  1. If tomorrow, everybody forgot who she was, I don't think she would have any problem with that.
  2. Yep. Emma is human being. She gets to be as private or as public as she wants. She doesn't have a responsibility to share anything private with anyone. It doesn't matter how badly you want to know what's going on in her private life. It's none of your business. If you aren't happy with how public her private life is, then maybe you should reevaluate why you're a fan of hers in the first place.
  3. By having a very guarded private life, she is able to control her public image to a certain extent. But controlling your public image and changing your public image are two very different things. You expect her to try to change her public image by telling everyone how her priorities have changed, but a celebrity can't just suddenly change how people perceive them. Emma understands this, and that's why she does not go out of her way to tell the public what is on her mind. If she wants to get something off her chest, she has friends and family that she can talk to. I know you're inte
  4. Okay, I think I understand now. At the beginning of her college career, Emma was living in the dorms and focused only on school. Now that she's moved to New York, started projects and done other things while also attending school, her priorities have clearly changed. What you have a problem with is the fact that her public image is still of the Emma who lived in the dorms and focused only on school, right? And you want everyone to realize that her priorities are that of a movie star and a model, as well as a student, right? So you want Emma to let everyone know that now that s
  5. That isn't an answerable question. You just don't think that it's possible. Either you can do it, or you can't. If you just keep asking "How is she able to pass her classes when she's flying everywhere???" over and over again, don't expect anyone to try to calculate the probability of that. It's kind of like asking "How is the president running the country when he's always on vacation???" It doesn't contribute anything to the conversation. You're just asking a hypothetical question to nobody in particular. All it does is let everybody know that you have doubts about their compete
  6. This isn't malicious, and I don't think anybody was outraged by this specific comment. What people have a problem with is the fact that you're taking you're own theories about what Emma is feeling right now, and saying that they are fact. You can think that Emma doesn't take education seriously. That is totally fine. But the problem begins when you use that theory to claim hypocrisy. You're substituting your opinion with the facts and then you get frustrated when that isn't validated. So if she said "Education is still very important to me", she'd be lying, but if she said "Ed
  7. They responded that way because of how you framed you're questions, not the questions themselves. As for the discussion we just had, I did not react with outrage or denial to any of your points. I was simply trying to find the evidence behind the claims you were making.
  8. Instead of asking the same questions that you know have no answer, you could try coming up with new questions. I know you're frustrated that you're questions are not being addressed, but making snide remarks about it won't change anything. All it does is derail discussions that have the potential to actually be constructive. If you can bring new thoughts and ideas to the table, people will respond positively. I promise.
  9. If you want to be critical and ask questions, then actually ask the questions. Don't mask it with sarcasm, and then say that it's all in good fun when people get upset. The questions that you want to ask aren't really the issue here, it's the way you're going about it. Nobody is trying to stifle the conversation, we're just trying to keep things civil.
  10. There's humorous sarcasm and there's malicious sarcasm. It is possible to make fun of someone without insulting them. Their is a line between lighthearted fun and being outright mean. Learn the difference.
  11. 50 Shades of Grey was all anybody talked about before she stopped it.
  12. The juiciest topics are usually the ones that are none of our business. That's what makes them juicy.
  13. She doesn't need protection, she just wants to protect the level of privacy (both physically and figuratively) that she has built around herself at school. Once she loses that, it's not coming back. But yeah, once she's no longer a student, I think she'll talk about it more. Also, I don't think people really care all that much about her school stuff anymore now that she's doing more movies. There are much more juicier topics to ask about.
  14. The word professional means that it is directly related to a profession. Being a college student is not a job. You pay to go to college, the college doesn't pay you. You may see college as simply a stepping stone to a profession, but she probably sees it as the only 'normal' aspect of her life right now and the only thing that she has any control over. And it's probably something that is very special to her and it deserves to be protected from the public eye.
  15. "I just keep in mind that that’s what they're projecting onto me. I try to remember that there are two separate people: the professional me and the private me. Both different. I try to draw a line between the two." You may think that, but it's clear that she does not.
  16. That's your interpretation of what happened, and that's cool. But you shouldn't really expect an answer. I'm sure lots of people want to know how good she's doing at Brown, but she's not going to talk about that right now (you saw that she doesn't want any questions asked about that). It's part of her personal life and we have no right to demand that knowledge. Maybe, a few years from now, when she's graduated and moved on in her life, she might look back and talk about the changes she went through. Maybe then you'll find your answers.
  17. No, copying quotes is exactly what this thread needs more of. That way, we can actually discuss factual information, instead of half-baked assumptions that have no basis in reality.
  18. No, I'm pretty sure you are alone in that expectation.
  19. I didn't ask for your opinion. I asked what evidence you have. You've made it abundantly clear that you have none.
  20. No. Burden of proof lies with the accuser. If you make claims, the responsibility to provide evidence of that claim lies with you and you alone. Yeah, it's almost like people grow up over time and change their perspective as they live their life. Crazy right?
  21. How are her own words irrelevant? How could you gather what somebody's priorities are if you ignore everything they're saying? If her words don't matter, then anything she says won't matter to you because you'll have already decided for her, what her intentions are. If you want her to come out and talk about her priorities, why are you ignoring the quotes I've already provided that address that very topic? I understand that you're trying to prove the hypocrisy of her actions and statements, but I'm just trying to find actual examples of the statements you claim she is presently makin
  22. I feel like I'm talking in circles here. Your entire point is based upon the fact that she is saying that her top priority right now is education, but neither of you can prove that. You're just speaking in generalities and saying that's her intention without any signs of proof. Please. Please give me proof.
  23. Yes, it absolutely matters. In 2008, she was a year away from even starting classes at Brown. SHE WAS NOT A COLLEGE STUDENT. This is 2013. Not 2008. What she said 5 years ago is irrelevant to what her situation is right now. I asked you show me proof of her saying that education is her top priority right now. You haven't yet. Either put up or shut up.
  24. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/3054534/Harry-Potter-actress-Emma-Watson-puts-acting-career-on-hold.html That article is not from 2011. That article was published on September 22, 2008. She hadn't even enrolled in Brown yet. Seriously. I want you to show me where she said this, even remotely recently. You're assuming her opinion has changed radically solely based on the places she has traveled to. Nothing she has ever said suggests her opinion has changed radically. You're extrapolating huge amounts of information just from her showing up at places and doing thin
