  1. You see Katharine, MOST people would read your response to what I wrote and realize that perhaps they had been a tad bit self-indulgent and overly dramatic in their analysis of your chapter. But as for me.... I'm just happy to be receiving special attention! Now here's the answer you SHOULD have given me instead of your very kind and diplomatic answer: Who's writing this fan fic anyway? Because last time I checked...it was ME. This is Harry Potter and the "BROKEN PIECES"... now if that weren't a big enough clue for you about what might be coming and you were expecting something mo
  2. Okay, a few things.... first off... IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!! haha. perhaps that was a bit extreme. >.< That said, I do truthfully enjoy your writing Katharine. I have to ask: Have you ever considered writing a book? Outside of fan fiction of course? I find your naratives to be very natural and well written. I've had friends who have written books and not done so with quite the same affinity for the kind of structure that allows one to "lose themselves" in the story and not think about the fact that there is a writer. I know that sounds a bit odd, but to me that's the essence o
  3. I had a strong sense that a spinoff would come to fruition at some point. JKR produced 7 incredible books in the HP series, so I have little doubt that she could do the same for a movie spin off. I always figured any kind of spinoff would involve one of the less explored figures in the HP series. I thought the mer people were an intriguing option, but they even had something of a higher profile in the series than Newt Scamander did. I'm happy she has agreed to take on this project, no matter the end result. There is simply too much promise for something else we can all enjoy not to
  4. I liked your comment LumosAsphodel! For myself, I'd much rather look like a freak than act like one by being critical of an innocuous comment on a fan forum.
  5. @ berrytea: I never remember hearing too much about any of the cast's on set interactions really. It seems that most of what any of us derive from their interactions come from what we've seen in interviews and during movie openings. That and what we read in the media of course. Personally I don't think of them as all that similar to the characters they played. @ kristin: Sometimes a smile says all that needs to be said. Am I right?
  6. Thank you for the prompt answer and explanation dook, I was always a bit curious about that. I can understand the aversion to having the bots... is there no way for you to get rid of them? If there is not (which I imagine it must be tough or impossible to do seeing as you have not done so already) , hopefully the benefit of site advertisement to people interested in joining or reading the posts out weighs any draw backs. >.<
  7. When you're approaching 40 it's hard to put a number on it and rather than give it a number it is much easier to simply say that she looks young. LOL so there's some perspective for you. haha
  8. It's kind of odd that I created this thread and yet I've never responded in it until now. In doing so now, I can see a whole lot of postive in it. Life is how we look at it.. and we ALL look at it through different prisms. My prism is what is right for me and someone else's is what's right for them. I don't think that a H/Hr shipper is wrong, they are just different from me as a R/Hr shipper. I think (or would hope) that most people do not take offense to a different point of view... what they take offense to is the way that point of view is presented. That is why I endeavored to c
  9. rather than create a new thread for it I figured I'd ask here... (for curiosity's sake) When the Bing and Google Bots are viewing threads, are they taking material from those threads and giving access to them through their search engines? Or is there presence entirely unrelated to that? I always kind of wondered about this. >.<
  10. I'm a member of two fantasy football leagues this year. Which is one more than I am usually a part of. Are there any other forum members who enjoy fantasy (American) football? I've been a part of one league with online friends for a decade now. I have an affinity for performing well in these leagues, even though I struggle terribly in picking individual football games and who will win (something else I've been doing for a decade). It's kind of late to get one going this year now, and who knows where life takes us, but if there are enough interested members, perhaps in the future we can
  11. We Don't Gotta Work it Out by Fitz and the Tantrums I'm so excited I'm going to get to see them and Capital Cities at the venue in the parking lot next to where I work at the end of October.
  12. I don't know about his history, but if he has abused her in the past and it is documented and this still happened. Accident or not, I would care less if they found him guilty. There is no reason what so ever to abuse another person. Especially someone whom you have a physical advantage over. If you've been a bad person and done bad things then eventually it catches up to you. If it does so by mistake... in my mind, you still got what you deserved, as harsh as that might be to say. If he has no history of abuse with women it becomes much more clouded for me. I can understand someone pr
  13. Thanks Chris! That was great! I said one per post... but what the heck... multiple works just fine too. The more love that goes around the better. Yes... I'm unabashedly a product of the 1970's LOL I love my ex-e-nurse Carlyn for being my blogging buddy and being one of my best friends in the e-universe or otherwise. Who has undoubtedly had the largest impact on my life of anyone I've ever met on line. I love Tom for being a friend I can always talk to no matter after how long we may not have spoken and there are no hurt feelings or drama in the absence of convo, we can pick up just
  14. Hufflepuff is where I would get placed with an outside chance at Ravenclaw. Few people want to be Hufflepuff, it's not the "sexy" house to be in with a lot of HP characters you can relate to. Therefore, a lot of people have a negative opion of the House I believe. Not in the sense that they think of it as a bad house.. just not the house they'd want to be in. Truth be told, most of us are all assimilations of parts of each house. It's like picking a college: it's not where you go that matters as much as what you do when you go there. All hypothetically speaking of course.
  15. One person's translation will always be different from anothers, so if you felt the formality of the word should have been translated differently that's entirely fair. I wouldn't classify one wrong and one right (but of course I speak English where we do not distinguish you as more formal or less formal). Really, what it all comes down to IMO is personal preference. I think your point is a good one, but you'd really have to ask the translator their reasoning for making the decision they made to determine whether or not you fully agree with it.
  16. Miss Katharine, I totally agree with your BF on this one...the kiss on the stairs, the final of the three kisses between Harry and Ginny in the films was a bit of a **** kiss. It almost seems like it was thrown in just to appeal to fandom. It was rushed and in an entirely poor/inappropriate moment. I understand that they might not see one another again, but part of me has always had a bit of a problem with the kisses (yes the Ron and Hermione kiss too) occuring during the final battle (and I mean that in the books too). This is just me being way over critical, because I love all the rela
  17. rhrshipper: I tend to be pretty wordy in a lot of my posts...thank you for succinctly capturing everything that book Ron and Hermione are about. I don't know that there is anything to add to what you said that could any better capture the essence of their relationship. (So of course I'll add.. beacause it's what I do... sighs) To me it's the heart of my Harry Potter experience. While the wonderfully and intricately desinged story that Jo Rowling created is the mind and the spirit in many respects of my HP journey... the heart of it is, was and always will be the relationship that Ron and
  18. If you were in potions class and happened to create a perfect Draught of Living Death, thus earning the prized Felix Felicis potion from Professor Slughorn,on what day would you use it? Would you take the potions during your final exams for school? During a sports tryout? On a job interview? I've sometimes contemplated when I might have taken the mythical potion. The difficulty in deciding is that you can only use it once and then it's gone, so be duly advised to choose wisely.
  19. Of course many of us could imagine who we might use the amortentia love potion on in our lives, IF we were predisposed to do that kind of thing. I'm not advocating a love based on chemical dependence, and this thread isn't meant to create any real life angst in people's personal lives... after all this is the "game's room" and this of course is a game ---- just wanted to stress that point It's goal is to create positivity among our members and not jealousy or feelings of being left out or unloved. I would ask that people also please avoid any sarcasm. It's goal is not to cause any hu
  20. Are Rupert and Emma not as much in the public eye as they were during the HP years? It's difficult for me to get a grasp on that as I don't follow the entertainment world closely. In asking that question, I only ask in relation to the HP years and in particular that last few years of the movie series. Obviousley they both still have a huge celebrity profile and following, but has it increased since then or decreased somewhat? The reason I ask is because I get the feeling that IF they are together that I would think they would want their celebrity profile to decrease on some level while s
  21. pic spam... Pfft! how girly!!! *peeks* *drools* >.< welcome chosenone14 Katharine: *dodges dung bombs* one of the great things about discussing character "flaws" for the trio in the HP series is that it kind of seems like nit-picking, but even in doing so, all of the trio made progress and grew as people, learning from one another. I really appreciate your and Kristin's analysis' of Hermione. I don't know if it's inherent to guys... or just me, but sometimes I can "idealize" a bit when it comes to women. >.< pfft!!! Even as an adult! Though hopefully I've ma
  22. This story becomes more bizzare and sad each day it seems. Some news reports are linking Hernandez now with the investigation of a double homicide in Massachusetts in July of 2012. He is also being sued or likely to be sued for an incident in 2010 where he reportedly shot a man in his car, following an argument they had after leaving a strip club in Florida. The man lost his eye as a result of the shooting. It is already hard not to appear guilty in the court of public opinion. The law has a much higher standard of proof and rightfully so, but things don't look good at the moment for Mr.

  24. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/06/26/19152123-former-patriots-tight-end-aaron-hernandez-charged-with-murder?lite I wasn't sure if this should go in the current events forum or the sports forum. The mods can switch it as they see fit. I know that trials these days have become popular entertainment for many. I do not tend to follow too many live television trials since the O.J. Simpson murder trail. Upon seeing the news broadcasts today, I was wondering as to whether or not it is "typical" or "required" for the prosecution to openly discuss they evidence they propose to have when
