  1. This is me at the beginning of the summer (late May) in Provincetown, MA on top of the Bradford Monument (MY PEOPLEEE) and this is me towards the end of the summer with blonde (ish) hair o.O and then this one i took on my comp a while ago and I just think it's a nice pic
  2. Hmm to look at it, it seems that you're right. Of course, I'm sure there are SOME people who still have respect for religion but again, you're right in the fact that it is the "uncool" thing. Many comments are made out of ignorance and thinking that religion is for losers, etc. I was at my school's Corsair Fair (where all the clubs line up to show what they have, etc, just like a big...outdoor club market. you know? I'm so tired, I can't phrase what I mean. just all the school organizations, clubs, etc) and I was sitting with Sister Madeline for Catholic Campus Ministry and I heard some studen
  3. I went to public school all my life, and the education was fine, the kids weren't. But I don't think if I had been in a private school the kids would have been any better, you know? I'm in a public university and I'm very satisfied with it. My neighbor Katie, who is 11 years old, went to a private catholic school and the kids were BRUTAL to her. It broke my heart because she is a very smart, sweet, loving girl, but she does have a form of asbergers. I was talking with her mom about it a while ago and her mom was so hesitant about putting her into public school and I don't think that public s

  5. talking about the rosary beads is really interesting because it seems like something so holy, people shouldn't mess with, you know? I was with 2 friends from work, and we were going out to dinner and we were having a really passionate discussion about christianity and while we are all christians, we are different denominations. I told them how I was raised catholic and I mentioned the word "eucharist" and they were like what is that? etc. and I said it is the "body" of christ. and we started talking about it and I said that transitioning to congregationalism wasn't hard for me and not eating
  6. ramadan kareem!! I KNEW I wasn't going crazy and it actually was ramadan!
  7. OH MY GOSH. I love this topic more than I can explain and reading it has been FASCINATING. Thank you, Joe! OK so, I've always thought the Bible said that people should worship quietly, in a "closet" (not a literal closet of course, just the metaphor for alone time), so I've never really brandished my faith about. I used to wear a cross every day but I only do it sporadically now. I never crossed myself when passing a church or a cemetary, it was just something that I never grew up with so never did. Sometimes I cross myself when an ambulance goes by, but usually I just say a silent prayer.
  8. oh where to start, where to start...i've dyed my hair many many times. many of my newer friends havent seen my original hair color cos I dye it so often. I've done many shades of brown and red, and I've done black, and black w/pink, and i dyed my hair a weird auburn shade but I didn't like it so I stripped it and now my hair is like a light brown which is closer to my natural hair color, actually. I like dying my hair, I consider it to be a form of expression and it doesn't hurt and it's fun, too
  9. I LOVE this song! I actually saw this song to an EW fan video and I had never heard of Barlow Girl before but I LOVED them. So this was the song that actually introduced me to them and they are now my favorite christian band!
  10. Amazing, just....gah. I love the "he will never get a gf" memes hahaha
  11. Oh yeah, children absolutely pick up languages faster than adults/older kids. In my town, because it is predominantly Italian (although I am not italian AT ALL), they taught us Italian from grades 2-5 (ages 7-10). I apparently was VERY good at Italian when I was younger, but I hated my teacher so when I entered middle school I decided to take Spanish. In middle school and high school, the three main languages taught were Spanish, French, and Italian. Nothing too exciting the language department at my school wasn't the greatest though, and I wish I had been taught spanish in grades 2-5 instead
  12. Ahhh I'm so sorry I didn't respond to this sooner! But anyway. Tao seems like a really cool belief system and I think it is great that you are learning to be in touch with yourself and the earth at the same time. I read somewhere that prayer is a lot like meditation, in fact, it is a form of meditation in itself. The brain works the same way and it's a very good way of relaxing. I just think that it's really great to be able to harmonize with yourself and come to peace with yourself and it creates a great cycle of peace and prosperity. It might not come in the form of groundbreaking, earth
  13. I hate math and science! Actually, I'm pretty good at algebra but only if I have a good teacher. I've always loved the languages and music
  14. I've been lucky to have some awesome teachers/professors in my life! But first...the ones I didn't like I HATED my junior year chem teacher. He was one of those people that the dislike just stuck with me the entire year. HATED HIM. and the subject. Then there was my senior year pre-calc teacher. She herself was a cool person but I didn't like her as a teacher at all. Now, I LOVED my orchestra teacher, Mr. Szykniej. I'd had him for orchestra since I was 11 years old up until I graduated high school at 17. He was quite possibly the best teacher ever. He went above and beyond for his stude
  15. I want to do a road trip!! and now that i have my license, i CAN! WOOOO!!! Umm I'm not traveling anywhere soon. Next summer, however, if i have enough money, my friend is going to england (cornwall) for a couple of weeks and invited me to come with her and I'd get free lodgings cuz her grandparents live there SCORE! only issue is getting the $$ to go there hahahaha. Next fall (2012) I want to study abroad in the dominican republic or another spanish speaking country
  16. I agree completely! I've actually been wondering about alcohol usage in the armed forces, because from what I've seen people in the army, navy, whatever, drink a LOT. And I don't know enough people in the armed forces to say that they drink more than regular people or people not on a tour of duty, but it does seem to be a big thing to party or whatever. My mom has had her issues with alcohol too, which is why I stay away from it as well. None of my friends care that I dont drink, except for one friend who likes to tease me sometimes. She actually made a bet with me that I wouldnt drink at all
  17. whats the difference between a male banana and a female banana? or just male vs. other bananas?
  18. Yes, it's information technology! I am majoring in Spanish and Early Childhood Education.

  21. I agree! Personally, I like it just straightforward, no fancy singing. I think it's meant to come from the heart and soul, and doesnt need adornment.
