Jonny Carinthia
A brilliant, breathtaking exhibition..... You can stay a whole day and still you have not seen everything.... But everything besides the exhibition is the biggest rip-off of the world .....
ling
I keep meaning to go to this (I live an hour south of London), but I always forget and I'm a bit scared since I'd have to go on a weekend and I'm sure it's insanely busy.
Jonny Carinthia
I don't think so.... You get a ticket with a time-slot (you have to book by yourself via the Internet) and you can enter the exhibition only during this time-slot.When we arrived there a member of staff checked our tickets and we were able to go in 1 hr before our time-slot. A slot means 30 mins (we had 11.30-12.00 and went in at 10:40). You enter with approx. 40 other people in a lobby, where a guide is introducing you to the exhibition (and is making some jokes about Emma and her male fans, too). Then you will be seated in a cinema, where a short film about the history of the studios is shown, hosted by Emma, Dan and Rups. At the end the screen went up in the air and the doors to the great hall opens..... Go and see for yourself. But bring water and food with you! You should avoid to go with a child in the fan-shop at the end of the exhibition. Costs you at least 200 pounds.... Edited October 18, 2013 by Jonny Carinthia
Sacred_Path
But bring water and food with you!I'm sure it's not that big
Jonny Carinthia
I'm sure it's not that big Big enough to spend 6 hours there....and food and beverages are very, very expensive.......
soulsister
This really looks spectacular!!! I can't wait to get over there and see it. I really loved the HP sets/props show when it came to Chicago a few years ago. While I was looking at Remus' suit on display, this British guy asked if I wasdone looking at it. I said yes, and then asked why. He said they had to overnightit for filming the next day--Bill/Fleurs wedding scene. LOL!!! On a sad note, every time we look at these sets, we will remember the brilliance and creativity of the late Stephenie McMillian, who passed in Aug. She along withStuart Craig, created this wizarding world that just makes you want to stay at Hogwartsforever.
Jonny Carinthia
It is spectacular - definitly. I will go again next year - but without my son. There are so many little details, you can see if you take your time. Did you know that there was a special "point-counting-machine" for the house-points (you can see the device in the right corner of the first picture behind Hagrits outfit)? No? No wonder, because it was build by the props-team, but never really used in the movies. And so on.... Oh, and if you like you can ride on a broom or take a ride in Weasley's magical car...... soulsister
Weasley's magical car is the Ford Anglia--which Rupert bought--and is loaning it to the exhibit. That's really cool!!
Jonny Carinthia
Weasley's magical car is the Ford Anglia--which Rupert bought--and is loaning it to the exhibit. That's really cool!! Hmmm, which one did he buy? There were in total 18 (!) Ford Anglias, used for the movies. Most of them were destroyed during filming. So he could only buy "one out of the lot". Here is the one they (with missing interior) provided for "private pictures" (free of charge, whooho!) in the backlot.
Lindalumos
I hope I'll be able to visit next year when I'm going to London with my uni :
Jonny Carinthia
I'll be back in March - just booked the tickets.... :-)
Lindalumos
Did I understand it correctly, that you need to book tickets online before you go there? Or can you just show up and buy tickets there?
Jonny Carinthia
The best way to visit the exhibition is to go from London by the "Hogwarts Express". This is a BUS-Service, starting from Viktoria Station approx. every hour from 8 am onwards. Included in the fare is the Ticket (time slot is 90 min after departure from London) for the exhibition. The bus needs approx. 80 minutes from central London to Watford. But it is very conveniend, because the bus stop is directly in front of the entrance, no car-driving-stress from London to Watford (we passed many queues of the morning/afternoon traffic on the "bus lane" in high speed) and there is infotainment on the bus. You stay approx. 5 hrs at Watford before your return service leaves - again from the bus-stop in front of the entrance. You find all informations here: http://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/en Edited November 2, 2013 by Jonny Carinthia
