  1. I absolutely loooove vintage clothing and jewelry, well vintage anything! I love going vintage/thrift shopping but unfortunately the area I'm in is very scarce with the clothing :( But search Etsy and type in vintage clothing, people go thrift shopping and resell the items online! I love checking it out when I get a chance, there are some beautiful stuff out there. I hope one day to go to LA to visit my uncle and hit up Melrose and shop at all the thrift stores.

  2. Definitely. I'd go back not only to "start over" but to tell my little self some important life lessons, and to never give up on HP.

I did once. Well kind of, I didn't throw away the books or stop watching the movies or anything, I just stopped "obsessing", I would still watch the movies on occasion but I didn't read the books for awhile or keep up with any of the actors. I was just, distracted. But I'll tell my little self not to let that happen, I missed out on a lot because of it.

  3. That one R/Hr response in the debate thread has me shaking my head, lol. I'm not an idiot, I know R/Hr love each other but yes ALL love can be explained, using the whole "they love each other" as a reason they should be together is not a valid enough reason lol. Come on R/Hr shippers SELL ME, try to convert me!! I want R/Hr to make sense to me.

  4. It's simple: Ron and Hermione love each other, and the love can't be explained. :)

Sorry babe, not a valid enough reason. I know they love each other, but it doesn't sell me on them. I want to know how you, as an R/Hr shipper, feel what made them fall in love with each other. What is it that Hermione loves about Ron? What is it that Ron loves about Hermione?

  5. This is the kind of thing I had hoped we would NOT get in this thread. I read the blog and it's highly offensive towards OBHWF shippers and to Ron fans as well as Ginny fans. I still maintain my conviction that it is indeed possible to argue a ship without resorting to denigrade a beloved wonderful character. Why isn't it possible to just explain why you prefer H/Hr WITHOUT putting down Ron (using biased and selective arguments at that)??? If that's really absolutely impossible, then I have to draw the conclusion that the H/Hr ship, or rather someone's belief in it, isn't very strong and very founded in the first place. I NEVER argued my ship, R/Hr, by putting down Harry. NEVER. And I am sure it's possible for H/HR too. I am even willing to do so in this thread. I am a die-hard R/Hr shipper, there is no way in the world that could be changed, but in the R/Hr thread I agreed that it would be interesting to play "devil's advocate" and argue pro H/Hr. Not against R/Hr, just pro H/Hr. Why they would make a good couple. I will do so in this thread, but I won't take any Ron or Ginny bashing. I just think it's fair to make that clear right from the beginning. I am hoping for an open, civilized and inspiring discussion.

Well, lets start: I think Harry and Hermione share something special as in they both grew up in the Muggle world and have been thrown into the Wizarding world without knowing too much about it. Except in Hermione's case of course what she read in books. But it must have been terrifying for them and I think no wizard or witch who grew up with magic can quite understand how it feels to come from "oustide" so to speak.

Ok, I have to say that I agree with you, that bashing Ron (and Ginny) is very annoying and it's stupid to use that against a canon ship. Although the part that I highlighted irked me a bit. I'm sure you didn't mean ALL H/Hr shippers, because I've met most that never bash Ron, we understand the importance of Ron in the trio. And the fact that just because some people bash Ron doesn't mean we don't have a "strong and found belief" in the couple. If I could, besides the one point you mentioned, make an entire 10 page essay on how H/Hr can and DO work.

"I still maintain my conviction that it is indeed impossible to argue a ship without resorting to denigrade a beloved wonderful character."

I am of the opinion that it is not impossible to debate a particular 'ship wihout resorting to degrading another character. I read the blog as well, and to tell you the truth, I did not quite like it at all. I felt it was insufficient enough to explain H/Hr to a R/Hr shipper. And, the diction in the blog article was not what I would have chosen in terms of trying to appeal to a mass of people (especially on MovieFone). I mean, really, you're just going to blatantly state your opinion without any consideration for other people? I mean, what do these people expect? The blog writer was a little thick.

She did make some good points. But, very few--i.e. Harry is a very "observant" person...just to state a premise.

I think your playing "Devil's Advocate" is a good idea. I used to be a R/Hr shipper. So, here goes: I suppose...Ron has the type of character that promotes "funniness, affability, and a resilient nature." Notice, I did not say "comic relief" because it denotes that, that is his primary function and he thus becomes merely a secondary character. He becomes relegated to the background, in other words.

The thing with Ron is: his nature is one that works well in conjunction with Hermione's serious persona. The friction between the two--the tension--plays off a sort of "banter" that, contrary to this blog writer's suggestion that Ron would not offer "intellectual stimulation", gives Hermione a challenge to enter into argument. She's always been one for debate.

Though Harry would be the one to match Hermione wit for wit (at times) and offer an "intellectual" sort of banter, Ron keeps Hermione in shape--both physically (running after him if he decides to make emotional decisions [think back to when Ron left Hermione and Harry in Deathly Hallows--the novel, I am mentioning, even though it happened in the movie]), mentally (all that irritation has to get her thinking), and emotionally (the range of emotions she would feel as a result would be incredible).

Well, I reckon my fellow H/Hr shippers (after reading this) would disown me.

But, hey, you started off playing on the H/Hr side, so I figured it would only be wise to offer some premises for the R/Hr side.

    Happy debating!! ;)

^ I don't disown you :) You do have a valid point, but how I counter that is the "banter" between Ron and Hermione, to me, is like banter between a brother and sister. Your siblings (or people you feel like are your siblings) are some of the most important people to help you grow as a person, you learn new things from them everyday (like patience) and in the end we would do ANYTHING for our siblings. I think sibling banter is the best kind of banter because it can be physical, mental, and emotion. They both help each other grow as people, learn new things, think new things, and feel new things. This could be used for a good reason why R/Hr work, and YES it is a valid reason... but I personally feel that the banter the two of them have is like the banter between a brother and sister.

Like others have said, I'll be back when I can have good solid "evidence" for H/Hr, I want you R/Hr are shippers to see the possibility and understand H/Hr. And I certainly hope more R/Hr shippers come in here and explain to us H/Hr shippers why you feel R/Hr work, because I've yet to find valid reasons, and I want you to make us H/Hr shippers UNDERSTAND R/Hr better.

  6. Amber, I'm sitting in McD's at the moment eating breakfast/lunch with me mom. I took a look at the receipt 'cause I got curious. And I found this:

This is why I be hatin' on poor Hugo's name. Hehe.

    -jokes jokes-

I hope people get a laugh out of this. It's only intended as a joke!!! ;)

Awww lol, you can't blame the poor kid for their awful choice in name choice.

Oh lordy, loved the "Screw Ginny and Ron" haha.

  7. I kind of like Draco... at first though he was just a pompous stuck up little boy who thought he was the God's gift to mankind... definitely a mini Lucius. But I definitely think it was pressure that made him become a deatheater, I think his father forced him, and when Voldemort told him to kill Dumbledore he didn't want to, at all. I think there is definitely good in him. He also tried to protect the trio when they came to the house, trying to pretend he didn't know them. That's how I perceived it anyway.

He's the only "bad" character I like, except maybe his mum. I absolutely hate Bellatrix but I would also like to see her story, how did she and her sister turn out so different? Why is she borderline insane and her sister borderline "good", I mean Narcissa did fool the Dark Lord by telling him that Harry was dead, when he wasn't. I would definitely like to know more about the story of the sisters and how they turned out so different.

  8. I know a lot of people ship Draco and Hermione but there is also quite the fanbase for Draco and Harry. Who do I ship him with? No one, I don't care for Draco... I like Movie Draco but Book Draco is a prat and I can't stand him. But I will admit I have read a few Dramione fics, they're an interesting couple and I can see how it would work between the two of them.

  9. Did you slap anyone this time? LOL. -teasing-

    -jokes jokes-

I was watching it this time through the eyes of someone who never watched the previous ones or read the books before. The plot is so condensed it makes it hard to catch up without being debriefed on what's already happened. Not too much a stand-alone film.

lol, no I didn't but it was just my brother, he'll live ;)

And I agree, I also wished they would have explained why they stopped saying Voldemort because my sister, who has never read the books didn't understand why. But I'm glad they did it the way they could, everyone should see the other movies to understand but that's just my opinion lol.

I have to also admit, loved when Hermione said, "Why can't we stay here and grow old together" when they were in the Forest of Dean. They added that, didn't they?

Me too! I got so excited when she said that, adorable :)

ALSO, I seriously LOLed when Hermione is reasoning with Harry and she talks about being "highly logical"...she goes into this whole formally-worded speech. When she could have just said, "I am not daft. It was easy. DUH."

Well that is Hermione for you! Her response was very Hermione-like which I absolutely loved.

One thing I wished they did different though was that, if they explained that Voldemort's name was taboo, was for Harry to say the name because he feels like it's his fault with what happened to Hermione, which as an H/Hr shipper is a big moment in their relationship even though JK doesn't go too much into it. But I can just see him feeling horrible and Hermione comforting him and then he gets all annoyed because he should be comforting her and I dunno it's just like a moment in their relationship that makes them closer, because Herms doesn't blame him but she understands how much it hurt Harry for her being hurt... if that makes any sense. lol.
