took them so long to finally get together. And that's what JKR, IMO, meant when she said in an interview after the release of HBP (the book) that Ron "had to make himself worthy of Hermione". I never thought she meant to imply that Ron wasn't always worthy, just that he doubted he was. He had to overcome the feeling he wasn't worthy and realise that indeed he was and had always been.

Hermione takes one look at Ron and dismisses him as useless. After all, he messes up a simple spell, something she would never do. She is far more impressed with Harry.
Her impression with Harry was more academic than anything else at the beginning. Only when she later gets to know him better, she starts to care for him as just Harry. Not the famous Harry Potter from the books, but just Harry, one of her best friends. Her impression with Ron migh not have been awe about his magical skills, but by his personality. I think Hermione was kind of fascinated with Ron right from the start.

The next is a line I can fully subscribe to:

Ron, on the other hand, only reluctantly ventures out of his safety zone. Although his terror at first glance lowers our opinion of him, he rises to every occasion and never fails his friends. This is far more impressive than a person whose single-minded focus on a goal allows them to ignore their fears.

We've always said, Ron is an ordinary guy who does extraordinary things. He does things inspite of being afraid. He does it anyway. That, to me, is true heroism. Not only in the romantic sense. :ohyeah::king:

  15. Would any of you have liked if JKR had chosen to get Ron and Hermione together in HBP? I'm kind of mixed on this, but I tend to lean towards what I know, rather than what I don't know, just because it was awesome the way it did all come together.

On the plus side of getting them together earlier, we could have had a lot more Ron/Hermione specific moments... but would that have taken away from Harry's story, which was ofc reaching such a pivitol phase by that point in the series? I'm inclined to believe that a Silver Doe scene would have been tougher to legitimately pull off if they got together in HBP. After all, Ron really wouldn't have had any reasons to doubt Hermione's feelings for him at that point, unless JKR just made him out to be a totally possesive and jealous git (which we know she never would have done).

The other great part about getting them together in DH was keeping up the tension between the two. She'd have been giving up a valuable plot device to hold in her readers... not that she really risked anything as far as readership at that point any longer. The ONE thing I do feel like I miss out on a little, being such a big R/Hr shipper, is the ability to see how they interact as an official couple. While I imagine it is much in the way they interacted earlier, I always hope that it possesses a greater deal of understanding with less heated arguments. I tend to believe that the arguments would have subsided considerably once they got together, simply because the tension of their unrequitted feelings for one another was boiling under the surface of many of their most epic rows.

Oh, I love the videos btw cbmac, thanks for posting them!!! Good thing the R/Hr shipper community is such a talented bunch!!!

I remember the discussions on the Ron/Hermione thread on another forum prior to the release of DH. Most of us posters on that thread - me included - thought JKR would get Ron and Hermione together at the beginning of DH and we would get to see them as an actual couple throughout the book. A bit like "get it out of the way and concentrate on the main story". I did like how it played out, but I still think she dragged the whole R/Hr resolution out a bit too long. Seeing how close they were at the end of HBP, it kind of made no sense for them to dance around each other until the end of the book. I understand that JKR felt Ron wasn't ready yet because he still had to become a man by destroying his demons via the Horcrux. But I still think the Silver Doe sequence could have worked. Just a bit dfferently. Ron could have been sent on an errand - to find food or gather information about what happens in the wizarding world - and not show up at their assigned meeting point because he had run into a group of snatchers. Harry and Hermione, not knowing what happened to Ron, continued with their journey, desperate and fearful about whether Ron was still alive or not. Basically the same feelings minus the being pissed off at Ron part. Ron still could have found his way back with the help of the deluminator, saved Harry from the pond, retrieved the sword and destroyed the Horcrux. Just instead of a kissing FakeHarry/FakeHermione we could have seen visions of them being dead or severely injured.

And of course we could still have had the "lets kiss a last time before we might die during the battle" thing in the CoS. LoL

There would have been still enough tension but we also would have been able to get a glimpse, a real glimpse, into how Ron and Hermione are as a couple. But, as I said, I am okay with the way it actually was written. It's beautiful.

  16. Ok apparently the buzz on youtube is that R/Hr "Ball of Light" is in the top 100 or top 50 or top 20 of vids for the week, etc in different countries... Have also been seeing people's comments saying that Ball of Light was the best and how cute R/Hr are as couple- could be this is seriously the start of promoting R/Hr BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;):ohyeah:

That's amazing. :ohyeah: Yes, our couple is bewitching (pun intended). I am looking forward to how the reception of R/Hr will be once the promotion really starts, and lets not forget once THE KISS will be played over and over and over again. I guess a clip of that on YT (AFTER the movie has been released in the theaters please!!!!) would be on top in no time. :king:

  17. Happy Birthday, Ron!!!!! Unbelievable, we've followed you through your hardships during childhood and the teenage years and now you're 31!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ohyeah:

That vid played at the Oscars is amazing. What a great recognition. In what context was it presented?

  18. Jon, I agree with your assessment on Ron and Hermione in OotP. I think I said something similar about R/Hr in OotP in one of my previous posts a couple of pages back. Although on the surface we don't seem to have big R/Hr moments like the Yule Brawl in GoF for example, I think a lot happens in the development of their relationship.

I'd appreciate if anyone wants to post a larger size of it, to do it under spoiler tags.

I'm glad that I couldn't see much from that little image and I'm not really sure I want to be spoilt of that scene.

    Thanks!

This! I too don't want to be spoiled about the kiss. Or at least I would like to have the chance to decide if I want to be spoiled and not have pics or descriptions jump out at me when I come here. I know no harm was meant by the posters posting the pic and fortunately nothing really was discernible on it. But for the future, now that we near the release of the movie, maybe we could put pics, vids or descriptions/spoilers about THE KISS under spoiler tags? Please? :)
  19. The magazines HAVE to JUST have Ron/Hermione action this year-even a 4 person (H/G, R/Hr) I would take too. But most def JUST R/HR!!!!!!!! ;)

Of course they have to!!!! R/Hr has won pretty much every poll for the last couple of years, just the end of last year they were elected most romantic onscreen couple in this one online poll, and they aren't even officially an onscreen couple yet!! So the magazines should finally see the light and stop thinking it's all about the hero Harry and his female best friend (ever so often unfairly shunting the other best friend, Ron, who is part of the trio too, aside). They have to pay tribute to the cutest (well to me) literary and onscreen couple: Ron and Hermione. :king:

  20. Guys, I guess most of you have seen the latest outtakes from the EW 2009 photoshoot with Rupert and Emma on the R/E thread. But since not every HeRo is an R/E shipper too, here is a link to the pics ICM gallery

I don't ship R/E, but I love seeing pics like those, because I like to think of them as Ron and Hermione posing for their engagement photos. :ohyeah:

  21. Congrats, Jon. :king: I didn't even know there was such a vote going on, but then again, how could I have chosen between all my R/Hr friends on here? Nonetheless, well deserved, Jon.

I agree with all of you on the relatability of the characters. They can do magic, but aside from that, they have the same problems, feelings, wishes, faults, virtues, values or dreams as we all have. And the relationships they have with family, friends, partners, are of the same kind as the relationships we have. That's why we relate. To some characters more than others. I personally always saw familiar things in all three, Harry, Ron and Hermione. But I think I can relate to Ron the most. I know all of his insecurites, the feeling of not being good enough, not matching up to my own expectations. Like Ron, I grew out of (most of ;) ) them, but reading about all of that, I recognized and remembered a lot.

Jon, I too always saw Ron with Hermione. And vice versa. I am one of the people who doubts Hermione ever really had a relationship with Krum. I think they had a friendship. I think Krum wanted more, but Hermione - while being curious and flattered - was hesitant, because I think she already was aware of her feelings for Ron. I even doubt that snogging Ginny was talking about really happened. She might have assumed it happened because of all the rumours surrounding Hermione and Krum during the Triwizard Tournament. Hermione might have kissed Krum once, if only out of curiosity, but I doubt there was constant full-on snogging going on. Just my take on it.

  22. I was just reading about Ron's jealousy, wondering what Hermione sees in Viktor Krumb as she finished writing a long letter to him in the Gryffindor commom room. It's funny to me that when Ron recieves Hermione's attention, like when she kisses his cheek before his first Quidditch match, he is always a bit surprised, but when ever she gives attention to someone else, that's when Ron really takes notice and his jealousy flairs up. He definitely is somewhat possesive of her and certainly craves her attention. While I know it isn't the healthiest expression of his affections... I still find Ron's jealousy to be endearing in a way, and so typical of the adolescent mind set.

I think Ron, as the sixth boy in the family, kind of got overlooked too many a time in the family. Not purposefully or maliciously, he was loved and well cared for. But he never got the attention Bill as the first born got for example. Or the twins as ... well ... the twins, or Ginny as the youngest and only girl. Therefore, Ron naturally was craving attention and recognition, as we could see in the MIrror of Erised. Of course when it comes to the object of your affection, you want to be noticed, just that Hermione tended to play her cards close to her chest and she didn't allow herself too often to show her feelings for Ron. Plus, she was often distracted by Harry's latest life-threatening adventure. So, when she showed Ron attention and affection he was caught off-guard, because he didn't really expect it. However, when Herminoe showed attention to other boys, he thought it normal. And Ron was a very insecure person and I imagine jealousy, which is a normal sentiment we've all felt once in a while, comes out stronger in insecure people. So, I wouldn't say it's unhealthy, but just a normal feeling exacerbated in Ron by his insecurity. And I find it endearing too.

BTW Sabine, I absolutely love your signature! It made me smile and laugh out loud.

Thanks, Jon. There are so many amazing signatures on here and I was thinking about what kind of signature to use for myself. Then I thought, since we anticipate THE KISS so much and since we've labelled 2011 The Year of THE KISS - thanks to Luciana - that a pic of the already legendary R/Hr kiss is the only fitting signature for me. :)

I think he went a little too far when he interrupted THE KISS though. I would have said 'ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!' instead, no matter if the whole castle was falling down around them!

Oh yes. Why did he have to interrupt THE KISS? Couldn't he just give them, idk, a couple of hours more? LoL But then again, I guess them being in the midst of a huge battle was kind of more pressing. But only slightly. ;)

As for the MM moments, can we just say if they add this to the movie between R/Hr I will get down on my hands and knees to Yates and Kloves and kiss their feet LOL...

There is no way in the world I will ever kiss Mr Kloves' feet. B)
  23. GALADRIEL!!!! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO SAY THAT LAST BIT!!!!

Because I'm a party pooper. LoL. No, seriously, I just want to keep my expectations as low as possible. Which is hard to do anyway what with THE KISS just around the corner. This scene wasn't part of the book - Ron and Hermione talking about the Locket Horcrux, I mean - so it's not very likely it will be added. But I would love to see it. Basically, I would have loved to read about it in the book. I always wondered if, when and how the two talked about the time when Ron left, the effect the locket had on him, what he saw in the Locket-vision and what Hermione endured in MM and how hearing Ron screaming for her kept her sane and alive. Sigh.
