^It's got to do with resonance I believe. Our body is like an accoustic box; the voice comes from within ourselves, which makes us hear it differently than others whom it reaches through the air and without the inner resonance. Waiting till the water is boiling.

This topic is dying! I am listening to my recording of my singing lesson and wonder why my speaking voice sounds so odd. I know it's with resonance and everything and that your own voice sounds very different in your head, but still I find it very striking. In my opinion I speak much higher than I realise...really weird.

In the Netherlands we have a tv-program called "Over Mijn Lijk" ("Over my dead body"); a reporter follows the life of five young cancer patiens who have no chance of recovery anymore for more than a year. All participants of the five series by now created were between 14 and 38 years old approximately. Only one of them is still alive right now.
