  1. It really is! I've been listening to "Poderoso" by hillsong a lot lately. If you know the song "Stronger" by them, it's the same thing, just in spanish.
  2. This was a great post, Kim! Not sure really quite where to start to respond actually, lol. Something caught my eye: That you said we have everything we need NOT to doubt God's existence. I liked that a lot! It can be hard for some people, to accept things without seeing them. I was reading somewhere or heard a sermon, I forget which, that we've been taught from a young age not to trust people, stranger danger, and to doubt things. This is a really hard attitude to get rid of. Everything is suspicious...so what do people think when they hear "there's a God, and He's really awesome, and He'll b
  3. Sure, no problem Joe. Alright, I also have a question for the Christians out there: what do you think are crucial questions we as Christians have to know how to answer? You know, the questions that people love to ask in order to stump us. I'll give a few: -why do bad things happen to good people? -you can't SEE God, how do you know He's there? -why is God a He? -why did the Holocaust happen then? These are just a few I've come across. How do we answer them in an understandable way? I have some ideas but I want to hear others' first. What are some that you guys have come across? This doesn
  4. I found a couple of awesome videos today, by a group called the Maccabeats, an all male Jewish Acapella group. They have a video for Hanukkah, which is found here:http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHwyTxxQHmQ&feature=related , and they also did a cover of One Republic's "Good Life" called "The Book of Good Life" which is for Rosh Hashanah http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRaQSbuTiBg&feature=context&context=C3d1c4fcUDOEgsToPDskJ5Hmzvu4dzbH2RwzgOOHXP The Book of Good Life presents an excellent idea, about living the best you can Very inspiring.
  5. From me to you, I would like to wish any Jewish member on this forum a very blessed and happy Hanukkah! I'll let Arie do the explaining on this one
  6. Chicken with basil, lemon and garlic my mom and I invented it this past summer and I can make it awesomeeee
  7. Great question Joe, I'm not an expert at the Bible but I looked it up and there doesn't seem to be verses that talk about choosing sin over God, but choosing God over sin. Romans 11:22-23 talks about branches in an olive tree and how some of them are broken off: "Note then the kindness and severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you will be cut off. And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. Matthew 10:22 "And ye shall
  8. I saw this! I read it on BBC Mundo The particle accelerator is so cool, it blows my mind what physicists have accomplished.
  9. Welcome back! I'm Karen And yes, we're all doing our best to keep the forum alive and well
  10. Most of the time scary movies arent my thing and usually i think the ones that are being made now are a piece of crap but this one seems really good. I love period pieces, An American Haunting is another one of my favorites, plus it's clever. Definitely going to go see it (or rent it at least) if it comes out in my area
  11. It's a Wonderful Life, HANDS DOWN. It's just a classic and so beautifully made and it sends a great message as well - that everyone affects others in their life and we all have a purpose! I also really enjoy Love Actually and The Holiday, just because they are funny
  12. So what's everyone asking for for christmas? I really need my books bought for next semester cuz I have pretty much no money (yay being poor), and I need printer ink and shampoo and stuff. I also asked for some shirts for stuff that I want, not stuff I need. So if I get those then that'd be a plus but I'm not expecting too much. Money is also good
  13. It's finals week for me so I'm studying for my 2 spanishes on monday, math review session on tues, then i might take the exam on wednesday if i feel that i'm ready. if I'm not, then I'll do it thursday then I can go HOME.
  14. I used to love opening presents in my pj's but this Christmas because I'm a "grown up" I have to a.) tell my mom and uncles what they should get for me and b.)get dressed because I go to church in the morning. I feel like the element of surprise came with wearing PJ's and now we've just all grown up so it's not fun anymore But hey, Christmas is about more than presents
  15. I have a black L.L. Bean one and that thing has lasted me for...wow, 7 years now? since I was a freshman in high school anyway. Those things are basically indestructible.
  16. Jeremy, Sarah, and Arie, I prayed for all of your requests. Please keep my mom, Nancy, in your prayers! She really needs it. Thanks all
  17. Well, I realized that we have human thoughts and spiritual thoughts, and I really found comfort in the fact that the people who try to pull us away from God or bring us down are just humans, and if we have God, then who could stop us? Romans 8:31: "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, then who can be against us?" That REALLY helped me recently because I realized that if God is on my side, then no one can ever stop me because I have the Greatest Defender
  18. Thank you Sarah! Better late than never, no? I totally agree, reading the Bible is very important and praying is too. I always tell people to just PRAY because even though God already knows what you want, the whole idea is for you to just ASK. It's the effort it takes to do that that counts. Also, when we pray we can hear the holy spirit that will guide us. As of recently I've been going to various Christian services, for example I went to a service on Friday night that was spanish evangelical, and that was super interesting cuz I'd never been to a service all in Spanish before. I usually g
  19. I love christmas too!! However, I am a bit christmased out because all that has been playing in the dining halls thus far have been xmas music. I really like the more religious xmas songs though, like O Come, All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, and The First Noel. O Holy Night - Celtic Woman
