  1. Poor Ron, was so paranoid! And everything because of the Horcrux... <_<

You know, I LOVED that he left. I LOVED that he felt threatened and angry because he was vulnerable, and that made him really human. There was something very powerful in the way that scene was written.

And, of course, if he hadn't left he wouldn't have made such a heroic return either... and, apart from THE KISS, that is my 2nd favourite DH moment.

  2. I dont know vida-she has this look of shock on her face when Harry gets into it w. Ron but maybe it was the other way around...you are right- I forget she used the Protego charm and because of it, that prevented her from going after Ron right away yes?

I'm not sure, but I tend to think she was just trying to separate Ron and Harry as it would be more canon to the book.

Ron was fierce there - props to Rupert there for showing a CANON Ron! :yesyes:

  3. I'm reading Pride and Prejudice at the moment, and I'm liking it very much.

It is the fist Jane Austen's novel I've ever read and your input is very appreciated as I was going to continue with Sense and Sensibility later.

But I think now I'll have a go at Northanger Abbey first, as you are all agreeing that is very good.

I was also planning on reading Emma, since it's one of JK Rowling's favourite novels. :)

  4. Good thing that Rupert and Emma were not switched around otherwise Rupert's hands would be in a very inappropriate place :P

    That is so true! :0_0:

I guess that since I saw this photo I've been always busy thinking that Rupert should have turned around to face Emma, and I actually never thought what could have happened if they switched places instead!

  5. First off- YIKES!!!! I have never seen Ron that angry before!! Second-did you catch that Hermione is pulling Ron away like maybe she is afraid Harry might hurt her man!! Watch as pulls Ron away and is staring at Harry in disbelief almost saying back off Harry do not hurt my man!! Thanks for posting this Luciana :)

IMO, she just pushed Ron away so he wouldn't hurt Harry... that's the way I interpreted it at least.

In the book, she used the Protego charm, which only infuriated Ron even more... 'I get it. You choose him...'

  6. I saw this:

    My link

Didn't think about what Hermione was really doing either, but what this post brings up make sense!

Regarding Hermione possibly sleeping in Ron's bed after he leaves, I didn't pick up on that during my 3 viewings, but I'd love to think she did.

    Thank you for sharing this.

I hadn't noticed that Hermione might have been sleeping on Ron's bed while he was away... :ohyeah:

So I guess that means his bed will have Hermione's smell after he returns, which is just

cbmac, in Spanish we use the word 'montaje' (montage) or 'fotomontaje' (photomontage) to describe the process of putting together and editing images and photographs in an artistic way.

I assume you would use it in a similar way in the English language, even though the word 'montage' is actually French. :P

    Hope that helps...

  7. Gotta disagree here. The books are not first person POV and are definitely not Harry's POV. He is the protagonist but it is not his POV. The Harry Potter books are told from a third person limited POV. Thus the statement that Hermione is not attractive comes from the author or the teller of the story but not any one character.

And I gotta disagree with you.

The boos are definitely not told in first person, however Rowling uses a close third person narrator for the series, and it is almost exclusively told from Harry's POV.

  8. ...

The books are from Harry's perspective and in the books Hermione is never described as attractive. Harry was not attracted to Hermione and as a result Hermione was not desribed as attractive in the books. If the books were from Ron's perspective i think Hermione would have been desribed very differently.

    THIS 100%!

This is basically the main reason why I am a R/Hr shipper as well, and could never be otherwise.

The books are told from Harry's POV and therefore we know Harry's thoughts. He never expressed any attaction for Hermione -as opposed to Cho and Ginny, where we clearly KNOW how he felt- and therefore there is basically no reason for the readers to assume he hold any romantic feelings for her.

I also agree that if the books had been told from Ron's perspective, we would have had a much more detailed description of Hermione. :)

  9. Sorry for the double, but I just found this on another forum. On Imdb they voted for the scenes they looked forward to the most in DH2. Here it is from No. 32 to No. 1

I just had to LoL and squee at this. :D

Our couple's kiss is #1, yes! It should also be #2 and #3 most favourite moment as well!

  10. Jon, I think your question was more directed at me, as I am the only one of the two you mentioned who is both a Sirius/Harry lover and a R/Hr shipper.

I must admit that I have a love-hate relationship with OotP. One the one hand I also feel that we got plenty of evolvement in regards to our favourite couple.

One of my all time favourite moments is this one:

'Good luck, Ron,' said Hermione, standing on tiptoe and kissing him on the cheek. 'And you, Harry -'

Ron seemed to come to himself slightly as they walked back across the Great Hall. He touched the spot on his face where Hermione had kissed him, looking puzzled, as though he was not quite sure what had just happened. -

Chapter 19, Page 358 (British), Page 404 (American)

    :ohyeah::wub:

On the other hand, I cannot ignore the angst-filled moments surrounding Sirius' death. To this day, his death remains the one that touched me the most, mainly due to what Sirius meant for Harry.

Sirius brought new hope for Harry, the promise of a love-filled home and someone who loved him for who he was.

So yes, a love-hate relationship would be the best way to describe my feelings towards the Order of the Phoenix book.

I love it much more than I hate it though, as I simply think that any book that can make me feel such real pain, is a seriously worthy piece of literature. :)

  11. cbmac, I think your brother is jealous. Yes!

I think more adults would secretly like to be more open about their choices and tastes and be able to unravel their inner-child and, as they simply can't, they pick on us! :P

Sabine, when I bought the first book in Dec 2000 (thanks to an English teacher at the time), the only thing I knew about Harry was that he was a wizard.

I was completely oblivious to the world which was going to unfold and I am grateful that I didn't know anything beforehand.

It was also a surprise, for me, that Harry was actually a growing kid! In the children literature, it is completely common for characters to be 'frozen' in time, so it really surprised me that Harry and his friends were actually growing up in each book.

When I started reading HP, there were only the first 3 available in Argentina (since the 4th was only published earlier that year and, at that time, it took ages for shipping to arrive in my country!) and I didn't even know there were going to be 7 in the end!

So I think it is very safe for me to say I didn't know what to expect at all in regards to HP.

R/Hr's romance was the most engaging 'subplot' though.

While I started suspecting something might be up with them, the lack of response from Hermione's part kept me at bay (although I don't understand why people ship/shipped H/Hr either, I must say).

As Katharine said, once she delivered her line in GoF though, it was a given. :D

So really, if people would have read the first 4 released books before watching the movies, there would be no H/Hr shippers at all!

As much as I like Dan, Rupert and Emma playing the main characters, I sometimes wonder what would have happened if WB waited for all the books to be completed before starting to shoot the movies.

Would they have been closer to the original? Would we have had a more 'canon' R/Hr relationship?

    I guess we'll never know...

  12. I started reading The Lord of the Rings books about 12 years ago, even before I knew HP existed!

Then I continued by reading The Hobbit, even though it came out first.

I adore those books and, in general, was really pleased about the movies too. But I'd take the books any day. :king:

Are you a fan as well?

  13. Hermyron, I'd ask for the source of that article if I were you. Unfortunately hoaxes exist.

We usually posts links here, as an act of kindness to one another, and then we can discuss things in a more 'official' manner, for lack of a more suitable word.

But I wouldn't be too disheartened if I were you. Dan himself has mentioned that the three of them -Rupert included- hugged when they filmed the last scene, and that they teared up.

I simply think that Rupert's name must have been overlooked by someone who is clearly a D/E shipper, if you know what I mean. ;)

Luciana, I have not checked Mugglenet's forums for a while and nowadays I only read the news there, but I'm really surprised about what you mentioned about D/E shippers, as Emerson Spartz was the one who basically created the word 'DElusional'. :o
