  1. I've traveled to a few states in the US, and I've been to Ireland. I want to go back and I also want to study abroad! Because I'm a Spanish major I'll probably end up studying in either spain or somewhere in south america, but I want to travel to all of central/south america, the carribean (not really the Virgin Islands, but Cuba, the DR, Haiti, etc), europe, egypt...yeah. EVERYWHERE.
  2. Wow, that looks beautiful!! I think living on an island would be amazing
  3. Went to the gym Ate (fairly) healthily today Am doing my homework and after I do my homework I'm going to work on my friend's friendship bracelet and watch a movie.
  4. does awesome drawings and has a fab sense of humor (I always knew i wasn't truly american hahaha)
  5. A little off topic here, but I'd like to bring up Paradise Lost and Milton's view of the Devil, heaven, and the ultimate sin that Adam and Eve committed. I just read some of the books (excerpts for my English class) and it's really interesting to me to see the progression of Satan and his thoughts towards the Garden of Eden. At some points, he actually has remorse for what he has done and regrets his downfall, but he still continues on. Milton also thinks of women as the ultimate sinner, and inferior, and blah blah blah, but the point is pretty valid (my feminist mum would shoot me right now l
  6. Hahahaha there are wasabi peas for the taking at my dining hall, those aren't really for me! Gosh, I've eaten a lot today, a LOT of carbs, I need to start eating more balanced lol. Breakfast: Eggs, Tater tots (both with ketchup) and toast (mmm...school breakfasts *gag*), and strawberry-kiwi juice to drink Lunch - Pita bread w/hummus, potato skins w/cheese and some beans, cranberry juice to drink. Dinner - shrimp scampi w/risotto, cucumbers with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and pepper, cut up tangerines, chicken soup, and orange juice to drink. Need to put some more fruit/vegetables in the
  7. I got up in time for breakfast Am doing my reading for class now Went to work Changed my FB language to Spanish
  8. I don't really like books that are described as "self-help" - I mean, I don't go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and look for those types of books; reading autobiographies isn't really my thing. Rather, I look for books that have a meaning within a story, and is also easy to read and I've stumbled across a few that I liked. One of the autobiographies I read recently was Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I know I'm a little late in getting around to it, but my roommate had it so I figured I would. I can't believe I didn't get to this sooner! It was AMAZING. It wasn't boring at all, and I thi
  9. everyone is so pretty! will, i love how you edited those new pics of you, the light really nice!
  10. I have a calcium chew each morning - I'm really wary about osteoporosis. I don't want to suffer from it when I'm older! I love milk but when I'm at school I don't drink it often so I'm taking calcium chews instead. That's really it. I try to drink things with a lot of Vitamin C in them (as I am drinking orange juice lol). I should probably start taking one a day pills but for the most part I think I'm pretty good.
  11. sweet things, i have a huuuge sweet tooth! but idk, i also like rich foods as well although not too much of them at one point.
  12. Boston This place will always be my home, and it's a great little city to come visit <3 Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market (pronounced FAN - YOU - UL) One of the most fun places in boston! there are loads of stores and good food. Acorn Street, one of the oldest and most expensive places to live. It's in a neighborhood called Beacon Hill, which is where a bunch of senators from Boston live. Really posh, all that sort of thing.
  13. Because I was born and raised in america, I'm sure there are certain things that I do/do not do that are seen as strange in other countries, and I'm proud to be from a country that is really diverse - I think that is the coolest thing about America. I love love LOVE the Irish culture, and I want to live there someday! I just love the music, the food, the heritage, and the landscape. I've always been fascinated with england too. Scotland and Wales not SO much, but I want to go visit them, of course. As a Spanish major, I want to immerse myself in the Latin culture and all of their cultures ar
  14. Is the best spanish grammar teacher ever and is really nice, smart, and mature for his age!
  15. American money is so boring!!! But I'll post We don't really use the $2 bill anymore, but it is still accepted in currency although they stopped making them. I haven't seen some of the new colors but we definitely have a long way to go in terms of making our bills as cool as the pound, euro and the new zealand dollars! Our coins: I'll put the values too: The penny: .01 cent The nickel:.05 cents The dime: .10 cents The quarter:.25 cents
  16. Thank you so much Arie, I appreciate it I think we all have those little voices, in one way or another. But you're right, we only have one life and I think both of us want to be healthy and we both want to set a healthy pattern for life. Funny how that works out, no? But I think that you are very lucky that you knew what you were doing was bad for you and not a fulfilling way to live so I am very happy that you decided to get therapy! You are an absolutely beautiful girl and I think in all aspects of your life people are happy to have you around, and healthy, too. This was such a good thread
  17. First off Arie, I'd like to say that you are very brave for posting this. It takes a lot to put everything out there and I'm glad you are using your life to help/support others. I feel very lucky that I have never had an eating disorder, especially because I battle with self esteem issues every day. I mentioned it in the bullying forum, but I was made fun of a lot when I was a kid, and I have always been at least a little overweight. When I turned 15/16 I started filling out and when I did crew in senior year I lost a lot of weight but gained it back when I went to college. Today, I'm still s
  18. I actually just had a debate with a friend this morning. I am not in favor of hitting kids, but my friends who I do know that got spanked, smacked whatever as a child turned out just fine. I was slapped once as a child and it was the most miserable thing ever - I don't want to inflict that on my kids. I do think that parents nowadays need to stop trying to be friends with their kids and giving them everything they want, because that does not work. I intend to be a disciplinarian to my children and I can *still* be their friend but in turn there will be respect for the parental figure, as it sh
  19. I was bullied a LOT when I was younger but as I got older it stopped. I now am determined to become a happy, healthy, and successful person so I can come back and say look, none of this affected me. The sad part is, it did though. Yeah, I am happy but there are some self esteem issues that I have that I am not sure if they will ever go away. But honestly, having a good life is what irritates people the most - seeing people just really, truly happy. It also frustrates me that school educators do almost nothing to stop bullies. I hate it when kids put on an act - I went to the pharmacy one tim
