  1. You ladies mean to tell me that real love isn't the Bella/Edward love of Twilight? Who wants a Ron/Hermione love? A love that challenges them and makes them grow as a person!? PFFT! Isn't the Bella/Edward couch potato love so much easier? Who needs to work on perfection? ooorrr... are you ladies suggesting that people and love aren't perfect? What kind of Bizzaro world are you all living in anyway? Oh... just the real world... that's all. >.<
  2. Ehhh, she's from England! Who really needs sunscreen there anyway? Thanks for explaining what a Yooper is and great tea party line btw Dee! Just to make things clear though, we were talking about Rupert and Emma and not the Republicans right? Even though the "throw over board" scenario is probably not so bad in either case. Thanks Trixie! When I think about shipping, I think it's always important to try and keep a sense of humor about it. Not to make fun of it... BUT... to have fun with it. Hopefully we all do that here. After all, this ship is a joyful, positive affirmation
  3. On the contrary Junkie. I was trying to compliment you and I was willing to bequest my vote for captain to you .. but my motives did have a bit of an alterior design, for I feined bravely the hope that I might in turn win favour from one of the Windies so that the Windudes might actually stand a chance for once. Alas, it was not to be and to my chagrin there is no proclivity towards Benedict Arnold (a little American History there) or Brutus in your loyal lot. (TRANSLATION: I was trying to get you to turn on the other girls and help me out a little!) Dang it all! Aren't girls not suppos

  7. If Junkie wouldn't put me in the brig quite so much... well... then I vote for Junkie! I mean... you're the bestest shipping captain ever Kristin!
  8. The more I think about what I requested the more I feel like a selfish sellout to other loyal shippers.... so.... on the already extremely remote chance that my request would be met, please ignore it and if things are meant to be as we shippas believe then they will be r/evealed in good time as all parties involved see most fit. So, as an alternate request I ask for a "get out of the brig" free pass, which I might have to use right now *hangs head in shame and locks self in brig* >.<
  9. Asking for a R/Evelation for my birthday gift on January 7th! You can PM me Emma and/or Rupert. I'll keep it secret if that is what you want. Promise. I keep my promises if you don't know. (sorry Dee and Kris and Lumos and Junkie and all others) If not possible. I understand. >.< oh crap.. probably just opened myself to a spam PM... sorry to ask for proof... but a little believable proof would help too. LOL Something along the lines of a coded message on twitter after the PM. (I think these things out carefully) Don't throw me in the brig for my selfish act of shipperd
  10. I love that moment from the books Junkie --- I'm glad that the WB chose to make it part of the movie too. Thanks for the happy new year Lumos, same to you Kristin: FINE we'll go with your "Grintson" term instead of my "Year of the Grint" term. I'm not offended. Your term is much more inclusive anyway. Better describes the ship! Gosh --- Captain "Show Off" ! Oh crap! I may have just earned some more time in the brink. And I'd been doing so well too.
  11. Prediction: 2014 is the Year of the Grint! What does that mean? Well, if you don't know by now, then...

  14. Do we know when Ron and Hermione got engaged? I know while the Yule Ball was not a particularly happy memory for them, I always attached the magic of the Christmas season with the Harry Potter Books. Didn't Ron and Hermione spend a winter break or two together? Or am I making stuff up now... (don't put that past me...haha) I always imagined they got engaged on Christmas. I don't know if JKR ever mentioned when they got engaged. If she hasn't, I'm gonna say Christmas Day! So there!

  16. I kind of like Peter Pan Each person has to be there own person and somehow I expect that no picture of Emma or Bonnie completely expresses everything about them. Sometimes they probably don't express anything about them. And I agree that Bonnie looks great in that picture.
  17. It's great when any celebrities (or non celebrities for that matter) take the time to do charitable work. There's a different kind of magic that no wand can cast when Rupert or Emma or any HP cast member visits with sick children. It's that magic that Dumbledore so valued and Tom Riddle could never understand or appreciate. Thank you for sharing those pictures cbmac12. It's nice to be cheered this holiday season with the knowledge that Emma and Rupert embrace the HP characters and recognize their lasting impact and legacy. Rupert and Emma are a credit to that legacy and a credit to their
  18. I could ship movie Harry/Luna a lot easier than book Harry/Luna I think. Even though I could easily understand the appeal considering their personalities and histories. I was never big for the whole Luna/Neville thing that the movies (esp. DH2) tried to portray. To me it seemed contrived simply to appeal to HP fans who liked the pairing. I don't like when movies veer off from the canon just to pander to fandom. While I appreciate any fan's shipping choices I come down a bit harder on "shipping" when a movie director or producer is imparting their ideas and those stray from canon.
  19. Harry and Gollum? So I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE?!?!?! It's easy to get lost in those big eyes of Gollum's as I'm sure Harry has discovered. I was just fearful of starting the new thread here as I'd never heard of another Harry/Gollum shipper before. Great job Kristin and Katharine! *moderate but appropriate applause* I should have added Kristin into the whole canon discussion as I'm sure she is familiar with discussions involving the teaching canon (what's generally material that is considered as acceptable or as expected to be taught in U.S. schools).
  20. Here's my best (long winded) stab at an explanation: The canon does not necessarily have anything to do with shipping. If there were no shipping communities than the canon would still exist. The canon is the story as written by the author. So in the case of the HP books when anyone is talking about the canon, they are talking about the story and the characters and the literary choices as they were written/made by the original author Joanne Rowling. So hypothetically speaking: If JKR had chosen to write a relationship between Draco and Dobby then that would have been part of the canon.
  21. I'm not sure what it is about snow, but for me there has always been something magical about it. For many kids it starts in childhood when a day off from school is precipitated (pun intended) by a snow fall. Perhaps that's where the magic starts? I'm not sure. I just know that for whatever reason from childhood until adulthood I've always loved snow. I admit that I would not likely feel the same way if I lived in a place where it snowed for a good portion of the year. I have no desire to move to the extreme north or extreme south. Part of the magic is in the arbitrary nature of snow f
  22. Kristin, your statment that, " I think it's pretty safe to say JKR's more of a ROMIONE shipper than anything" is really interesting to me. That you and I are Ron and Hermione shippers is clear.. but does Joanne Rowling really feel that way? I'm not sure if it is my id, ego or superego that wished Jo Rowling read our threads, but on the remarkably slim chance that she would respond to a question here... the following question is one I'd love to ask her... "if forced to choose, then which HP relationship personally took precedence when writing the HP books, and WHY?". To most people this que
