  1. What's unclear? She said what her priorities are in the interview: ‘Friends and family come first and work comes second; that’s just how I live my life,' That's pretty loud and clear to me. Just because she didn't word it exactly like you want doesn't mean that she didn't address it. Don't expect her to reevaluate her life goals and explain every change in her life every time she does an interview. That would be exhausting. She's just answering questions and talking about what's important to her at that moment. This isn't a biography. Yes, you can. When you are an act
  2. So the fact that she's never said that is proof that she "dismisses the important of education"? Seriously? You're only evidence of her believing that is based on what she never actually said? I don't care what she will or will not accomplish in the future. That's not even what we're talking about. This whole conversation is about how your holding Emma responsible for claims she isn't actually making right now. Either she's saying education is a top priority for her right now or she isn't. What do you have to back up your claim that she is?
  3. Did you read the article? She says "‘I try to step away from the entertainment industry when I go and study - that gives me more time, I did my third year in Oxford, so that I could be around my family. Ultimately, they’re the priority. I don’t put anything above them.’ Where does she say that education is the top priority? Why are suggesting that she is saying that without any actual evidence of her saying that?
  4. Marie Claire February 2013: So in-between the movie career and being the face of Lancome and Burberry, she decided to fit in a degree in literature at Brown University in New York. She managed two years before it became impossible to combine both work and studies, so she decided to take a year out. At the time there were incorrect press reports saying she'd been bullied - claims that she subsequently rubbished. A month before we meet, her spokesperson confirmed her plans to return to Brown around now [January 2013]. Although I’ve been given specific email instructions not to mention her s
  5. Do you seriously think that is what she is feeling right now? So you think that, deep down, she's really an attention-whore that thinks learning is for poor people? Is this how you view all celebrities or just Emma?
  6. I don't really care what she said in the past. If you want a reflection of who she is right now, read what she has said recently. Statements are independent of people. When people change, their statements change. Not the other way around. She doesn't make statements and then live her life according to those statements. Those statements are a reflection of who she is at that moment. She's not studying anything scientific. Literature and History don't require lab work. The only things that determine grades are papers and tests. Everything else is superfluous. The amount of time
  7. This is exactly my point. I'm talking about what she just said about education, because she just said it. I can assume that her thoughts on that are presently the same because she just said it a few days ago. The same can't be said about the years old interviews you are citing. They happened in the past. A place neither you, I, nor Emma occupy. The thoughts she expressed then are the thoughts of Emma at that time. If you expect people to have the same exact thoughts and feelings throughout their whole life, prepare to disappointed. I'm in college right now. The amount of ti
  8. And now you've traveled completely into speculation and assumption. You just fabricated those "actions" to prove a point you have no evidence for.
  9. Where in that speech does she talk about school in the present tense? Every sentence about school is in the past tense. If you're suggesting she meant in the present tense as well, then you're suggesting she misspoke.
  10. Actions speak louder than words. People don't see her as a role model because she talked about education. They see her as a role model because she is actually attending an Ivy League College. In real life. Not in an interview. Nobody cares about a quote in a magazine. They care about what she actually chooses to do with her life, or perhaps more importantly, chooses not to do.
  11. "But the cool thing is that you have supported me in all of my awkwardness and allowed me to grow into the kind of actress and the kind of person that I hope to be. So I thank you very much for that. Becoming yourself is really hard and confusing and is a process. I was completely the eager beaver in school. I was the girl in the front of the class who was the first person to put her hand up and is often not cool to be the person that puts themselves out there and I've often gotten teased mercilessly. But I've found ultimately, if you truly pour your heart into what you believe in, even if it
  12. I hate that society as a whole actually thinks this. No celebrity should let their fans dictate what they should and should not do. Her decisions are her decisions. Not the fans. She is responsible for herself and nobody else.
  13. You'll notice she was speaking in the past tense their. She WAS the eager beaver. The whole speech was about how she's grown from that, and has EVOLVED into the ACTRESS she is today. It seems pretty obvious that her acting career is currently a big part of her life right now, and that it wasn't necessarily that way in the past.
  14. I don't understand why people hold celebrities accountable for everything they've ever said in any interview ever. Situations change. Priorities change. Have you ever said something in the past about yourself that is no longer the case? Would you like people to bring up things you've said in the past and criticize you for not doing exactly what you said you would? When celebrities answer interview questions, they aren't laying out the inner-workings of their own personal life for the world to critique. They're just answering the same stupid questions they've been asked for years, a
  15. So in order to show everyone how important her education is, she should stay behind. Not because it would affect when she would graduate, or whether or not she passes a class, but just to make an ideological statement about her current priorities? Is that what you're saying?
  16. No, I mean why do YOU think she shouldn't go.
  17. Then why do you think she should not go?
  18. So she either goes to France or fails her class? She has to pick?
  19. She wasn't referring to the cast, she was referring to the movie itself being screened at Cannes. The news wasn't that everyone from the movie was going to go, just that the festival chose to screen it.

  21. Yeah, I don't think it's the 15th anywhere in the world for a few more hours. That's assuming I'm interpreting time zones correctly, of course.
