ckravitz
At school today, we had to do this peer mediation thing during Gym class where we write down and say what we want our future to be like (for example, future goals). So, it got me thinking that maybe we should have a thread for people to post what they want their future to hold for them. Here are mine: Now:Do well in school Get into the highest classes (honors/AP)Make a successful iOS appFinish screenplay 5 years:Finish highschoolGet into Brown UniversityHave made many iOS apps 15 years:MarriedLinving somewhere other than New Jersey (maybe London)Made/making film based on screenplay What do you want your future to entail? The Dude
Not to threadjack here but if you're interested in writing apps and film making is Brown really your best choice of university? Maybe something like USC for film or something around Silicon Valley for apps and technology such as the Art Institute of California or the San Francisco Art Institute. That's where the major players like Google and Facebook are and Cupertino is just an hour to the south. Just a thought. Edited January 20, 2011 by The Dude

To be honest, I don't fully know if I want to go to college for a degree in computer science, etc. I'm still "shopping around" of course, but I like to think of Brown as a "marker," if you will. In other words, knowing that I could go to Brown as a back up is always nice to know. I will definitely look around Silicon Valley and USC, however. I have time, 3 years to be exact, but I always like to plan ahead.
The Dude
Yeah, Brown as a backup school is none too shabby. Most people have some directional school as their backup college. And you should shop around before making such a big decision. Hey, you may find success before entering college and just forgo college for now. It'll always be there whenever you decide the time is right.

The degree means nothing, it's the knowledge that's important.

I could go into research but i think profiling is my best bet since i ace all those exams and essays lol.A Profiler is a very cool job. Look at the show "Criminal Minds," you would probably love it. The entire show is following a team of FBI profilers trying to look into the minds of serial killers to try and see their next move. A spin-off of the show called "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" has been announced, and debuts on February 16, 2011 on CBS.* It stars Forest Whitaker. I think you would really like this show since you're looking into the exact field of criminology that the show is based out of. Criminal Minds is also very interesting to watch, featuring very distinct features that are not found in all the other crime shows. I won't say any, since then it will ruin the surprise. "Famous" episodes including No Way Out (part 1 and 2), Masterpiece, and The Fisher King. I think you would love these due to the great casting and the "perfect criminals" the writers created. Good luck! *On both shows, CBS owns North American Rights to the show, ABC owns international rights. Edited January 23, 2011 by ckravitz
