  1. Quote I could see this in a couple of different ways. If Rupert and Emma are in a secret relationship she could well be talking about him, and keeping his name out of her comment would make total sense. People enjoy talking about the people they love, so it's hard to keep them totally out of conversation. By talking about Rupes secretly she could satisfy that desire to give a kind of nod to him and all he means to her without bringing unwanted media scrutiny. She also could be talking about a friend who is not Rupert who she wants to protect. She has mentioned before how the tablo
  2. great mod... better person Thanks Kimberley! =)
  3. Seemless transition there DW. Thank you for the kind words. I can't believe I left out race though! With the Full Blooded Wizards, the Half Blooded and the Muggle-born. Not to mention the HOUSE ELVES (gosh, Hermione would kill ME... Ron remembered the House Elves even! ) Where's the penseive when I need it to help me remember things as I remembered them once before? Ron is my favorite HP character (I'm sure I've mentioned that before) and it's closely followed by Harry/Snape. The thing I like so much about both Ron and Harry is that not everyone can be a Harry and not everyone can b
  4. So social media DOES have a redeeming quality? Off topicc or not I loved the insight Katharine. Even though I read the books as an adult, the fact that I was reading about characters who were kids when I was still a kid, helped my get over my, "I don't want to read a kid's book" prejudice a little. When I opened myself up to that too, I realized that the Harry Potter series is not "a kid's book" per se and that there are so many aspects that can resonate with any age group. The understated time frame that you mentioned was part of that but so was the diversity of the characters in a ve
  5. Hmmm... why do I want to see Rupert and Emma together? Mostly I suppose it comes down to it seeming to me that it seems that they may want to be together. As long as people's desires are well intended in life and they share a desire to be together then that is what I hope for for them. So many times people let obstacles get in the way of love, which can be both a simple and complicated thing at the same time. I think that many times we have a way of making things harder than they have to be. I guess the other key would be what you pointed to Kristin, as far as respecting one another. A l
  6. NERD! Well spotted, at that! I always liked that while the books took off in popularity with the generation after mine, that the characters themselves were actually right about my age. Just a couple years younger than me.
  7. I know we've discussed this before, but I THINK it was on the old forum... so I thought it might be nice if everyone could share their stories here (again for many). How was it that you first came to ship Rupert and Emma? For me I kind of stumbled into the ship when I joined the former ew.net. I started reading the books after all of them had been written, but the Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows had yet to come out in the theaters. I joined because while reading the books I had become a serious Ron and Hermione shipper. Having surfed the internet and finding like-minded shippers (
  8. What's the legacy of Harry Potter? Did the Harry Potter series help to bring a generation of young people and even older people back to reading? Do you read more books today because of the Harry Potter series? Will the books or movies better stand the test of time and will the movies ever be remade? If you have children or grandchildren one day or have them now, do you intend on reading the Harry Potter series to/with them? Would you show them the movies? Did you take anything away from the books/movies other than the entertainment value or them? How has the series inspired you?
  9. ARIEBELLES! Are you going to make me and Noura have to hide you from the boys again? *locks door* *throws away key* *posts BOYS FORBIDDEN SIGN* Dina, you're the best/youngest looking 30 year old I've ever seen. well... next to Widu I mean of course.
  10. I have been doing my best Rupert and Emma impersonation lately. >.< <---- Incognito face Of course we're all still here pfft! I mean I can't swim all that well, so what other choice do I have but to stay aboard the ship? I mean... I can float pretty well but why do all that work? Kristin is Captain, Dee, Luciana, Courtney, Katharine and Trixie navigate the rough seas and swab the decks. I'm just along for the ride. This is THE GOOD LIFE! Just waiting for Rupes and Emms to come out with the big R/Eveal is all I have to do. Personally, I think Rupes and Emma may be waitin
  11. One for Sorrow Two for Joy by Innocence Mission *I've been wanting to post an Innocence Mission song for a long time and my sister recently made up a CD for me. They are an amazing husband and wife group from the late 1980's through the 1990's for the most part, even though I believe they still make music today. Somewhat Ironically, when I was looking to link One for Sorrow Two for Joy, I found that they have a track called Evensong on the Perks of Being a Wallflower Soundtrack. @ Emma Rules: Jane Says is my favorite Jane's Addiction Tune
  12. Thanks Dax. The U.S. media was one of the things I was really wondering about. I watch less media than I have ever watched before because I become more and more skeptical of the t.v. media. I suppose the best or most reliable sources might come from print media, but one of the toughest decisions I make especially when it comes to world affairs is knowing where to get my news/current events from. I know that virtually everyone has some agenda and to ask for an entirely unbiased news source is not realistic. I believe it's good to have an opinion any way, I just don't feel comfortable shapi
  13. North Korea is really making waves in the news in the United States again. I think that a lot of the time Americans can kind of push these world conflicts aside in our thoughts until they really ratchett up. I suppose that's only natural as being so omnipresent in World affairs would require a constant vigil by the American public if every skirmish or statement drew our attention. Therefore it's not a criticism, simply an observation. Obviously South Korea has the most pressing concerns with the recent news, but I think it's important for the American public to pay attention to what's go
  14. I always thought that Griffiths did a wonderful job portraying Vernon Dursley in the franchise. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. Truly sad news. :'(

  19. Tom and Kimberley: It's not the quantity of members that matters as much as the quality. oh... crickets! Now I just depressed them more.
  20. Happy birthday Emma! =) I bought you a cow... because... hey! Who can't use a cow? They give milk They don't talk too much They're cute They're a good conversation starter when you don't know what to talk about. "Hey.. did I ever tell you about my pet cow?" ummm... that's all I can think of. Hope you like it! Not sure when it will get there, but I sent it on the next cargo ship across the Atlantic. Have the bestest birthday EVER! <3

  22. River - by Civil Twilight whenever there is a Muse song I actually like.... I find out that it's not Muse, but actually Civil Twilight. I'm not even sure that they sound that much alike... but for some reason I always confuse Civil Twilight for Muse, with the exception of liking their music.
  23. Out of Oz (4th and final book in the Wicked Years series) by Gregory Maguire
  24. I know there is a "Who were you" thread here and I suppose the meanings/origins of past usernames could be discussed here. Sometimes when I read the different usernames here of people I know and even those I do not know I wonder why they chose the username they did. So how did you choose your username and what does it mean to you? My original username on the old forum and when I first came here was casualobserver. I chose it because I wasn't quite sure how much I would participate in the forums as far as chats and thread topics. I had also been reading the forums for about 4 months or
