Joanne P.
Hi everybody ! Everything in the title, to me fashion is unattainable, and I'd like it to change, because I'm kind of interested in it now. I want to be me, to feel comfortable in my clothes, not to be ashamed of my appearance. So, as I know you are all very into fashion, I want to ask you a few questions. First, I have a gala on Friday and I will wear a red dress, quite short. I can't wear heels, what's your advice ? Thanks a lot ! I'll
Arie
Awwwwdont be too hard on yourself!!! Fashion is easy! You'll get it!! Okay so I'm a little confused what the the question is? Are you asking what shoes to wear? If so, no need to wear heels. You can wear a nice pair of ballet flats!
Elena
A red dress will look fantastic with black flats.
Carlyn
You could wear some sparkly ballet flats in gold, silver or black. Or maybe you could shop around for a shoe that doesn't have a big heel.
relevancy
First off, don't say that fashion isn't attainable to you! Everyone has their own style and as long as you like it and you're comfortable with it, then it doesn't matter what other people think. I'm sure you'll find clothes that look good on you and that you really like. Eventually you'll get a feeling of your own personal style. If you can't wear heels I suggest some nice flats that would be comfortable and look great too! Choose maybe black or maybe beige - something that doesn't crash with the dress. I'm sure you'll look lovely!
Joanne P.
thanks to all, apparently you all agree about the ballet flats ! I think if I can find some black ones it will be perfect because I don't wear this kind of shoes very often, but in black I could wear them with a lot of other dresses. I sometimes feel comfortable in my clothes but the point is, even if I make efforts people keep on thinking that I'm a tom boy which was OK when I was 12 but now I'm tired of hearing that. And I will certainly not change my whole style for these people, but I'd like some advice about how I could "let them know" that hey, I'm a girl and let me breathe ! Because I have issues with the way I perceive my body, I have eating disorders and it doesn't help (before I was very self confident, now not that much). For example, I bought a red lipstick a few months ago and I never dared to wear it while I love it ! And I don't really know when/with what I can wear it.

Yeah I recommend a great pair of black flats in general, they go with almost everything. I wear them all the time. But, a gold or silver is great too. They are also Nuteral but give you an extra push. Black is black lol. Well it's all about finding what makes you feel pretty. Screw everyone else. If you feel pretty, then you look gorgeous. You can't let people know because you can't really control people. But, you can find away to dress that makes you feel like a girl ect. Don't let anyone else decide for you. I suffered with anorexia for years. I know exactly how you feel. In fact, my love of fashion is what really helped me pull through. I couldn't wear certain things anymore because my body was grossly small. When I gained weight back I felt beutiful in all sorts of close. I still get self-conscious a lot too. But, when I wear something I love, all that goes away. I look in the mirror and see a pretty girl, and I don't care what anyone else says. Of course, there are still those days... But.... It gets better. Red lipstick can go with pretty much anything, except too much red lol. I wouldn't wear red lipstick with a red dress, but many would. I like putting on red lipstick when I'm wearing jeans and a nice shirt. It's automatically puts that jeans and shirt on another level. Try wearing it with more regular Ike clothes so you get used to it. Then start playing around. It's always good to start slow. Swap a t-shirt for a nicer blouse but keep on your favorite jeans. Swap your sneakers for flats but wear what you usually wear. After a while you will automatically start to swap more things. You will realize your favorite jeans don't actually fit you that great or a t-shirt isn't nice with a certain pair of shoes. Then you swap more. Then all of a sudden, your dressing so differently. Its all about playing around and on top of it all having fun!!
Joanne P.
Thanks Arie ! You are definitively someone I would ask an advice ! Because you speak my language I love the way you explain how to change slowly, it felt so easy when I read it These days are hard for me because all the girls are talking about their dresses and everything and I really feel like I won't be able to make it... But I don't want to be the prettiest, just to have fun without comparing me with every girl I will see. Again, thanks ! Tomorrow I'll go looking for these shoes, I'll show you a picture if I find them

Tomorrow I'll go looking for these shoes, I'll show you a picture if I find them Aw wow thanks! It's my pleasure. I am always here to help anyone with anything! Yeah I think it's always best to go slow when you are uncomfortable with something, at least that's how I am with EVERYTHING lol. So you have to figure out a way to not care about comparing yourself or what other people think. I know that is a near impossible task. But, I feel like if you can't forget about everyone else even if you are the prettiest girl in the room you will feel like the ugliest. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Who gives crap what some girl says. If you think you look pretty, then I bet you look gorgeous! Its all about convincing yourself and forgetting about everyone else. It's so tough, I know it is. But, remember that it isn't impossible. NP! I am always happy to help! If you can't find anything or are unsure of what will look right. Send me a pic of the dress or something similar you can find online. I'll then send you pics of all the flats I think will work that I can find. I have done this loads of times for people lol. So never feel bad for asking for my help! It is always my pleasure! The other girls here are great too and I know they will all be happy to help!!!

Joanne P.
First thanks to you because I implemented your advice today wearing a hat I bought last week and everybody told me it was great And you were right, I felt good all day because I felt like people were seing me as I really am ! And I bought my shoes this morning, they are simple (I saw a couple of pairs I liked too but these ones were cheaper and I couldn't really afford the others) but I like them, I'm not very into sophisticated clothes or accessories. and my dress looks like this one, but in red :

Wow, that's so great about the hair cut. I had long hair for a really long time. I went through some bad stuff last year and sort of changed a lot about me. One of the last things I did was cut my hair short. It felt really good. Awwww wow that's an amazing compliment. Thank you so much. I am so happy I could help in my own little way! Its what I love to do!
