  1. I've thought about it more, and a more realistic added seen I would like to see involves the epilogue. I guess it's more how the screenwriter and director adapt/portray it onscreen than adding a scene that wasn't in the book. I just want Ron and Hermione to be an affectionate married couple - like as the train departs, they're holding hands or have their arms around each other as they wave goodbye to their kids. (To be honest, when I saw leaked photos of the characters aged for the epilogue, while I did think they were aged too much, when I saw the wedding ring on Ron/Rupert's finger, it made me smile).

I would defintiely love to see them portrayed as a thorougly happy loving married couple that is still touchy-feely in the epilogue. Scratch that. I NEED to see them as a thoroughly happy loving married couple that is still touchy-feely. :) As for an added scene, I kind of hope Ron and Hermione get to talk about what Ron experienced with the locket-horcrux, but I'm not really banking on it.

Of course, if they were to do it animated (I believe Spielberg thought about an animated version), I wouldn't have a problem with it. I guess it's because Daniel, Rupert, and Emma are THE only Harry, Ron, and Hermione for me.

This. Dan, Rupert and Emma are the trio onscreen (I do envision the characters slightly differently while reading, though) and I think I would have a hard time seeing other actors playing them, even in 20 years time or so. An animated version would be different. Maybe as a tv series with every book covereing multiple episodes. Thus, they will be able to inlcude as much as possible from the books. We might get the SPEW subplot and other stuff that has been cut from the movies.

PS Not sure how you can reply to multiple quotes so I just copied and pasted. The first quote is cbmac12 and the second vida.

You can reply to multiple quotes by clicking on the "Multiple Quote" button (right next to the "Quote" button) of every post you want to reply to.

 Luciana, that is hilarious ROFL!

And as you said, so true too. Don't mess with woman and her man! Hermione letting out her inner *itch there... and no, I don't mean witch! :o

I can't see the pic. Is it possible to repost it or so. :)
  2. Is anyone else just psysched about seeing PROTECTIVE Ron of his girl ;)

I am definitely. :D Ron has always been a very protective person when it came to his family and friends and especially Hermione of course. They did show a bit of that in the movies too, i.e. Ron defending Harry from Seamus in OotP. I am still annoyed beyond words that they changed the DADA class scene in PoA when Ron defended Hermione from Snape's insults in the book but they made him agree in the movie. I guess that scene goes down as my least favourite of the movies, yes even less than the dance in DH1 or the Shrieking Shack in PoA when they gave Ron's line to Hermione, or the final scene in HBP.
  3. For you, cbmac! :)

This is such a wonderful pic. I wonder if this is after... you know ... Fred dies. Ron certainly looks not phased at all by the Horror Hermione (and on the trio pic Harry too) seem to witness. He might be preoccupied with grief? Poor thing. :(

I just had to LoL and squee at this. :D

  5. As much as I like Dan, Rupert and Emma playing the main characters, I sometimes wonder what would have happened if WB waited for all the books to be completed before starting to shoot the movies.

Would they have been closer to the original? Would we have had a more 'canon' R/Hr relationship?

    I guess we'll never know...

I think the movies would be closer to the books. And the movies would be more coherent and consistent. No contradictions, no plotholes. Case in point: in DH1 Dobby enthusiastically greets his Mr Wheezy, says it's nice to see him again. Well, unfortunately Ron and Dobby never met in the movies before. So when and where did they meet? I guess something like that wouldn't have happened had the movie makers known all the movies. Also, the movie makers would have a much better understanding of which parts to keep and which parts to cut. But then we wouldn't have had the pleasure to see Dan, Rupert and Emma as our fave trio and that is downright unacceptable. :)

I also feel like OOTP is the first time where we really see Ron starting to mature a little bit, where as in the past Ron was always willing to defend Hermione against insults and show his jealousy when she took an interest in other boys, this is where Ron finally seems to begin complimenting Hermione more often, either to her directly or to Harry. It seem Ron is growing and appreciating Hermione on a new level, although his maturity still has a long way to go at this point in the series. So any thought, opinions etc... on how others view OOTP are greatly appreciated. Thanks! :king:

I absolutely agree, Jon. On first sight, there doesn't seem to happen all that much in OotP with regards to R/Hr. But I always found that OotP presented a milestone in the development of their relationship. For exact the same reasons you already mentioned. Ron and Hermione have always worked together very good to help Harry, but in OotP this is brought to another level. They are much more on the same side. In earlier books, it was often Harry and his buddy Ron against Hermione the voice of reason. In OotP, Ron more and more takes Hermione's side. Like for example, when Hermione suggests that Harry teaches them DADA, Harry finds that idea ridiculous and looks for Ron for confirmation. Ron however supports Hermione's idea and that's when Harry gives it a second thought. Hermione also begins to rely on Ron's opinions more and more. Harry even once thinks Ron and Hermione behave like Mr and Mrs Weasley (meaning Arthur and Molly, but how clairvoiant you were Harry :D )
  6. Oh yes, there is a hug in the book too, just not where the movie one exists. Yes. :)

I'm not sure if it was due to HP being a 'children' book or what, but I wasn't really expecting romance, but I really didn't read much into things when it happened.

Or maybe because, up to that point, I was only absorbed in Harry's journey.

I started being a R/Hr shipper only after reading the 4th book, as it was the first time Hermione expressed so clearly that she liked Ron back.

Until that point, Ron had been the obvious one, but as far as Hermione was concerned, I didn't know where she stood.

So yeah, GoF was the turning point for me. Now R/Hr were both obvious and started shipping them. :)

When I first started reading the books in late 2005, after HBP had been released, I already knew it was going to be a seven part book series and that each book encompassed one year in the trio's lives. So, they would be 17/18 at the end. And from a co-worker, who was a huge HP-fan, I had heard some talk about Harry having his first kiss. So when I started reading, I knew there would be some kind of romance sometime later in the series. I didn't specifically look out for clues though, R/Hr just was obvious to me. :) I wouldn't even say I shipped back then. I knew they were going to happen and I loved their dynamic and the prospect of a developing romantic relationship, but that was all. I guess I only started shipping when I joinded online fandom and became aware of the Shipping wars. Really the existense of H/Hr - no offense, honestly- baffled me. I can truthfully say it never crossed my mind as an option. Maybe I'm just single-minded and unimaginative though. LoL Anyway, the Shipping wars should have been over by that point in time since it was after HBP, but they were still going strong and I was drawn into it. Defending my ship and defending my favourite character so much, has been what made me a shipper.
  7. The hug only exists in the movie version.

No, there is a hug in the PoA book too. It's just in another scene. It's when Ron offers Hermione to help her with the Buckbeak case appeal (she had just word from Hagrid that Buckbeak had been sentenced to death). Hermione breaks down into his arms and apologizes for Scabbers. It's the resolution of their Crookshanks/Scabbers fight. One of my absolute favourite scenes in the books. In the movie, they replaced that with the hug after Buckbeak's "execution".

I told this multiple times already, but I'll gladly repeat: I knew it was going to be Ron and Hermione for sure when reading CoS. It was something about how JKR highlighted Ron's reaction to Hermione's petrification and her subsequent recovery. Ron reacted stronger than anyone else. :D

I know. I didn't read the books, except the seventh so.. But at that time, I wasn't a R/Hr shipper so it was very interesting for me to see. I think it was the beginning of my love for them :)

Oh, Luciana!!! I have to implore you to read the books. All of them. Please do! You like Harry, Ron and Hermione and their friendship? You love R/Hr? Read the books, as entertaining as the movies may be, the books will be an eye opener for you.
  8. Jon, I think your assessment on how the movie audience will react to THE KISS is spot on. I can totally imagine an outburst of wolf-whistles, awwws and applause (maybe even standing ovations? ;) )

I will smile, swoon and melt and search for the remote control to rewind and play that scene over and over again and then it'll hit me that I'm in the movie theater and that I will have to wait until November / December when the DVD comes out and I can watch the scene over and over again.

DH1 DVD comes out in Germany only at the end of April. That's still an eternity to go.

  9. She was clinging to him like dear life... and so was he!

If anyone had ever any doubts about where Hermione feels safe the most, about who is her personal Knight in Shining Armour, this scene brings home the point. At her most weak and vulnerable there was only one pair of arms she could find safety, solace and comfort in: Ron's .

Hope in part 2 we get Hermione to tell Ron that it was actually his 'screams' who got her through the torture... I'm not sure though, as he wasn't actually screaming in the movie, but something along those lines would be great!

I'm still a bit disappointed we didn't get the despearate screams from Ron in the movie, but who knows? Maybe it just wouldn't have worked. Ron still was Hermione's life-saver, charging forward to disarm Bellatrix. "Like Hell". But I would love love love if Hermione could talk about how Ron saved her and made everything better afterwards in the second movie. Yes, something like what Kristen suggested.
  10. I can't believe I missed Jon's b-day. Happy belated Birthday, Jon! :ohyeah:

OMG, THAT scene is so wonderful. Thanks for posting it, Luciana.

And Vida, I agree it was a very pivotal point for Ron to finally show his understanding. That's what I loved about the scenario, as I said. But I am not (yet ;) ) as bothered about them changing this scenario for the movie as I normally would be, being the canon purist I am. I guess I'll have to reserve judgement about how the movie scene works untl I see it. 6 months and 4 days!!!! :D

    Ron and Hermione are :king:

  11. Back to the Sanatorium I am. ;)

Isn't the source for the CoS-KISS spoiler the same as the one for the R/Hr scene alone at Shell Cottage which we had a couple of weeks back? I took that back then with a grain of salt as I would take this spoiler ... had I read it.

Generally, I really don't mind spoilers, but I feel like I know too much already about the MOVIE-KISS of the Century (let me exaggerate a bit, please). I'm afraid I will get spoiled too much. I really would be devastated if for some reason I got to see THE KISS before I sit in the theater watching the actual movie. And I will restrain myself and not read this one. Lest I love it so much and in the end its not legit and I'll be disappointed.

As for cutting SPEW: I agree that including it would have been a great way to emphasize what kind of wonderful person Hermione is and it would have tied in with R/Hr.

But regarding SPEW as incentive for the kiss, I was always a bit torn to be honest. Already when I read the scene, part of me wondered if it wouldn't have been better had Hermione just jumped Ron because he was .... well... Ron. The man she loved and desired. The man she wanted to be with for some time now. It read a bit like JKR wanted to imply he was only worthy of her kiss now he finally understood and shared her concern for the House-Elves. A bit like Hermione kissed him because of the House-Elves and not because of himself. If that makes any sense. Of course Ron's comment was another proof of how he had matured and grown-up. That's what I liked about it.

According to what I've read on another forum it seems official that we'll get the first trailer for DH2 on January, 24. :ohyeah:

  12. I know what ya mean galadriel, it is funny because sometimes I feel like I am just in it for the R/Hr love story (that is what R/E bring to the party-that freakin awesome chemistry/romance, ESPECIALLY in DH) but I love Harry too and everything he does do for the wizarding world and muggle world-ya know that whole saving the world thing LOL :) But yeah the "Lights will guide you home" vid makes me teary eyed too-the way that we watch R/Hr love develop through the 7 years. Just so beautiful....but here is to THE YEAR OF THE KISS....AND I say we start a countdown NOW ;)

Just out of curiostiy, might be I misunderstood. But do you ship R/Hr because of R/E? I don't ship RL couples.

I was R/Hr even before I watched the first movie. Ron was my favourite character right from the beginning, although I loved all of the trio of course. I found the R/Hr dynamic endearing but it wasn't before I read CoS that I thought something could develop between them. :D

  13. What a great way to start THE YEAR OF THE KISS with that beautiful video. Equally as good as the "Lights will guide you" one that was linked to a couple of pages back. I just rewatched both and really got a bit teary eyed. *sigh* I know R/Hr is just a sub-plot and I love the whole story. I love all of the trio and Harry is so dear to me as well as Ron and Hermione. But this love story between Harry's two faithful friends is such a gem. In Literature as well as in movie history.

  14. Luciana, you're brilliant. :king:

2011: THE YEAR OF THE KISS

A very Happy New (Ron and Hermione) Year to All. What we've been waiting for since at least July 2007 (or maybe even since the begining of the HP movie history) will come to pass. Finally!!!!

Yes, if R/Hr already managed to outdo Bella/Edward and all the others as Movie romance of 2010 even if they're not together yet and haven't kissed yet, then there will be nothing to stop them becoming cutest, best, most romantic romance in 2011 (or even movie history. But I am biased of course).

Hope you all enjoy New Year's Eve and have the chance to party with family and friends.

  15. LOL!!!!!! You are so not a loser-you have seen it and that is all that matters ;)

UGH How could I have forgotten the cheek stroking scene!!!!!HANGS HEAD IN SHAME!!! :sob: LOL That scene made me go all weak and melt.

It makes me weak and melt each time I think about it. How Hermione could focus on performing the Obliviate spell after that is beyond me. LoL Just goes to show how awesome our girl is, I guess. That's one of the reasons Ron loves her so much.

Yeah when you look at R/Hr (when I really should have been lookin at what Dobby was doing LOL) but hey R/E are distracting...Ron is holding on so tightly to Hermione and he leans his head against her cheek in the most tender way.

Awwwwwww. I do remember seeing Hermione holding on to Ron's shirt as if her life depended on it (which it sort of kind of did, I guess). Accio DVD (including Stone-throwing scene!!!)

    7 months-we can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
These 7 months will fly by so fast. We will fill the time with speculation, discussion, obsession and general R/Hr celebration. I heard on another forum that we might get the first DH2 trailer in January which is just around the corner. So, lets prepare to rejoice. :ohyeah:

And when it's all over, we will have a huge Katzenjammer because we won't be able to speculate, look forward to, obsess over an new HP movie with new R/Hr scenes. It's the last one and then all will be done. But I'm sure if we stick together, we'll manage. :D

  16. Kristen, I so agree with that list. Maybe not in that exact order, but generally you nailed it all. Excpet you forgot one of my faves, which is the cheek stroking in the café. *swoons*

And I didn't notice so many of the details. Really, Ron put his cheek against Hermione's head at Malfoy Manor? I need to see the movie again, but RL was so busy and exhausting lately. I only managed to see the movie in the theater once. I'm a loser, I know *hangs head in shame* Anyway, not too long and we'll have the DVD and I will get to see the R/Hr goodness over and over and over and over again. :D

    [quot name=Luciana' timestamp='1293647488' post='35387]

I thin Part 2 will be the death of us!!! :o Only seven months, oh my God!!!!!

You mean I have to prepare for my funeral in 7 months? :lostit:

  17. Galadriel, I am telling Santa to put ya on his naughty list next year for the comment about the R/Hr scene being replaced w. H/Hr scene!!! ;) THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS!!! ;)

Yes, I'm a bad bad girl *hangs head in shame* LOL. No, really. I am looking forward to see the stone throwing scene so much that I'm afraid it will end in a huge disappointment and not be included on the DVD at all. I recall there was a report on a R/Hr scene they apparently shot for OotP. It was in the MoM and it actually showed Ron saving Hermione from a DE. She was cast into the air by a DE's spell or something and then Ron caught her in his arms. *swoon*. We were obsessing over this scene in the old forum back then, but in the end it got cut from the movie and never made any DVD edition. I guess the whole material just ended on the cutting room floor. :( That would have been such an adorable scene. It's just unfair how many R/Hr scenes got cut or didn't even make the script in the first place. Scenes I was looking forward to see onscreen from the time I first read them onpage. I.e. Hermione kissing Ron good-luck before his first Quidditch match. Ron comforting Hermione on DD's funeral. That scene aside, it's still a shame we never got a proper funeral for DD in the HBP movie.

Fortunately, we got a couple of scenes that were added, especially in PoA. The hand-grab during Hagrid's lesson. The cute conversation outside of the Shrieking Shack. Hermione tending to Ron's injured knee. All the flirting in OotP. That was swoon-worthy too. :D

With a couple of minor grapes, R/Hr was spot on in DH1. Many, many things right from the book were included and some additional things like the wonderful Piano scene or Ron caressing Hermione's cheek in the Café after the DE attack. The thought of that touch alone still makes my knees go weak. I am such a sap.

  18. Roni, those banners are great. :king:

Yes had a wonderful time w. family! Put on 20 pounds in 2 days!

Make that 30 pounds for me and we haven't even seen the end yet. LoL. Here in Germany, we celebrate the 26th of December as the second Christmas day, an official holiday, too (I think it's Boxing Day in the UK?)

So, we'll have a big meal for lunch. Yumm.

LOL...anyway that banner of R/Hr-the lake scene-will be on deleted scenes for DVD!!!! That pic of R/Hr w/ her arms around him-that was really R/E BTS ;) NICE touch!! LOL
I kind of understand why they decided to not include the stone-throwing scene in the movie. It would have contradicted Ron's growing suspicions and jealousy about H/Hr in some way. Why worry about them if he'd just had this tender and flirty scene with Hermione? Hence they cut it. I now hope we're really going to see it on the DVD. Yates said it will be a deleted scene in an interview, but who knows? They might change their minds to make place and include another H/Hr scene.
  19. I still think that this kiss will not surpass the h/ hr one, if u look at what they did with h/g i'm not expecting much

    1. There was no such thing as a H/Hr kiss. Harry and Hermione never kissed, neither in the books nor in the movies. Period.

    2. The Fake Horcrux-locket kiss was in no way romantic or hot or passionate. Two ghostly figures eating faces? That's certainly not romantic or passionate in my book. The Fake Horcrux-locket kiss, showing two ghostly figures, which were supposed to look like Harry and Hermione served its purpose of being horrible and disgusting. Evoking a reaction from Harry "It's lying!!" and Ron barges forward to destroy the locket.

    3. The R/Hr kiss will be the one between two characters who deeply love each other and have found each other to spend the rest of their lives together. It will be an expression of these deep and true feelings that have been building for years. It will be sweet and tender and swoon-worthy. And to me it will be the most precious kiss I've ever seen onscreen.

cbmac, did I miss your b-day? I feel bad. There was so much going on at work, I hardly had the time to properly follow anything going on in this forum. So here is my very best wishes for your Birthday. Have a great new year of your life. I know it will be, you'll get to see the R/Hr kiss. ;)

And Happy Holidays to everyone. We're having the first White Christmas here in Germany for like 15 years or so.

  20. Ok, I have to say that I agree with you, that bashing Ron (and Ginny) is very annoying and it's stupid to use that against a canon ship. Although the part that I highlighted irked me a bit. I'm sure you didn't mean ALL H/Hr shippers, because I've met most that never bash Ron, we understand the importance of Ron in the trio. And the fact that just because some people bash Ron doesn't mean we don't have a "strong and found belief" in the couple. If I could, besides the one point you mentioned, make an entire 10 page essay on how H/Hr can and DO work.

Of course I didn't mean to generalize. I'm sorry if it came across that way, should have used some kind of disclaimer like "some" or so. However, if you read that sentence in its context I think (hope) it's clear it was a reply to the linked blog and people who argue likewise, not to ALL H/Hr shippers. I have the impression that shippers, whatever they ship, who need to denigrade other characters or relationships to argue for their ship, must not be very secure in their own ship in the first place.

I am sure you could provide a lot of arguments on why H/Hr work, just as I can do the same for R/Hr, but I have to leave that to my fellow HeRos here, since I "unfortunately" ;) agreed to play devil's advocate and find arguments for H/Hr.

  21. We know the movies have been (free) adaptations of the books for a while now, so if they are going to make alterations about how the characters call each other, I'd rather see these moments happening with the canon couple.

Otherwise we would have to start complaining about the added R/Hr moments which are non-existent in the book as well.

I'd rather they keep the story as close to the books as possible, but I understand that is quite far-fetched thinking imo, so the name alterations by themselves are not an issue for me.

The name alterations aren't an issue for me either. At least not a huge one, although I felt at times Hermione calling Ron "Ronald" sounded a bit condescending. I'm also a canon-purist and just couldn't resist pointing out that Hermione in the books always calls Ron "Ron", except this one time. :)

    They are quite unique.

The way they bicker though have sometimes made me compare them with Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler in 'Gone With The Wind'.

Lizzie Bennet and Mr Darcy, Beatrice and Benedict, Katherine and Petruccio .... the list of classical bickering couples is impressive and Ron and Hermione belong on that list. They already are a classic literary couple too, IMO.

  22. Hermione called Ron Ronald in PoA, GoF, HBP, OOTP... as for Mione I cant recall any times he has called her Mione but I could be wrong!!!

In the movies. NOT in the books. Like jmc said, in the books, Hermione calls him "Ronald" only once and that's when she even uses his full name "Ronald Bilius Weasley" when he returns in DH. So basically, this excessive use of "Ronald" is a movie invention. "Mione" is fan-fiction.

galadriel, I know what ya mean about the Fred scene (Emma said she had to keep going w. the scene but wanted to stop to tell Rupert how amazing he was and realized that they were still doing the scene awww)...DH 2 will be VERY coupley-- CANT WAIT-to see Ron taking care of Hermione, protecting her, loving her, holding her, her holding onto him, her loving him...is it July yet? LOL

I will need heaps of tissues in DH2 I guess. Tears of sadness for our fallen heroes and tears of happiness for all the wonderful, lovely R/Hr bits.

  23. Awesome post galadriel!!! :)

    Thanks.

As for the playing devil's davocate- I am going to decline and say no- there is no point. There was never H/Hr, period.

    Fair point. :)

What do I look forward to the most in DH2? I am so thrilled that Rupert said something like R/Hr will be very coupley touchy in DH2 and I'm certainly looking forward to all of that. My expectations for THE KISS are so high that I'm starting to fear that I will be disappointed somehow. The WB just has a history of muckng up my favourite scenes, so idk. But I know there will be a scene when Hermione consoles Ron - likely after Fred's death. As horrible as the fact of Fred dying is and as sad as that scene will be, I am looking forward to that. It will show the deep caring bond the two have.

  24. Besides, an argument won't really be such if both R/Hr shippers and H/Hr shippers defend the same ship. And it definitely looks like so at the moment...

I hope many of us HeRo people join that thread and argue for R/Hr. Just that a few of us think it interesting to try and see the H/Hr side. As I said in one of my posts there, no arguing AGAINST R/Hr (which I would never, never ever do), but trying to find arguments for H/Hr. Arguments that do NOT include denigrading Ron or Ginny. There is also one H/Hr s shipper there who agreed to play "devil's advocate" in favour of R/Hr and she said some pretty accurate things about our beloved couple.

Seriously THAT WAS NOT HARRY AND HERMIONE!!!!!!!!! WHAT KISS? That was Riddle!!!! Yall are freakin delusional!!!

Too true. But what can we do? People are just like they are. I don't mind if some like that "kiss" and it's not my responsibility if some don't understand what the whole scene was about. And it's just MTV after all. I mean, honestly, it's just MTV. Maybe it's because I'm ancient, but I won't get riled up over something like that. Of course I do think that the Riddle-kiss has no place there at all and maybe it won't be nominated in the first place. But if it is. it just proves how meaningless that whole stuff is. It's not like the Oscars or BAFTAs or other prestigious movie awards, right? That doesn't mean I won't be happy if R/Hr wins next year, but in the great scheme of things the only thing that counts is that we get to see THE KISS next year. And it will be great and wonderful and lovely and everything. :D

Ok I have kept my tongue quiet for a bit...but I have to say this... for anyone who is not a R/Hr shipper to come here and want things for H/Hr to happen doesnt belong here. If this is how crazy the shipper wars were at the start, then I am very happy that I was not part of them from the beginning. RON/HERMIONE RULES!!!!! :)

I have been a part of the shipper wars at its very end and believe me, it was worse. Much worse. And everyone who's not been a participant can be glad. The horrible things said about our ship and specifically Ron ... still gives me nightmares. So yeah, if someone doesn't have anything good to say about R/Hr, they should please just stick to the H/Hr thread.

But yeah, they were great in DH! One of my fav parts is when Ron touched Hermione's face after they Obliviated the Death Eaters in the cafe. I dunno, just the simple touch, no words... I loved that moment. :)

Oh, God. I almost fainted when I saw that! My jaw literally dropped. I had never expected to see such a tender almost intimate gesture between Ron and Hermione in DH1 already. Oh my, it might be my favourite R/Hr moment. Together with the hug after Seven Potters and Hermione taking off the glasses off Ron. And of course Ron's speech after his return. And the Piano scene. Dammit, who am I kidding. I love all the R/Hr scenes. As cbmac said: RON/HERMIONE RULES!!!!!
