  1. Nightwing, those pictures are lovely! Also, my mother grew up in Oakville, so every time we go to visit family in Toronto or even if the CN Tower is in a movie or something, she stops everything so that we can acknowledge it. :P

This is the courthouse downtown. They show movies in the courtyard out back (through the arch). This summer's theme was alien movies from the 1950's, last year's was classic musical films like Singin' in the Rain, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, et cetera. It's nice, and it's a very short walk from the transit station. :)

  2. Yeah, I've been following his music for a long time and I think it's brilliant.

Also, on a side note, I love how your location says "Hagrid's Hut", Hogwarts Lover. :)

I think I heard that Simon Cowell was looking into signing Robert Pattinson, and I looked into his music and just did not care for it. I was like, "WHY, SIMON????!!!!! WHY????" And I think that the obvious Harry Potter cast member who should be going into the music business is Tom!

It doesn't even have to be through conventional methods anymore - breaking into the music business. I mean, there's that Alex Day on youtube, who as I understand it has had some radio success. I love "Forever Yours".

However he did so, I would hope that Tom could break into the business in a sustainable manner.

  3. Let me see, I think that technically the only Disney "princess" that was "American" would be Pocahontas...technically because she lived in North America. Jasmin is probably from the Middle East, Belle is from France, Ariel is from the sea, which in Disney universe is another nation, Aurora, Snowwhite and Cinderalla are not known.

This are of course the characters, not necessarily the voice actresses.

Oh, gosh, you're right! I didn't think that part through! I guess I got fooled by the accents. They're very American accents. I'd like a Disney princess with a British accent. I'm not sure if there has been one.

Yeah pretty much. Pocahontas is based off an account by John Smith during his time in the new world. She is highly altered from the original account to the Disney account though, primarily age wise.

Jasmin is based off the Arabian Nights version of Aladdin, one of the few fairy tales I haven't read so I don't know how accurate it is.

Beauty and the Beast is based off "La Belle et la Bête" which is considered a french fairy tale but there's some debate about it as I recall. I think the original story and the disney version differ.

The Little Mermaid was a story by Hans Christian Andersen so I suppose technically Danish, although the sea sounds better :P. His story and the Disney differ considerably.

Aurora/Sleeping beauty, Snow white, and Cinderella all originate in the Grimm Fairy Tales. The brothers Grimm gathered German folk tales and published them as two volumes, so I suppose you could say they are German.

There's also the Princess and the Frog which was loosely based on the Grimm's Fairy Tale "The Frog Prince," but the two stories differ greatly.

19th century fairy tales and short stories are one of my specialties ^.^.

And to answer the original question I suppose I wouldn't be opposed to Emma being a Disney princess. She's already done the animated princess though so I'm not sure how likely it is she'll do it again.

Wow, Dax. This is super impressive. ^^

actually, if you go to walt disney world's epcot, you would see snow white in Germany. You would also see the other princesses in their respective countries.

    Oh, that's cool. :)

  4. Okay, I want to address some things here.

    1. Incentives

B>C, where benefit exceeds cost. Benefits can include an assortment of things, from getting that grade to pleasing parents to finding an easy way out, et cetera, et cetera. Costs can include an assortment of things as well, such as loss of money to a fellow student, et cetera, et cetera. Of course, we've all heard of cases where people thought B>C, but got caught and found the consequences led them to solving that little equation and differently in the future... and cases where people have been caught and improved their methods of cheating.

    2. Partying

I went to one of the biggest party schools in the United States (universities - we more than cracked the top twenty) and that didn't typically have anything to do with it. People fit partying into their lifestyles. I've heard that fraternities will pass around answers to common tests, though.

    3. Skills

It's hard to say this, but quite honestly, not everybody is acing the SATs or the ACT or whatever standardized test your country may have for high school students (your O.W.L.s ;) ), and the reasoning behind this is varied, but in a way it can be a reflection of gaps in learning that were never filled. As we move into the future, I see websites like Khan Academy making education more universal, reaching more students than the traditional classroom reaches now.

  5. Have they had any British princesses? That would be nice. And an Indian one. And others. (Isn't that a bit funny? Historically, there have been so many British princesses, but Walt Disney and company come along with Snow White and all of the princesses are American! Although I imagine I am forgetting somebody.)

It could be interesting to see her as a live-action British, Disney princes... A new one... Not a lame one... A very interesting one... Yes, I like this idea. :-)

  6. My mother still buys CDs. :)

I buy them if it's, say, JoJo, which is to support JoJo because I just love her music - she is so talented. I generally just listen to music online, but I have a CD collection from when I was younger.

  7. I love the Beatles! :) When I was little, my dad told me music history stories instead of fairy tales. They actually have morals and everything. We listened to rock and roll in the car and he would tell these stories. The Beatles were definitely talked about a lot. :) I that collection of their number 1s, with the red cover and the yellow number one, and I would play it over and over all the way to my asthma doctor, which was two and a half hours away - and all the way back, detailing how to handle my millions in a benevolent way when I was older. :P And I had memorized "Yellow Submarine" and sang it alllll the way to church and all the way back, which was a thirty-five minute drive each way. :P And everywhere, really. And I still remember introducing my best friend from kindergarten to their music in the place between the first and second fields behind my house on the same CD player I used to bring to the doctor. We played "A Hard Day's Night" and, in my bedroom, "Penny Lane". And others.

    Yeah. They're great.

  8. With or Without You by U2

    See the stone

    Set in your eyes

    See the thorn

    Twist in your side

    I wait for you

    Slight of hand

    And twist of fate

    On a bed of nails

    He makes me wait

    And I wait without you

    With or without you

    With or without you

    Through the storm

    We reach the shore

    You give it all

    But I want more

    And I'm waiting for you

    With or without you

    With or without you, I

I can't live with or without you

    And you give yourself away

    And you give yourself away

    And you give...

    And you give...

    And you give yourself away

    My hands are tied

    My body bruised

    He's got me with

    Nothing to win and

    Nothing left to lose

    And you give yourself away

    And you give yourself away

    And you give...

    And you give...

    And you give yourself away

    With or without you

    With or without you, oh,

I can't live with or without you
